Re: A Different Zen Template or "Sage"

Hey I love this template!. i'm using it at usarmorment.com and i'm running a test on another url. Only one problem. Since I installed it I can no longer choose to "main page opens with category xx" The main page only shows new for xx month and featured products no matter what setting I use. On both sites it's the same. Got any ideas?

Re: A Different Zen Template or "Sage"

For the past week or so I have been lurking at various threads. I have and read the e-Start Zen Cart book. I am not a XHTML or PHP programmer but I do have the book “HTML 4 for Dummies” just in case. I have downloaded your Sage Template on to my local machine. The Template works just fine, but some of my modifications do not.

I have added a new logo (sawhorsejewlery.png) and with some adjustment it looks just fine. I next went to DEFINE_MAIN_PAGE_PHP because I wanted to remove href="http://www.lulu.com/content/466605"><img src="images/large/e-start-book.gif" (Although I think you guys are great, I really did not want to put that page up front and center. So, I replaced it with <a <img src="file://C:\Server\xampp\xampp\htdocs\store\includes\templates\sage\images\Frog1.jpg" alt="Sawhorse Jewelry Designs :: Find your good horse" title="Sawhorse Jewelry Designs Main Page" /></a> However, the Main Page could not find the new image. I also tried the main page HTML editor in Zen Cart Admin using DEFINE PAGES EDITOR FOR: ETC., But I could not get the image to load using the file location in the URL. I checked the location using IE and cut and pasted it (with the added file://)

So first issue is: How do I get an image with the “Welcome Message” and above the area used to display Products?

The second issue (I believe is a much simpler one) How do I format the Sales Tag Line found across from and to the right of the new logo found at the top right of the main page. I have changed it content in HEADER.PHP but do not know how to format it.

So the second issue is: How do you formation the “sales tag line”?

Thanks for any light you can shed on this.

Oh, I have included a screen shot of the main page as it looks today.

Re: A Different Zen Template or "Sage"

I can't help with your local path issues...

You can only style tagline minorly, as this will eventually depend upon the fonts available in the viewers browser. - but #tagline is the tag for it in the stylesheet

Re: A Different Zen Template or "Sage"

I understand the it would be very difficult to check a local path. However, I think I may be programing incorrectly. The reason I say this it that I put the image (Frog1.jpg) in the same subdirectory as define_main_page.php and it still could not find the image. My code was **<img src="Frog1.jpg" alt="Sawhorse Jewelry Designs :: Find your good horse" title="Sawhorse Jewelry Designs Main Page" /> **

I did get the alt text.

The first question is: is my code correct? If no, what would be the correct code?

Second question is: which style sheet do I use to format the sales tag line on the main page? (what is the path?)

Thanks

Re: A Different Zen Template or "Sage"

I found part of the answer to my question.

Under Zen Cart Support > Customizing the Look of Your Shop > The Stylesheet Main Page Image

From gjh42 (3rd September 2007 post)

I see that a non-linked image could look like this (with my modifications) in define_main_page.php:

<div id="homeShopView"><?php echo '<img src="' . HTTP_SERVER . DIR_WS_CATALOG . DIR_WS_TEMPLATE . 'images/Frog1.jpg" alt="Sawhorse Jewelry Designs :: Find your good horse"></img>';?></div>

This displays the frog1.jpg image located in /includes/templates/sage/images/

This works!!!

I can change also image size using the code below.

<div id="homeShopView"><?php echo '<img src="' . HTTP_SERVER . DIR_WS_CATALOG . DIR_WS_TEMPLATE . 'images/Frog1.jpg" alt="Sawhorse Jewelry Designs :: Find your good horse" height=338" width=450"></img>';?></div>

However, the image placement default is left align.

I do not know how to center or right align

Question 1 - how do you move the image?

Note: gjh42 stated “You can add images to the body of the home page in the same place you added the "Whether you're a hardcore Gearhead..." text - define_main_page.php. Just add <img> url's. If you want to position them interestingly, you can include an id="homeImg1" tag and style #homeImg1 in your stylesheet”

I do not understand what he is saying about the tag or the style in the style sheet.

**Question 2: Is the stylesheet he is talking about under SAGE/css/stylesheet.css ? ** (I assume yes)

If the style sheet is in the location above – the question 1 still remains how (what is the code) to move and add additional images?

Thanks - since I do not know how to code I do appreciate any time you could devote to my problem.

Re: A Different Zen Template or "Sage"

If doing this in a define page - select the html editor then the page to edit...

select the image and use the tools in the tool bar to align

Does the editor not load? If so you have other issues that need addressing as the editor runs fine on every install that I have done.

Re: A Different Zen Template or "Sage"

Because I was not getting HTML images for the main page I tried another defined page. I also did not get the HTML on any other page. Please see included information that I did get. I do not know if it makes a difference (I can not see how it would - but I am on a local computer).

Re: A Different Zen Template or "Sage"

I also did not get the HTML on any other page.
From your screen image, you are getting the html WYSIWYG view.

Below is the same file in code view and these standard included defines pages do not normally contain images

<p><strong>Checkout Success Sample Text ...</strong></p><p>A few words about the approximate shipping time or your processing policy would be put here. </p>
<p>This section of text is from the Define Pages Editor located under Tools in the Admin.</p>
<p>This file is located in<code> /languages/english/html_includes/classic/</code></p>
<p><strong>NOTE: Always backup the files in<code> /languages/english/html_includes/your_template</code></strong></p>

Re: A Different Zen Template or "Sage"

Yep, I get the same thing. So, I guess the HTML editor is working. Just not on the Main_Page.

It either works or not - What are you expecting to see on the main page?

Re: A Different Zen Template or "Sage"

I was hoping that the HTML editor would show my entire main page as it would be rendered on IE. However, I get a blank screen.

I was thinking that that may be caused because I added code in the Define_Main_Page.PHP. With help I inserted the following code:

<div id="homepage1"><?php echo '<img src="' . HTTP_SERVER . DIR_WS_CATALOG . DIR_WS_TEMPLATE . 'images/Frog1.jpg" alt="Sawhorse Jewelry Designs :: Find your good horse" height="270" width="360" ></img>';?></div>

The code will place the image Frog1.jpg on my main page.

Again, I was hoping that the HTML editor would show my entire main page.

I am also trying to do a single Menu Bar.
I would like a single Menu Bar across the top (below the logo) where you have “Home” & “Login”. I want to keep “Home” & “Login” while trying to get the product categories (which are now centered and on the line below) all on the same line. I am also trying to increase the font size of all of the text. However, I could not find the information in the stylesheet. I assume that font size is in the stylesheet and the there is a php file that can adjust the links, size, and position of the menu bar. I just do not know where. Could you help in this issue?
