Need help with Virtual Merchant module

I have to be honest with you that I don't think I'm going to have this done by Dec 1. I do sell Auth.net but I'd feel a little odd doing that as it would seem a conflict of interest. Anything I can do I'm willing to do to help. I'm sorry the code won't be ready in time. I've got a version that works to the point of returning approvals and declines, but if you get an error the shopping cart will show it as an approval but the client will not be paid.

Please let me know what I can do to help your situation. (aside from waiving a wand and making the module work, which I'd love to do mind you, just being realistic)

Re: Need help with Virtual Merchant module

Hi,

Well, what I just told my client is we can go with Authorize.net for now and
then if she wants to switch to Virtual Merchant when the module is finished,
she can. Main thing is to get up and running by Dec. 1. Virtual Merchant told
me tonight she can still use the same merchant account with Authorize.net--just needs another terminal ID. So I think we can make the deadline.

So the problem right now with the new mod is the error handling?

Thanks!

Re: Need help with Virtual Merchant module

I have a client who is interested in using VirtualMerchant and am willing to help with this module.

Does anyone have a "work in progress" module that I can look at? I rather not re-invent the wheel by using the ViaKlix template from scratch if someone is already ahead.

Will keep you all updated.

Re: Need help with Virtual Merchant module

Hi Patch and other VM mod people,
I am looking at setting up with Nova for my merchant account and I would like to go with the VirtualMerchant if possible. How long do you think it will take to finish the VM mod?

If I go with Nova, I can also use Beanstream as a gateway. However, the mod for that gateway is currently being written as well (by Dr. Byte), so it is also not yet available.

My other choice is to use Moneris/e-Select, but the Moneris mod has bugs and needs some fixes to it before it can be used.

With any of these choices, there does not seem to be a working mod for Zen Cart, so either way, I have to wait for something to be written/fixed.

I am certainly interested in seeing a working VM mod, and I'm sure many other people are as well. The Nova/VM people told me that everyone using ViaKlix will eventually (probably not too far off) have to change to VirtualMerchant. So, all the Zenners out there using ViaKlix will be looking for a VM mod soon.

The tech support person at Merchant Connect (VM's tech department) told me to send the existing Zen ViaKlix mod to their software people to see if it can modified to be used for VirtualMerchant. I did that and asked them what can be done with it. Maybe that will help with the development of the VM mod. When (or if) I hear back from them, I will let everyone here know what they advise.

I wish I could help with this VM mod, but my coding skills are rather limited. Therefore, I will have to rely on you more experienced people to pull this one off. I am cheering for you though.

Hi,

We're going with Authorize.net, but I'll keep following development of the
Virtual Merchant payment mod here in case my client wants to try it later.
Thanks for your help, everyone.

If you don't mind send me the code you were working on. Perhaps between it and what I've got I can come out with something. I can tell you that a LOT of this work will be done over the weekend. My week is pretty full wrapping up a site I've been working on for a month now. I'm late in launching it so it has priority now.

What email address were you given? The reason I always ask this question is because I have worked on this for so long I've developed some ties there. If it was [email protected] then I bet I know who will get it so I could then make sure I tell my guy to go see that guy. So to speak, LOL

I'll work as quickly as possible on this Jeanne, I know that auth.net charges a .10 per transaction so it's going to add up after a while. As soon as I get a working module that covers EVERYTHING I'll be announcing and releasing here.

Re: Need help with Virtual Merchant module

Its hard to say when this is going to be done. I can, however, say I have a deadline of Dec 1, 07, and I usually don't miss deadlines. Still, I can't say its guaranteed.

I am waiting for ThePatch's piece of code so I can look at the error handling. Once I get it I hope to have something in the next few days. Toboldlygo, if you could send me a copy of your code as well it might be helpful.

Hi Patch,
I have attached the ViaKlix mod I have. I have not done any work to it myself. I downloaded it from a posting in this forum. It was based on another ViaKlix mod and has some bug fixes in it done by some other Zen contributors. I have not tested it myself, so I cannot attest to its reliability.

There was another posting in the forum about a bug fix that might also be useful. It can be found at:

http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=68561&highlight=costly+viaklix

The VM people told me to email the ViaKlix files to [email protected] . I only emailed it yesterday, so I have not yet received a response.

I hope this helps.

Thank you for your response. I will read over this entry right away.

ThePatch, not sure if you had a chance to e-mail me your code but I have not received anything. If it is easier to post the specific block of code that is causing you grief I'd be more than happy to look at it.

Thanks all.

Re: Need help with Virtual Merchant module

Hi Patch and all you other people working on this mod,
With this VM mod, will customers be able to stay on your website during the payment process (i.e. not be taken to a hosted payment page)?

Thanks

Re: Need help with Virtual Merchant module

We hope to make it transparent to the user, there will be no checkout form. They need to, however, be temporarily redirected to myvirtualmerchant.com to submit the appropriate variables which will all be automated without the user knowing this has happened.

Hi noisebug,
Sorry, I am a little confused. Where would the customer actually enter their credit card info., on the Zen Cart page (page 2 of the checkout process), or on a virtual merchant page?

Re: Need help with Virtual Merchant module

Hi Patch,

Thanks--much appreciated. I'll watch out for the announcement of the
completed mod. And know my client will appreciate it (even though she
may not realize YET why switching back to VM may be to her advantage).

Best,
Jeanne

Re: Need help with Virtual Merchant module

They would enter their info in Zencart. The process would look like this:

  1. Customer enters CC in Zen Cart
  2. Zencart collects all information and gives to Virtual Merchant
  3. VM authorizes CC, redirects back to Zen Cart
  4. Zen Cart shows receipt for transaction

Hi noisebug,
Thanks for your response. That is what I wanted to hear. I don't want customers to have to leave my site to pay, so this mod sounds like it will be just what I am looking for. I will watch for it with anticipation.

Thanks

Re: Need help with Virtual Merchant module

Since my client does not have a MerchantID (we are still waiting, ETA is 3 days),
I will need some help testing the code.

I took the ViaKlix and changed a few parameters, however, when I try and test it tells me the VM website is down. I'm not sure if VM is having issues or if its a problem with the module.

Thanks

-->VirtualMerchant Mod<--

PS: I did not change the name "ViaKlix" in the module. Rest assured, it will connect to VM not Viaklix.

Re: Need help with Virtual Merchant module

Hi noisebug,
Did you use the ViaKlix mod that I posted in this thread to make your changes? I noticed that you changed the URL to go to VM instead of ViaKlix. Is that the only change you did?
