Re: Admin-Editable Sidebox - Support Thread

Hi, I cant seem to get this to work. I have followed the instruction for putting this into my custom template and have tripple checked everything.

The selection does show up in my Layout box controller and it is turned on. On the site it shows the box with the heading with nothing in it. But when I go to the define page editor there is nothing there. The name that I edited it to in the editable_sidebox_defines.php is not there.

Best Regards,
Scott

Re: Admin-Editable Sidebox - Support Thread

It still does the same thing that it did before I tried to put it into my custom template. In the define page editor it shows up as define_editable_sidebox_content.php and not what I named the editable_sidebox_defines.php. When I add anything to it nothing shows up in the sidebox.

I even tried to upload an edited define_editable_sidebox_content.php but no change

Best Regards,
Scott

Re: Admin-Editable Sidebox - Support Thread

It sounds as though you're moving the files about and redefining their locations and that's breaking something.

I recommend just putting the files in the positions in which they come in the release package. When the box is enabled through the layout box controller that will just work.

Then make your changes one by one, to see which causes it to break. Report back here with the details of that change and it should be possible to work out why it's failing.

Re: Admin-Editable Sidebox - Support Thread

I got it to work just fine. Don't know exactly what the problem was. I deleted the folder from my computer and started from scratch with unzipping the addon and uploaded the unchanged files. Worked great.

Now I just need to learn how to make other pages that look like my ezpages.

Scott

Re: Admin-Editable Sidebox - Support Thread

How do I insert a simple FB like feature in this editable side box?
This is the code but just appears blank?

<div class="fb-like-box" data-href="http://www.facebook.com/platform" data-width="292" data-show-faces="true" data-border-color="pink" data-stream="true" data-header="true"></div>

Re: Admin-Editable Sidebox - Support Thread

There's no 1.5-related reason why it shouldn't work.

Re: Admin-Editable Sidebox - Support Thread

Just installed this and going through the manual it makes refference to " open the includes/languages/english/extra_definitions/editable_sidebox_defines.php and replace the text that says Blank Sidebox Header " I don't see where it says that , the only thing i see that has blank in it is " blank_sidebopx.php " so what is this refering to ?
I do have it working but i do notice that the spaces beteween the sideboxes have disappeared, as seen at www.nostik.ca
is there a way to get the spacing back ?
Thank you.

If you wait to do everything until you're sure it's right, you'll probably never do much of anything !!!

Re: Admin-Editable Sidebox - Support Thread

I have installed the editable sidebox on my test site and it seemed to be working fine.
I then went into the 'define pages editor' and using plain text entered the content i wanted which was simply:
'Prices Now Showing Inclusive of VAT'

This worked fine, see screenshot 'editable sidebox plain text'

I then went into the html edit and tried to change the colour of the text etc and this saved ok.

Then when I vew on the site this shows up as code rather than text, please see 'screenshot editable sidebox html'

Would really appreciate any help on this as would like to get this uploaded to my live site. The mod seems excellent

Thnks

Re: Admin-Editable Sidebox - Support Thread

Hi,
I am very new to all of this. I have managed to get my site to look the way I want it to except I would like to have 2 category side boxes. I am combining 2 stores into one. One site machine embroidery designs and the second site is clipart. I would like to have a category sidebox for each, but am having problems getting the the right folders attached to the right sidebox. I have tried the separate category sidebox, but what happened is all of the products show in the Designs sidebox and nothing in the clipart sidebox. Would the Editable Sidebox be a better choice? How do I direct the folders I want to show into each sidebox so that they show under the correct category? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Ellen
