attribute pop up images

Kewl... to see activity in the thread.

Anyone try to take the plunge and advance the Images Styles to work for more than just the "0" selection?

Image Styles:
0= Images Below Option Names
1= Element, Image and Option Value
2= Element, Image and Option Name Below
3= Option Name Below Element and Image
4= Element Below Image and Option Name
5= Element Above Image and Option Name

I have option 3 set for my site and it works fine.

Re: attribute pop up images

Option 3 ?!? Hrmm. Nothing above 0 works for me. Hm. Let me go back and see what is happening here. Hmm.

Re: attribute pop up images

No go. I set to Option 3, but it will only work with Dropdown selected. It does not work with radio or checkbox.

Do you have either Radio or Checkbox selected on your site? Be cool to hear how your set up is operating.

Re: attribute pop up images

ckosloff, also note that I am talking about attribute images. Not the Product image.

What template might you be running? I wonder if this make a diff. No matter what I do, I can only have '0' as a setting to get the pop attribute image to work, sigh.

It is a template that I developed in collaboration with gjh42, you can find it in the download area: Additional images relocated with CSS.
However, for my site I have implemented some modifications since last publication, like moving the Add To Cart to the end of product display.
I should update that template.

All I can tell you is that I tried all available options before settling on option 3, and all of them seemed to work.
Maybe you have a conflict with some other script running?

I believe it has to do with the template choice. Was able to perform things in a standard template, but Gallery2 specific template does not play nice with some attribute choices at all. So am digging deep into how the templates are constructed, and working to solve it from that angle.

Still having a problem with I.E. displaying a simple attribute images tho. Have posted to another thread looking for help on this...

Aha, that might be the case.
Additional images relocated with CSS is not really a template, just a way of re-arranging the display of product using the same Zen Cart files.

Re: attribute pop up images

I am now having to rebuild the template aspect totally. The attribute image popups work perfectly in a test site, with the same theme, but not on the soon to be production site. I am not sure when it broke, so rather than go backwards and try and figure out what line of code blew it up, will just reinstall from ground up and see. That unfortunately is a faster approach at this point.... sigh. Still, gotta love ZenCart tho.

If it works on the test site, why don't you just clone the test site?
Easier than to start from scratch...

Re: attribute pop up images

I am not quite comfortable cloning as you say. Am sitting here now, trying to do a side by side comparison of what file may have changed that is causing the attribute images to not display. I always make a backup of a file, and date it, so I can always go backwards. But for some reason, I am not finding that one file that appears to be the culprit. Am reaching the point where just installing from ground up and applying the code changes is easier than chasing after the needle in the haystack.

At least I am learning a LOT. Painfull, but learning.

Re: attribute pop up images

As an FYI, I installed from scratch a new ZenCart. Used the classic template. Added an attribute image, and I.E. failed. Right out of the box. No tweaks.

Am giving up on trying to get attribute images to work in ZenCart. I rarely give up on something, but I.E. just presents too many problems, and I can see why no one wants to respond with ideas to the problems with I.E. Oh well...

I don't know what your problem may be.
However I can tell you that there are thousands of sites, including mine, where attribute images work fine in IE.
I really don't like the browser, but as a businessman have to code for it.
Also, why don't you feel comfortable cloning a site if it works, it's really very easy: just transfer all the files and the database and connect them both in configure.php.

Hi, tx for the response.

Part of the reason for not cloning is I want to know why and how it works. Having banged on ZC for a month now, thought I had a handle on its behavior. But not being able to replicate behavior concerns me because I won't be able to tweak the site with confidence.

Ya, the cloning method you describe yes, can do. But as mentioned above, am not confident on not being able to depend on the behavior of ZC if I can't replicate it.

Here's a link that displays in everything except I.E.: http://amnpctwo.tplweb.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_gallery_info&cPath=65_68_70&products_id=187

There are 7 attribute images. If you view it in FF or similar, no problem. I.E., no go.

I installed the Sample ZC with it and attribute images work in other products. Anything new I create, no go.

If you have any thoughts on it, would love to hear. It has me scratching my head fer sure.

tx

Re: attribute pop up images

Well, I have finally been able to isolate I believe, the issue. I was able to make attribute images and have them display in I.E.. But when I went to create attribute images using gallery2 bridge, this is where it broke down. Was able to isolate the errors with a wc3 validator.

Now, how to fix is another thing. But I now have at least seen where the behavior is located, and it is not at ZenCart's feet, but with the way it interacts with the bridge. Too bad because all the code is sent to I.E., and it works in everything but I.E. Oh well...

The site looks broken in FF too.
Maybe that is why it is not displaying image in IE.
Try to display everything correctly in FF first, easier because you have more developer tools, then start to compatibilize for IE.

Hello,

Tx for the response. Makes it not so lonely out here in development-land.

The site you looked at is a test site that I am hammering on. Adding all kinds of changes to see how they behave. That is why it looks so skewed. It is odd how inside ZenCart, everything works, but when the Gallery2 bridge is added, products that are listed via the bridge fail at the attribute image level. It appears to be a single character causing the problem. I will get together with the developer of the bridge and see if we can smooth that out.

It's a shame because I am able to bolt in at this point..... 44,000 images into a single product, but I can't get the product attributes to display, in I.E. only. Boo hoo. At least a WC3 Validator shows where the problem appears to be. I do not know enough, yet, how the code threads together, but at least it is isolated, I think.

I will have to create a Sample List of many products instead, which is sooooooooooo counterproductive, but right now, that is the only solution. Sigh...

Sorry, but really unable to help you there.
I don't even know what the Gallery2 bridge is...
