PurpleShades Support Thread

I think i might be on the right track...

The problem is definitely a modification to the purpleshades files. I self modified the logo, logo background and stylesheet.css to decrease the size of the logo area. If you visit the site in IE you will see that "New products for August" fall out of their box (they do not do this in Firefox). After a period of time and a bit of scrolling up and down (not sure what is the trigger) the top of the shop will jump down around 150px from the top of the browser.

I tried switching back to classic and there are no problems in either browser, ergo, the problems must be in my modifications to the purpleshades stylesheet.css. I tried reducing #tagline height to 111px along with that of #logoWrapper, but the problem still manifests.

So what could I have done that would create the above two problems?

Re: PurpleShades Support Thread

Did you edit out any of the !important entries?

Re: PurpleShades Support Thread

Nope - the important entries stayed. It was those that I had the original question about (I wanted to change the height of the Nav bar).

Re: PurpleShades Support Thread

I'm having a problem with my category descriptions. When you choose a category or go back to a category from a product description, the description is partially cut off. Then after a few minutes the remainder of the description appears. I'm not sure if it has to do with the template or the way my pages are loading. Can you take a look at it and tell me if there is something I need to alter?

Also, how do I remove the alphabethical search box on the categories pages?

Thanks!

Re: PurpleShades Support Thread

Not sure what you are referring to if it is the truncated description in the product listing pages this is default and only displays about the first 150 characters

Also you have not completely followed the template install instructions for the side box widths admin > config > layout settings left & right box widths I think are to be set to 135px

admin > config > product listing > Include Product Listing Alpha Sorter Dropdown > false

Re: PurpleShades Support Thread

The problem I'm having is the category description, not the product. At the top of the category page I have a description. It doesn't seem to show up until you scroll down then it pops onto the screen. At first you can see just the top part of the words in the first sentence.

Also, how would I change the font size for the links, side box text, etc.?

Thanks!

This is why I asked for a link to the page as I was not finding a page that acted like you were stating...

Sorry, can't assist with your PC

Re: PurpleShades Support Thread

I am a horrible browser, I can NEVER find what I am looking for. I hope someone can be patient enough to tell me how to install this new template I just downloaded. I desperately want to get my store up and running, but seem to be hitting one brick wall after another.

Thanks in advance for any help.:frusty:

Re: PurpleShades Support Thread

If you downloaded the one that I contributed along with others for 1.3.x tabless.

Then this has an includes folder the you can just upload(drag and drop) with your FTP client and the files are structured correctly to be uploaded to the proper locations. Then follow the instructon in the readme file to select this in the admin and reset the layout boxes, and the column widths. That is it

Re: PurpleShades Support Thread

Installing a template will depend on the template you are installing. In general, you upload the files in the same file structure that they are in. This means you may need to create folder in directories with your template name exactly like it is in the downloaded files.
Once uploaded you got to Admin---> Tools---> Template Selection select your template and set as default. You will also need to arrange your boxes from Admin--> Tools-->> Layout box controller.
There may be additional needs depending on your template. Have you read the "read me" or "Install text" in the downloaded files?

Re: PurpleShades Support Thread

hihi,
i just installed this template to my 1.3.8 ver zencart.

im having some problems changing the navigation bar width.
i tried to change the #navMainWrapper, #navMain's height,
but then the text inside just gets out of place.

if i do not wish to have the top categories navigation bar, how can i turn it on or off?

Also i seem to have total of 3 navigation bars. whats all these? how to remove them if i dont need?

Also, how do i set my logo to be align to right or align to middle?

the appearance of the top banner looks different in both firefox n IE. I set the navigation bar to start at 200px, just after my logo.. it appears correct in firefox, but not in IE. In IE, it start at about 230px.

the files are here..

Re: PurpleShades Support Thread

i tried changing to height: 30px !important;
but does not seem to work. can still see the big white space below and also the navigation text seems to be adjusted to the middle based on the 59px and not 30px.

i had changed the height in css to 30px, and changed the image to height of 30px. still whitespace appears. pls help.

Re: PurpleShades Support Thread

If you are referring to what I think then your re-colored hdr_bg.gif is only 160px high and your logo is 220 px high - make them match

Re: PurpleShades Support Thread

nono. this is not what i am asking...
i am asking about the navigation bar.. where the words

* Mon May 05 2008
* Home
* Log In
* Create Account

lies. It appears to be correct in firefox in some computers.. as 30px, and 2nd row of navigation continuous as 30px, while some appears wrongly . The wrong one will show 30px blur bar + some white space about 29px white space ( total 59px ) instead... and the words

* Mon May 05 2008
* Home
* Log In
* Create Account

will be inbetween the blue bar and the white space. For IE, it is also shown wrongly.

Also, how to make the logo centralised?

p/s: i had amended the hdr_bg.gif & logo to be same height so as not to confuse you.

Re: PurpleShades Support Thread

ok i solved the white space problem!

#navMain ul, #navSupp ul, #navCatTabs ul {
margin: 0;
padding: 0.2em 0.2em;<<<<<<here for the white space
list-style-type: none;
text-align: center;
line-height: 2.0em;<<<<<here for the text placement
}

now where should i change for the logo to be centralised?

Re: PurpleShades Support Thread

I am trying to fix the problems I've found with a client's site.
Purpleshades is the template being used - but some "funky" alterations :yuck: have been made to it so the header section blows out the right margin.

I know the sitelogo.gif that is there is the culprit. I would appreciate a little input on the PROPER way to fix this so the page maintains it's original size and the sitelogo is centered in the header (I will be making it transparent so the purple colors show thru!)

Also, the who's online sidebox pushes out the right edge when there are 10 or more viewers on line. It's ok with 9 or less! I tried to modidy the text in the sidebox, but that resulted in the loss of the word wrap function - quickly undid my fix lol!)

The site is http://replicaprops.com

As always - thanks for the help! :hug:

Re: PurpleShades Support Thread

First I would get the tabless version of purple shades

http://www.zen-cart.com/index.php?main_page=product_contrib_info&cPath=40_53&products_id=108

Install it

Then I would break their image into 3 parts

logo
text image
gradient

Then apply the gradient as a background image with repeat-y
logo saved as a gif - - logo.gif
text image as the tagline

Doing it now - perfect timing since client wants to upgrade to latest ZenCart too!

Thanks for the instructions - will do the logo in 3 sections!
