If you fail to put in your keys and token string then there is now way for the program to talk to eBay. How could it possibly? So as a result your get FATAL ERROR.

Your impatience caused those errors. There are also question marks next to each field in the installer. These generally mean "What is this?" If you click on those you will see that the CSS opens up a small bit of text below the entry explaining what goes where.

I have heard your complaint and I am removing this from the installer altogether. It was a first attempt on an installer. People don't get it. I will change it to something else.

The Fatal Error was AFTER following all of your installation instructions, including the keys/token string from eBay. I did not 'blow right by that page'... Yes, there are 'question marks' by each field. For instance, the one by the field for the Developer Key tells you "this is your Developer Key".

Apparently, I'm not the only individual who's had problems with this (your comment above)... but I appear to be the only one you're yelling at. I guess I should feel special.

Apparently I may have found another glitch - ALP isn't picking up the image, although the image location is listed correctly (double checked by copying it into another browser window and it brought the image up without a hitch).

Is there a size limitation on images? Perhaps that's the issue?

You might try being a little understanding of the entire situation, rather than just hopping in and attempting to stir up trouble.

David, you have done a remarkable thing here. No doubt about that. Regardless of whether you have written the code from scratch, or re-written existing code ( my bet is on "from scratch").

If you "doubting thomas' read through the ebay regulations on third party software, you will see that you absolutely 100% have to have developers keys in place to be able to talk to ebays servers (via a program like ALP). I brought up the same questions before and was promptly directed to ebay's developers forums for the facts. Any one questioning this should do the same. All of the other online services that do this, ie Auction Blox or Auction 4 Store, who pay thousands of dollars a month for their keys, and have to charge a monthly fee to recoupe their costs.

David has found a way around this for us, and we need to be patient with him, and his painstaking work on this project. Lots and LOTS of code to cypher through, and debug, and all for just a few pennies, or nothing at all from most people that will use this mod. (guilty as charged, since I've only donated $5 myself so far)

David, I apologise if I've seemed a bit impatient at times, I really don't need to be, or mean to be. I'm in no hurry, but others are. Take it all with a grain of salt, and you do what you feel you need to do.

I can see the "entire situation" and it appears to me that you aren't very good at following instructions. Lots of people here have this mod working just fine so it appears to be operator error to me. :lamo:

I just did a fresh install of Zen cart 1.3.7 with latest patches and ALP 0.5.3.1 on http://zen.auctionlisterpro.com and http://zen.auctionlisterpro.com/alp

I can't reproduce the cache error that you are experiencing but I am noting several other annoyances with regard to the latest ALP release that I need to address. I am able to post/track auctions however.

I suspected that this would happen when switching off globals throughout the entire code base to make it more Zen Cart friendly.

If you see issues with the alp installation not working correctly then I am more than likely under the hood breaking something.

With regard to the Category Tool and only being able to see one select button next to Gift Certificates...all the categories are hyper links. You can click the name of the hyper link to drill down to get to other categories. When the category does not have any further sub categories you will see a Select button appear next to the name.

The number next to the category is an eBay number. They are displayed with hopes that you will remember them eventually so you can quickly type them in without having to use this tool all of the time. I test with 617 out of habit.:smile:

If you get lost there is a breadcrumb at the top....just click on Top Level and it will take you back to the beginning.

Do steps one and two. You will need your developer keys and auth token. They walk you through it.

When you have gotten those run the ALP installer again. When you get to the eBay part just paste in those things. Your eBay Site ID will be 0 if you want to use eBay.com

I've got all the key codes & such installed... infact, once I was able to clarify a few items on the installer (most likely due to my provider's set up) it appeared to install pretty smoothly.
Well, other than the button to go to the administration screen taking me to an empty page (but that was easy to work around). Installed the ebay categories in the same fashion. Again, appears to have done this smoothly. Unfortunately, still having errors. I am wondering if there is something in the hard code that may be failing to recognize a table in the db.
My original ZenCart install (from years back) was via Fantastico... and I've left it there simply because what few issues come up were familiar and pretty easy for me to repair. However, it does put a prefix on DB tables (logical reason from a hosting standpoint, pain in the a** from any other).

Additionally, the odd glitch that ALP isn't picking up the images, in spite of the fact that it is picking up the correct location for them.

You said that was your first attempt at an installer? Wow. Pretty impressive... as well as a daunting project for a first try. Bravo.

That should show up as "http://mystore.com/" This is causing the images problem.

The blank page is due to a missing prefix in the ALP configuration. PHP5 will show a blank page when the script errors as a security precaution. I will fix that.

I also need to merge in an upgrade path for future versions so it doesn't wipe out everything that is already existing.

I'm hoping it's a simple fix, and not a line of code that appears 200 times :(
Not on PHP5 (yet). Got around the button failing by just entering the https://www.mystore.com/alp/ and it came up fine.
Positive notes: It does recognize a secure connection, but lists it as 'unknown'.

If error reporting is turned off on any PHP server and the SQL fails you will get a blank page.

Right now what is happening is that ALP is trying to query the database using something like "products" when on your installation it is actually "zen_products".

Without the prefix, which IS hardcoded, it will fail. I am working on the installer now to get these fixed.

Ok database prefixes have been added to the installer so you can specify this when you are setting it all up.

There are a couple of issues that I would like to address before I release 0.5.3.2.

Just a quick update on where I am with everything. I need to be able to support both PHP4 and 5. I've noticed that people are running versions below 4.3.1 which is also a globals problem. If I turn off globals entirely without taking this into account there are problems. So I have started working on addressing this issue as well.

Unfortunately I have run out of steam and my body requires some rest. Changes are coming along swiftly but not as quickly as I would have liked them to. Lots of code. I will work on this some more later today after I have slept for a bit and give you all an update then.

I was working on version 0.5.4 before we had all these problems earlier with globals so I am going to go ahead and concentrate on getting that out the door.

This will address globals throughout the framework and will work transparently whether you have globals enabled or not.

It also address some security concerns with file based password authentication and hopefully I will get key and token security built in as well. The database framework has already been added. It's simply a matter of coding up the pages for it.

Moving forward this will allow you to have multiple eBay accounts to create auctions that will be selectable from the auction creation screen. I am also working on the main configuration pages for ALP.
