Hi.

I have just installed v 2.0 of this mod. I have modiified tpl_product_info_display.php as directed and installed my first discount:-

$this->add_prod_to_prod(425,426, "%" , 50);

Nothing is showing on the product info page or at checkout - what have I done wrong?

Your setup function should be this:

function setup() {
$this->add_prod_to_prod(425,426, "%" , 50);
}

Delete anything else you have and paste this in.

If it doesn't work, you have done something wrong and you need to put an ad in commercial help wanted for someone to install it for you.

Is it possible to actively apply a single discount from a single item to multiple items?

In others word, a customer would ideally be able to buy an item and then receive $X off on up N specified items.

Any thoughts on this?

See your PM. There are other solution for this problem but Better Together is just "Buy an A, get a B at a discount').

I just installed this and running on test site for now.

I'm using this discount link:
$this->add_cat_to_cat(4, 5, "%", 50);
Buy 1 item in category 4 and get 50% off an item in category 5.

Seems to work good, apart from:

One of my items in category 4 has a master category of 9 and is linked to category 4.

If I browse to that item via 'category 4' I get the discount message.

No discounts are applied if I add the item and an item from category 5 to my cart and the discount message does not appear if I browse to the item via 'category 9'

Is there any way to stop the discount message from appearing when viewing these linked products?

I've been playing around with the following scenario..

$this->add_cat_to_cat(4, 4, "%", 50);
Buy 1 item in catergory 4 and get the 2nd category 4 item at 50% off.

From what I can work out it doesn't matter which order items are added to the cart, it always discounts the lowest priced item regardless of whether this is added to the cart 1st or 2nd. I've done maybe 10 tests and get the same result everytime.

Is this the way the module is set to work, or could it end up discounting the higher priced item. I guess I'm asking for what rules does the module use to determine the item to be discounted?

One of the enhancements that was made in version 2.0 was to automatically select the least expensive matching item for discounting.

This fix is only required if you have this problem (category discounts on categories which include linked items).

Thanks Scott. I've just installed this software and modified it for buy 4 get one free. It's working great but I need to apply the discount across both attributes of the product. Can't understand why it's not doing that automatically, can you help please?

i installed Better Together just now, when i changed the sort order from 295 to 260, then i got the error in my admin :

Fatal error: Call to a member function format() on a non-object in /home2/fashioq8/public_html/shop/includes/modules/order_total/ot_gv.php on line 49

how do i fix this problem? help needed

after i restart the explorer, it works now, very strange :smile:

I've installed the Better Together files meticulously and followed the instructions. My problem is that my custom skin - clean_business doesn't have a **/templates/ **folder in it.

So I created one then copied the template_default/templates/tpl_product_info_display.php as well as the tpl_better_together_marketing.php file into it. So now they are both in both places with the customized code according to your instructions.

Yet, it's still not working - I've gone all the way to the checkout page - but it's not there.

Hints? Clues?

Directory you want is not /templates but rather includes/templates/<your template>/templates. If template_default is your template, then it would be includes/templates/template_default/templates.

i have installed it and place the template properly.

the details are showing up when choose to purchase the items as shown by demo

however, when i checkout, the changes are NOT reflected as the Discount under Better Together ?

what can be done ?
