Lavender Template Support Thread

Hi, I really need help with this. I'm so new to this and this is my first time trying to build this site. I've downloaded the template and everything works fine except the home page couldn't load. It just shows the better categories page instead my site home page. Can someone please figure this out for me? I did trying to undo the download figure I probably did something wrong, but I guess it's too late for it. Is there any possible way to uninstall the whole lavender template?

Well I can find no evidence of the lavender template on your site so you have either succeeded in removing it, or have put it in the wrong place.

The mistake that you make was uploading not only the includes file containing the template (as per the installation instructions), but also the index.html file included int he lavender release package.

This is for documentation only, and is not supposed to go onto your site. However, if you simply delete it, it will stop block your index.php and your site will magically re-appear.

Thanks so much for your reply as I have no idea what's going on with it. So, all I have to do is find the index.html file and delete it? Where exactly is that file locate in? I don't want to delete anything else i'm not suppose to. Thank you in advance!

So, all I have to do is find the index.html file and delete it? Where exactly is that file locate in?It's in the root directory of your site. That's the one with admin, includes, image, extras, etc folders.

Take care to delete the index.html file, BUT NOT the index.php file.

Thanks Kuroi, I got it! You saved me because I was gonna uninstall my whole cart and re-install it back and start all over. I hope you don't mind me asking you some more questions. I really want to change the template, but what is the right way to upload it into my ftp? Was I uploaded into the right place? Also, how can I change the copyright of my site? Thanks so much! I'm sorrie to bother you.

Re: Lavender Template Support Thread

I need a little guidance. I am using the lavender template and love it! What I haven't been able to figure out is how to change the font size on the links for categories and all the other sideboxes? In the stylesheet.css I have the font set to verdana 11px...it looks that way for my product descriptions and body but not the links in the sideboxes.

My site is https://www.simetraonline.com

any help is appreciated, thank you

rayray430:

I really want to change the template, but what is the right way to upload it into my ftp?That would depend on the FTP software you are using. I use FileZilla and simply drag the files needed from my PC to the location on the server that the installation instructions indicate.

rayray430:

Was I uploaded into the right place?As I didn't see your site until after you had removed it. I am unable to say.

rayray430:

Also, how can I change the copyright of my site?There is a section in the FAQ entitled "What Every New Zen Cart User Needs to Know". In it you'll find entries such as the one you need.

Re: Lavender Template Support Thread

Hi! I love this template. It will definitely save me a lot of time. Thanks so much for creating it!

Here is my problem, if you have a moment to take a look. About a year and a half ago, I created a zencart site for a customer, and I am now upgrading her site. I am doing the upgrade at a temporary location then will move it over. I installed your template and tried to change it to a fixed width. In IE it looks fine (go figure, IE usually screws up everything ;) ) However, in firefox, everything below the header and above the footer is moved over to the right about 70 pixels or so.

The temporary link is http://mccanney.net/hfb

I have just installed a new zen cart installation and added the header from the old site and a few categories...no products yet.

Thanks so much!

Jill

Re: Lavender Template Support Thread

Your home and logion links are slightly too big for the bar that you have put them in and are dropping down to push the center table across. One way to deal with this would be to add the following to your stylesheet

#contentMainWrapper {clear:both}

Re: Lavender Template Support Thread

Looked at the changes you made to this stylesheet and from what I can determine this change you made is the culprit and if you change it bak to what follows you will be ok.

#navMainWrapper, #navSuppWrapper, #navCatTabsWrapper {
	margin: 0em;
	background-color: #6a328f;
	font-weight: bold;
	color: #ffffff;
	height: 22px;
	width: 779px;
	}

Change back to:

#navMainWrapper, #navSuppWrapper, #navCatTabsWrapper {
	margin: 0em;
	background-color: #6a328f;
	font-weight: bold;
	color: #ffffff;
	height: 1%;
	width: 100%;
	}

As the navMain is contained inside of mainWrapper you want this to be 100% of the width of the containing wrapper and you have set the mainWrapper to 779px

Re: Lavender Template Support Thread

Kobra,
That worked! Thanks so much!! The reason that I had added the height to the navwrapper is because the navwrapper was showing up as a very thin line in firefox. I am sure that it was doing it because of a change I made that I didn't realize. But it is perfect now. Thanks so much!!

kobra:

This thread has been started to support the "Lavender Template"

This is a two for one template. You will install with this template a soft lavender colored template and an implementation of the Better Categories Module by gilby.
BetterCategories questions probably belong in the respective support thread.

http://www.zen-cart.com/index.php?main_page=product_contrib_info&products_id=413

I have a question please:

(first) I love your lavendar template, the coloring section is great.

I am a graphic design and get lost very easy on codes. I know html very well put get a bit lost on CSS. In the top logo (Sample: where it says Printable shop http://printableshop.com/kidscraftsfamilyfun/ )

What file and what codes do I need to find to make the pixel size on that wider. I want to make a large image at the top. The height is fine but I would like to make it longer to show more graphic since I will be selling http://www.momsbreak.com/ downloadable printables and graphics.

Thanks

Re: Lavender Template Support Thread

As currently this is the logo.gif image and cebtered you can just create a larger one and place it in the same folder with the same name.

Just to make sure I understand correctly. The logo.gif right now is 300 x 150 pixels. I can make a logo.gif at 500 x 200 pixels, then upload in the same folder and I don't have to go in anyplace to change the coding numbers 300 to 500 or 150 to 200? Correct?

What "cebtered" - is it a coding word or a typo? I googled it and didn't find a meaning.

Thank you

Re: Lavender Template Support Thread

"cebtered ":oops: I re-read this and I have no Idea either???

The width will expand with no issue as long as you do not make it wider than the layout width (and you should consider those that are still viewing at 800X600)
You might possibly have to edit the stylesheet here:

#logoWrapper {
        background-color: #e5d9e5;
        height:150px;
        }

Re: Lavender Template Support Thread

@Kimberl

"cebtered" = "centered"

And in addition to Kobra's advice above, you will need to change your includes/languages/english/lavender/header.php file to reflect your logo's new dimensions.

Re: Lavender Template Support Thread

Hi all! I'm new to Zen and to php. I am really trying to learn. It's hard when you have limited time. Anyhoo, I absolutely adore the lavender template. :clap: I just installed zen cart to my site and I am dying to have that beautiful and brilliant template on it. There is just one problem. I am a total moron as I cannot figure out how to install it. :frusty: I keep going to the tools:template selection and only the green one shows up. I uploaded it into the template section, then reuploaded it to the classic folder but I can't get it to show up. I know there is something that I am not doing but I don't know what it is. If there is a very patient person out there willing to help, I would be forever in their debt. Thank you.

Re: Lavender Template Support Thread

If using FTP just drag & drop the local includes folder with the template to you host panel where you an see the admin & includes folders - not on top of any one but just to the pane. It will move the fies tothe correct locations
