Sales report 2.0

Well it's been a long time in the making, but hopefully the wait was worth it! Sales Report 2.0 is here, so go get it!

http://www.zen-cart.com/index.php?main_page=product_contrib_info&products_id=83

You can drop the files right into the admin and right over top of the existing files. Still no overwrites.

Take it for a spin, and let me know what you think, and if you find any problems. I've been using it for the past few months as I built and tweaked it, so there should be no major issues.

Enjoy, and thanks for your patience.

Re: Sales report 2.0

Hi Frank-

Easy install as you stated.

Regarding setting defaults for timeframe reports, is there a method available to disable displaying a period when no orders are processed? That is, rather than displaying "-- NO ORDERS IN TIMEFRAME --", instead just display the periods where an order was processed? Hopefully not many shopkeepers will have days like that, but would be useful feature for some mom & pops (especially for weekends or vacations).

Of course if reports are to be used as any kind of an "audit" instrument then showing zero order days is indeed a good idea.

Thanks,
Woody

I had actually thought about adding that option already. Look for it in a future release.

Precisely.

Re: Sales report 2.0

I installed it too, thanks for the update!

I find it a little busy though, with all of the dark grey headings with the white text. I'd prefer one heading at the top, and then maybe odd-even colored rows to help differentiate lines.

I'd also love the option to remove some fields. Gift certs for example.

The color scheme is design to match the rest of the admin. If you don't like it, you're welcome to change it on your install, just as you would the Admin nav bar. The style defines begin on Line 241.

The number of headings all depends on how your arrange your timeframes. If you choose a 30-day range, but daily timeframes, you'll get that timeframe heading above each day. Instead, choose monthly timeframes and you'll get all those orders neatly organized under one heading. The reason for this flexibility goes back to report's intent: it's for an accountant. These types of breakdowns are necessary for proper double bookeeping. If you're not seeing what you want, it's not the report's fault.

I'd also love the option to remove some fields. Gift certs for example.
Take a look at the language define file. You'll find two defines which will enable/disable One-time Fees and the Manufacturer. Beyond that, I again point you to the report's intended audience. If you're big enough to have a bookeeper, you are likely using coupons at least as a loss-leader invitation.

Re: Sales report 2.0

Frank, nice work. I did turn up a "division by zero" error though. I'll let you know the exact details soon - it may have something to do with my occasional $0.00 product "sales".

Cheers!

I have no doubt that is the cause. Post the details when you have them.

Re: Sales report 2.0

Thanks for the great work but anyway to merge more information to this report, I need customer's address, maybe in other way I can customize my sales report. Thank you very much.

Re: Sales report 2.0

I can't make it work as it used to, ie it won't show a months sales for a month between two dates .... obviously I am missing something here, but it was very simple with the previous version but I am unable to do this ... I will go rtfm I think :(

Re: Sales report 2.0

I simply make the following selections

Stage 1 [Gather and filter data] - Select custom date, 04/08/2006 and end date inclusisve 04/09/2006 - then choose date of order purchase and leave others as 'doesn't matter'

Stage 2 - Leave time frame daily selected, and Choouse time frame totals as teh option (oldest on top)

Steage 3 [Generate report] I leave everything as is and click 'show me the money' button

The result is one item, ie one order ... we had over 60 orders in that period!

Something isn't quite as it should be, unless I made a wrong selection above ?

Could it be a date format problem?

Re: Sales report 2.0

The Custom Calendar thing doesn't work on Opera. Tho that might be opera's problem... I think that problem has existed for years in the core code "Specials" data selector as well.

Would be nice if it assumed today's date as the ending date if you fill in only the starting date.

All in all .. its fantastic ! :) Thank you

Well I can't make it work following the steps above in either Firefox or Internet Explorer, would somebody kindly state the steps to follow to show the monthly (daily) totals between two dates, thanks.

Re: Sales report 2.0

I first must say that having used one of the previous Sales Report mods for a number of months, I think that Sales Report is one of my favorite and most used mods. I find it really useful as I am a stat junkie and so around Sales Report v. 5.7 or so I'd like to see 3-D bar charts, histograms, and projection functions included in the mod.

Now my question about this that I didn't see answered elsewhere - how do I change the default setting for report production? I'd like to be able to run the report quickly without changing three or four options everytime...for example, I'd like "screen display" to be default rather than "print format" and "timeframe totals" without the individual product display. Thanks.

Its in the readme.. you can edit the included language file and change it all in there.

Open it in Firefox and goto Tools->Javascript Console to see a better explanation. If you email it to me I can take a look. qhomezone at gmail.com

It looks like it's something as simple as a missing parenthesis on line 365 of the javascript file

Why? Sales report 2.0 works just fine with Zen Cart 1.3.5
