Depending on where you live, you may still be able to use Twitter to deliver SMS messages if you don't have an email to SMS gateway.

How can I further debug this mod?

• I can receive text e-mails from my e-mail client - So I know my phone will receive SMS messages.
• If I put my phone address into the Contact Us lists, I can send/receive those messages. So I know my e-mail/gateway is working.
• However, I do not get notices when orders are placed.

Are you using Paypal IPN, and if so, have you made the required change? (See the page below.)
Otherwise, since you're in the US, you might try using Twitter to deliver text messages. Instructions are provided here:

I don't know where I went wrong, but rest assured it is working now...

I restored everything to 'Before', then followed the steps again, from the beginning.

Evidently, I must have mis-edited something in one of the files...

But after re-doing it. IT WORKS!

For those still without an SMS to Email Gateway, it looks like Google Voice (what used to be Grand Central) might be a good option. I will post instructions after they open it to the public.

So....
I'm looking for a solution that will notify 2 cell numbers:
I would like to add a 2nd cell number for the SMS alert.
Is it possible to have two cell numbers notified of a sale??
I'd like to simply edit the php file if possible.

Otherwise, what do you think about a possible work-around..
Maybe creating an email account for your SMS mod, then have that email forward the sales alert to the 2 cell numbers?

Your recommendation would be greatly appreciated.

In class.msg_owner.php, the variable $owner_phone can be a comma separated list of email addresses. Or you can call zen_mail twice with a different 2nd argument the second time.

Hi Scott,
I've been using this module for a while (great stuff, btw), but all of a sudden it seemed to have stopped working.
The only change I made is enable Paypal Express Checkout.
I've read above that Paypal IPN would need a code change and I've applied just to see if it fixed the issue, but it has not.
I'm able to receive the messages if I send myself a copy of the regular email to the SMS gateway...so it does not seem to be the problem.
Has anybody else reported any issues with Paypal Express Checkout?

I haven't heard this before, but it could be that noone has run Paypal EC with this mod before.

What may be happening is the notifier is not triggering like in IPN - please try this. Edit includes/modules/payment/paypalwpp.php
and look for

function terminateEC

after the globals, add the IPN code:

One question, though:does this change only applies for when the customer actually use paypal as the payment method or just in general in order for th emodule to work? We realized the module wasn't working but customers have not used paypal as checkout method, but rather credit cards and cash/money order; money order was the method I used as well to test your suggestion...but again, I'm not sure if the changes you describe here and in your installation files have to be made regardless what method is actually chosen at checkout.
Does it make sense?

This was just an idea for Paypal Express - no other changes should be required to make SMS on Sale work for other payment methods (other than the IPN change which you have already read about).

Ok...so anothe question: am I supposed to keep the change in the "ipn_main_handler.php" or was your suggestion to remove the change there and add the code only to "includes/modules/payment/paypalwpp.php "?

jmsnyder23: The item price is not displayed, only the total. You could display the names but you'd run out of space in 140 characters. That's why this message is condensed to only display the total.

I know that, but I need to know the items in the text message. The items I sell, people would only buy one or two at at a time. Can it be configured to show the item name? Or at least the Model Number?

It cannot be "configured" to do any of these things; you would have to write code to do it.
