Re: Lavender Template Support Thread

Me again! (don't groan!)

I have a new query. I have switched on the information sidebox but it is not showing up on the store. Any explanation why? I think it has something to do with this module that comes with it "better categories". There is no module of that name in my admin though and it only had 2 files to upload for it (in modules folder)

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Lavender Template Support Thread

Have re-installed file, changed to classic template and checked for blank lines.

Still have problems.

The main page will load ok once then create the error on refresh or product select.

You still have problems using what template? If the classic template then you have default file issues.

If there are no issues with the classic template - but there are with this template we need to know this - what does work and then what does not work and with which template.

Re: Lavender Template Support Thread

Have problems as per post 34 using either lavender or classic template.

Am really tempted to remove completely from server and start all over again.

Just to update. I know how infuriating it would be if someone came a long with the same problem but there was no update.

Basically I uninstalled the Better Categories bit and then it was all fine. Probably not the correct answer but it worked for me!

Re: Lavender Template Support Thread

icklebits,

If installed correctly, this template as provided does not obviate the information sidebox nor any other....You can see this as a demo at this location:

http://(sorry, site offline)/137/index.php?main_page=index&template_dir=lavender

If you had issues with this you must have something else going on...but as you have it working this is only for your information as to what and how this should function

Re: Lavender Template Support Thread

I had a problem. I have Lavender working fine.
He is my offereing to help resolve issues.

  1. Load the basic system.
  2. Make a backup to your PC
  3. Load a module & make sure you load it into the right location
  4. test
  5. If all ok, load your next module
  6. keep doing this and making backups. I know it's slow, but i found my issues were with the FTP program.
I looked at all the files.... in the end, Lavender is a bolt on and does not overwrite any files.

Just make sure you load the files into the right location. Look at the text file and even print it out. I am sure the first time i loaded it, i wrote the files to the wrong location.

I was comforted that so many others had the system running, so i figured it had to be something i had done.
I am running the latest version of Zen.

On another matter, Is there anyway, to have a windoe or something i can direct people who just logged on to. For example, i want customers to use order numbers, i want to remind them to write that in the comments section on the order. Or it could be some other reminder i want to put in front of them... ie closed for holidays soon etc.
Thanks

Re: Lavender Template Support Thread

I'm setting the Lavender template up for a client. When the page first loads it looks fine but then if you move your mouse around on the page all of a sudden the header logo jumps down and it leaves a big white space above it. (Approx 1 1/2 inches high and all the way across) How can i stop this?

Also, using Image handler and the hover effect isn't working either.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: Lavender Template Support Thread

This problem is happening because the template-specific files for Image Handler haven't been installed in your template.

Re: Lavender Template Support Thread

Where would I find those? Sorry for so many questions but I'm not having much luck searching for the files.

Thanks again.

I know where that folder is, I'm not understanding what is supposed to go there. It does show image files there already.

CnTGifts if you were talking to me, I have the header area at 300 px high. I had to do it like that so the logo would fit (and the customer doesn't want a smaller one) but IH or something else is causing a larger area to be shown at times.

Re: Lavender Template Support Thread

Hi, I'm so new to this and this is my first time doing my own site. I've already got the basic part of my site setup and I want to change the template, so I downloaded the Lavender template but now I need help in where to install it to. I've read the instruction of the install, but got alittle confuse with how to drag and dropping the files. I didn't want to mess up my current page so can someone please kindly tell me the best way to this without too confusing? I went into the ftp client but I don't understand where to put the complete includes folder to. Thanks so much!

Re: Lavender Template Support Thread

grneyes,

When you see this white space - in your browser select > edit > select all > and you should see a non visible block in this area highlighted...

This is not part of the template code and I could not determine what it is

Rayray,

I answered your issue in response to your PM

I agree with CnTGifts comment about the header, and although I understand your point about the client wanting to stick with this logo, as the site designer your responsibility is to design around this requirement. For example, I wouldn't use a liquid layout as that makes everything else look small and insignificant around the big logo. I would use bigger image sizes so that they can better compete with the over-sized logo. I'd move the logo to the left and use the space created creatively. You could run the categories as a vertical list with bigger a bigger font next to it for example, rather than underneath and in the left hand column. You could even push the boat out and put a scrolling whatsnew or featured product up there, as well as the site navigation.

Thank you! That got rid of the white space and image hover is now working.

I'm not a web designer I'm just helping out a client with setting up a cart. I don't know how to put the categories in the logo area but that is something she might go for.
