"ZenCart Zen" Template Support

gabrobster:

zen cart 1.3.9 is on the test site our real site is using 1.3.8 but will be upgraded before we add this template.

None that will be any issue as the are inserts to sideboxes.

No problem it is just that we would like to add some black tabs at the top where there are currently Home, Log In/Register, Contact Us, My Account, and View Cart.

Is there a way to add tabs to external or internal pages? And what files would need to be edited? It may seem like a dumb question, but I am unexperienced with most PHP issues, though I can manage to changes things if I am pointed in the right direction.

I have attached a picture to show what I am asking about.

open includes/templates/zencart_zen/common/tpl_header.php

add your additional links (using the <li></li>) structure and the tabs will be displayed.

NOTE: We are sorry that Clyde is no longer with us.

I tried it, but I must be doing something wrong, here is the screen shots of the line I wrote and what happened.

Sorry about being a pain.

Re: "ZenCart Zen" Template Support

Clyde,

My cart at https://www.gokaraokemachine.com was working fine on version 1.3.9g.

Then, after upgrading to 1.3.9h, I had a problem with my checkout_shipping page. First, in both Admin and the Store, the page was blank. I re-installed Advanced Shipper and now I can see the Admin page for Ceon's Advanced Shipper module, which has retained my shipping settings.

However, I still cannot see the Cart checkout_shipping page. It says the web page is not available, tells me to reload later, and gives the error message:

Error 118 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT): The operation timed out.

Only one file was changed in version 1.3.9h that is in your template zencart_zen: includes/modules/pages/shopping_cart/header_php.php.

In Winmerge the two files have 9 differences.

I assume I need to merge the version h changes into the template file. As merging files is an operation that is completely new to me, I am posting this before I start. I will let you know if I break anything or if I am successful.

Re: "ZenCart Zen" Template Support

Clyde,

I used "copy right" to copy the changes from 1.3.9h to the Zencart_Zen template file includes/modules/pages/shopping_cart/header_php.php.

When the merge finished, it stated that the version h file and the Zencart_Zen file were identical.

As the Zencart_Zen was different to start with, and the changes went from the version h file to the template file, I would expect the Zencart_Zen file to still be different, just having the new material from version h.

So it looks like I have to figure out what Winmerge is actually doing before trying out the resulting file. I will check back later for your comments.

Re: "ZenCart Zen" Template Support

Clyde,

In Zen Cart version 1.3.9g, which worked with my cart, there are 7 differences between the default and the Zencart_Zen template page for includes/modules/pages/shopping_cart/header_php.php.

In version 1.3.9h there are 9 differences, with the two new differences (shown in Bold Type) being as follows:

At Line 111 in the Winmerge screen:

1.3.9h:
$attr_value = htmlspecialchars($products[$i]['attributes_values'][$option], ENT_COMPAT, CHARSET, TRUE);

Zencart_zen:
$attr_value = $products[$i]['attributes_values'][$option];

and in Winmerge at line 119:

1.3.9h
$attrArray[$option]['products_options_values_name'] = $attr_value;

Zencart_zen:
$attrArray[$option]['products_options_values_name'] = zen_output_string_protected($attr_value) ;

So, I am not sure what to do with these differences, or why the new version was added.

However, one of the solutions to problems that have come up with 1.3.9h, posted here http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showpost.php?p=953964&postcount=6, advised to modify the following:

[QUOTE] ENT_COMPAT, CHARSET, TRUE[QUOTE]

or a similar line with FALSE instead of true, to take out the ", TRUE" or ", FALSE." I do not know if that would be relevant here as it is only applicable if one's web host is not using PHP 5.3 or higher. My host recently upgraded to PHP 5.3, so I would not expect that to make any difference.

So, I will see if adding those 2 differences to the template helps the situation. I have no idea what any of the code means. I will let you know what happens.

Re: "ZenCart Zen" Template Support

My checkout_shipping page blank problem is not a Zencart_zen template problem after all. On checking my test server online, I can indeed see the checkout_shopping page. I see that I did upgrade that site to 1.3.9h. So I will have to compare the two sites to see what the differences might be.

At least I can confirm that the template works fine with 1.3.9h. I have not tried uploading the template with the new additions from 1.3.9h, though, so far.

Re: "ZenCart Zen" Template Support

Hi Clyde,
I'm using (and loving) the Zencart Zen template on my site (laurelsstitchery.com/catalog/) but I have one question. Paypal no longer requires their Express checkout button to be on the shopping cart contents page and there is an option in the Paypal Express setup in Zencart to disable that button. When I disable that button, it still shows up and on the PE help thread, they suggested it may be because I'm using a custom template. Do you have any insight into this issue. It's not a huge deal that it's there, but I think it's confusing to have the PE button and the regular checkout button. I would prefer to have just the regular checkout button by itself and allow people to choose PE later in the checkout process. I hope this is making sense. :)

Laurel

The template makes no changes to that particular page. What you are describing is the default zen cart handling for that page.

If you want to change the color/image you do that in the stylesheet.css

(includes/templates/zencart_zen/css/stylesheet.css)

find the following section: add the highlighted portion.

#headerWrapper {
margin: 0 auto 10px;
background: #0000ff;
text-align: left;
position: relative;
vertical-align: top;
height:150px;
border-bottom: 1px solid #000;
position:relative;
}

If you want to add an image:
first create your image (make sure it is the width of your site and 150px high.
save the image to includes/templates/zencart_zen/images

#headerWrapper {
margin: 0 auto 10px;
background: url(../images/YOUR_NEW_IMAGE.jpg) no-repeat;
text-align: left;
position: relative;
vertical-align: top;
height:150px;
border-bottom: 1px solid #000;
position:relative;
}

Re: "ZenCart Zen" Template Support

Clyde,

First, I really like how clean this template looks. I have noticed one little issue when looking at several people's sites that are using it, however. Everyone seems to have the same missing file: /images/sb_header.png. It shows up in the stylesheet.css but no one seems to have it. I checked the download and don't see it there either. Is there an image missing from the zip? Here is where in stylesheet.css it is called out:

.leftBoxHeading, .rightBoxHeading {
	margin: 0;
	padding: 0.5em 0.2em;
	background-image:url(../images/sb_header.png);
	background-repeat:no-repeat;
	color:#000;
	font-size: 1.3em;
	font-weight: bold;
	font-family:"Comic Sans MS";
