attribute pop up images

Well, nobody replied, so I'll reply to myself.
Got both mods working after merging blag's differences into the other file with WinMerge (great program, and free).
Will do some more testing in the following days and when I'm satisfied that this file is stable will post it here, for the benefit of those who might run into same problem.

Re: attribute pop up images

ckosloff

I've been away for a couple of weeks, but I'm pretty sure that there was no need to merge. I have SBA in my store - in fact, I had it installed prior to the attribute pop up images mod, and I THINK that I make reference to this fact in the instructions for the mod. I think that the attributes.php file in the SBA mod doesn't differ in any significant way from the 'standard' attributes file, but if it does, the merge is necessary. I don't think that there is much point in posting a 'revision' to the attribute pop up images mod, because if you start doing this, you will probably need to do it for EVERY mod that has a potential conflict. A long and slippery slope.

Anyway, nice to hear from you.

Re: attribute pop up images

Actually I was waiting for somebody to show some interest.
There is no need to merge, just use your version of attributes.php, or, if you prefer, install this mod on top of the other.
When I said "merge" I meant that I simply moved differences to the other file so they became identical.
You are right that there is no need to review anything in the mod so far.
In fact, your file is more updated than the one SBA provides.
Hope all is well with you.

Re: attribute pop up images

I just tried what I thought was the most recent version of this. It says

  • @modified for large images Mike Scott June 2007*/
at the top. However, it does not work.

I tried changing the display to check boxes and radio buttons and all the other options, but no go.

The version I have says to put the large images in the "large" directory. Is this the wrong version. If there's a newer one, can someone tell me where to find it?

Thanks

The latest version is of course in the downloads/other section.
You will find it on the first page.
You have to create thumbnails which you will upload to your images/attributes folder using the Attribute Controller in the Admin.
Then you manually upload your large images to your images/large folder.
Please note that you can change the path for this, as explained earlier in this thread.
But get it to work first and then you can play around with it.
Hope this helps.

Re: attribute pop up images

Yes, then I do have the right code. All installed as explained, new attributes.php file in the modules folder for my template, images in the correct places, named properly, new style in the style sheet, javascript in place. Triple checked.

But no go. I just get normal images for attributes. It never writes the "Larger Image" text at all. I even put a little piece of php to echo a message and make sure it was calling the the right file. It was, but it really doesn't work.

Is the code working as written in all instances or is there some other trick to this?
What's the critical piece of info that triggers it to write the alternate urls with the javascript? It looks like it needs to find the appropriately named image files in the "large" directory first?

Thanks for your help.

Re: attribute pop up images

Oh, all this discussion of problems with the code and I checked it and no one has repaired it.

So, that leading / in "/large/" was causing all the problems.
And, of course the other issue is that in Attribute Controller-->Option Names-->Edit you must have Attribute Style for Radio Buttons/Checkbox: set to zero.

Shew!

Well, it's not an ideal mod, but it's a start. A good php-er should be able to fix it up pretty easily and set it to rights for all cases.

I'll try posting the repaired attribute.php file.

Don't forget to put a release number on the mod for tracking purposes.

Hi

as the opriginator of this little hack of a previously-made mod, I think that I ought to chip in.

If you read through some of the posts relating to my mod you will find that the double slash issue you refer to is discusses, but you appear to be the first user who has encountered a specific problem with this. To the best of my recollection, the error has been noted but has (until now) been found to be benign, and therefore deemed not sufficiently significant to warrant a 'fix'. Your experience may warrant the fix, but my php 'gurus' tell me that php is sufficiently forgiving that it will effectively treat two consecutive '/'s in a path as if they are one.

The Attribute Style for Radio Buttons/Checkbox: set to zero issue is (I believe) also discussed in this thread, but I don't believe that it is a problem relating to my mod, but I can't recall the root cause of this problem!!

I do believe that I gave the mod a release number, but it was an oversight if I didn't. I am not a php guru, and had never hacked any php prior to this attempt, so I accept its imperfections and your criticism. If you can contribute by fixing the mod so that it works universally (perhaps including fixes for all browsers), please do so!!

Re: attribute pop up images

I have radio buttons/checkbox set to 3, but I use dropdown.
I never bothered to fix the trailing slash issue, and it works fine.
The only real problem was the jscript folder which has already been dealt with in the thread..
At this point, I don't think a new version is necessary, but that is my HO.

Re: attribute pop up images

I have been scouring the forums for any mention of this kind of support and was hoping maybe someone can point me in the right direction. I have Both zen_lightbox_1.3 and the attribute_popup_large_images_1.0.2 installed and working. I would love it if I could integrate the lightbox use with the popups for the attribute pictures as well. Thank you very much for your time.

Re: attribute pop up images

I have those mods installed too but never been able to make them work together.
It's not really critical for me since IMHO Lightbox is for product images and attributes images are treated differently.

Again, as originator of this tweak to an existing mod, I hold my hands up and repeat that I don't have anywhere near enough php expertise to be able to get Lightbox and Attributes Pop-up Image to 'combine'. My mod stretched the limits of my knowledge and is actually a very modest thing, in that the majority of the work had already been done all I dis was to add some flourishes.

Maybe there is a guru out there who needs the same features as you seek and is prepared to spend the time to work on this. And, of course, generous enough to post it!!

I wish you success in your quest.

Re: attribute pop up images

Pretty new here..Does anyone know how to eliminate the pop-up window with the larger image altogether? My images don't appear any larger than in product description.

Let's get this straight - this mod applies to attribute images, which are 'uploaded' and associated with attributes for a sepcific product e.g. colour, style, etc. This mod does not affect the product images: to show different sizes of images for your product I would suggest you look at some of the other posts about PRODUCT IMAGES, perhaps Image Handler 2!!

Would I be right in thinking that there is some element of confusion here?

you can use an html editor like FCK, look in downloads section --> admin tools.
Then in the product description you just call the image from wherever it is, that won't popup anything.
Don't use the Zen Cart utility to upload an image because that will create a popup.
Clear enough?

If you are referring to the "Click for larger image" which appears under your product listing image, I found the answer by searching the forums. Go to your stylesheet_new.css and ADD the following at the end:

.imgLink {
display:none;
}

this will turn it off.

Thank you, that's what I was looking for, seeing that I already uploaded all my images. I appreciate everyone's input.

Re: attribute pop up images

stylesheet_new.css should be located in YOUR_TEMPLATE folder. The path is:
/zencart/includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/css/stylesheet_new.css.

If you are not using a custom template, then in the TEMPLATE_DEFAULT folder you will find stylesheet.css. Same thing.

HOWEVER, I just discovered that while it turns off the legend "Click for larger image", it does NOT remove the link, so that when someone hovers over the image, they still see the "hand" indicating a link and if they click on the image, it will open a new window with the image in it. Sorry. There needs to be further work. There was another answer to your post earlier in another thread (Image Handler2 ??) which had another approach. I'm looking.
