Need help with Virtual Merchant module

Well, I'm still waiting on Virtual Merchant to get back to me so that I can get an account to really try stuff on. I'm still having an issue where no matter what I'm sending to them with that Demo account info I just get a blank screen at the address of the form action (demo.myvirtualmerchant.com).

As for the error control, I should think that would be pretty easy. Instead of using VM to decide if something should be redirected to one place or another, do it in the script and just use

   zen_draw_hidden_field('ssl_receipt_link_method', 'REDG') .
   zen_draw_hidden_field('ssl_receipt_link_url', zen_href_link(FILENAME_CHECKOUT_PROCESS, '', 'SSL', false)) .

Then just use the before_process method to check and see if ssl_result is returned to either continue or return to the processing page an report the error. Something like:

if (isset($_GET['ssl_result']) && $_GET['ssl_result']==0) {
do the good stuff
} elseif (isset($_GET['ssl_result']) && $_GET['ssl_result']!=0) {
redirect with error $_GET['ssl_result_message']
} elseif (isset($_GET['errorCode'])) {
redirect with error $_GET['ssl_error_code'] or where ever that message is stored
}

Is there a reason this wouldn't work?

Michael

Re: Need help with Virtual Merchant module

I believe, at some point in my work, i've tried it the ways you guys are suggesting.

I think RTW and I might be on to something. He's sending me his code so I can test it in different scenarios.

Your blank screen your getting, is anything being passed in the headers? Can you share what it is if they are?

Right now I have the auth referrers turned on to cause a logic error; if you like I can turn that off so you guys can test other issues.

Re: Need help with Virtual Merchant module

I think I might have taken a slightly different approach to this than i8beef. I'm not using the VM receipting options at all, I'm just submitting the card for authorization and processing the info that comes back from VM, which includes approves, denies, errors, etc. and then displaying that to the user in a fairly generic format. And, logging everything along the way, with the exception of CC#/CVV#. I think it would probably be a lot more difficult to deal with trying to code around the VM receipt process, so you might be making it harder than it needs to be, unless you really want their receipts. With what I've got set up, you do get the approval code, transaction number, etc. on a good transaction, so not sure what else one might need there. Just my perspective on it.

This way it gives the user the appearance of having never left your store and having the integrated card processing all in one shot.

I think we're getting pretty close to coming up with a workable solution here based on what I'm seeing so far. :)

Re: Need help with Virtual Merchant module

Mr. Patch, I've sent you an updated PHP file in the mail. I think I fixed the error handling as described above. Its really simple so I hope I'm not over looking something.

  1. IF SSL_RESULT does NOT = 0, see what result SSL_RESULT is
  2. IF SSL_RESULT does NOT match known error, return to checkout with generic message
  3. IF SSL_RESULT does match error, return with appropriate error message

I tested the module, and it seems to work. I get kicked back to the checkout page when I try to connect to your test server. If you could test this code, but turn referrals off, that would be great.

Re: Need help with Virtual Merchant module

Wanted to let everyone know that we have a heartbeat, well it's beyond that actually, it's done. RTW819 is the man to thank. He's going to clean up the code a good bit and then get some garbage out of the way before he posts it. Should be tonight,

3 cheers for RTW819!

Re: Need help with Virtual Merchant module

Hi all, well, we're close -- really close. I've got a couple of minor tweaks remaining in some of the error reporting, as I uncovered a minor reporting issue with some final testing I was doing this evening on version 1.0. Things in that respect have changed a bit from viaklix, but it does give back more information, just need to handle and parse it properly. Should be an easy fix, but I've run out of time tonight. Hopefully will get it fixed up and posted tomorrow after the day job.

Thanks for your patience, will have something very soon!! You'll see it here first!

Re: Need help with Virtual Merchant module

RTW, sounds like you are doing exactly what I'm describing actually. Are you using CURL to do this, or are you simply having VM redirect back to you with everything? This is how I've been wanting to do it, and then just checking for ssl_result and the logic errors.

My issue right now is still there though. I changed my code to redirect all requests back to zencart, and doesn't use VM's receipt decl or accept redirects. But I don't get jack when I post to the demo site. Odd. I'm not sure if this is because of the logic errors, or what, but it is weird. I don't have my own VM account to test on, so I have no way of knowing if I'm making some mistake or VM is.

And VM's tech support isn't being very helpful in getting back to me in a timely manner.

Re: Need help with Virtual Merchant module

Hmm, found it. Apparently ssl_do_customer_email didn't do what I thought it did and was causing VM to puke. Mine works now too. Cool!

Re: Need help with Virtual Merchant module

As we all wait for the posting of the VM module, I want to thank all of you who have put in countless hours working on this pesky payment module. For those of us not quite knowledgeable enough in the coding department we have been :clap::clap: cheering you on daily.
Thank you for the team effort here folks!

Short Feature List:

  • Capable of using either PHP cURL or Command Line cURL options with/without Proxy
  • Heavily tested against Virtual Merchant Web Terminal API

  • Admin email option on transaction failures/problems
  • Logs to file with configurable debugging depth for troubleshooting and day-to-day operation
  • Lots of little bugs have been squished, and improvements made to match VM interface features

Please read the included README file, as it includes installation instructions and other pertinent information YOU NEED TO KNOW for using this module. Please read prior to posting questions. :)

*** Be sure to LOCK DOWN your logs directory, ask your web hosting provider for assistance or alternatively disable the logging from the Admin menu if you do not know how to lock down that directory. (See the README for full info.)

A big thanks to ThePatch for his assistance in testing and validation!!

Enjoy!

Re: Need help with Virtual Merchant module

Hi,
I installed the VM mod and I get this error in my admin.:

The Virtual Merchant Payment Gateway module requires cURL functions, the Binary Executable configured was NOT FOUND!

I am assuming this has to be set up on my server. Can anyone tell me how to fix this?

Thanks

Re: Need help with Virtual Merchant module

Try changing the following settings:

Use PHP Curl?
False

cURL Executable Path - Non-PHP only
/usr/bin/curl

I had the same error during our testing and changing the above fixed it

Re: Need help with Virtual Merchant module

Hi,
Please disregard the previous post I made

I read the instructions over a second time and found out what I needed know in "Database Additional Options" section. I guess I was not set up for PHP curl so I just had to find where my curl binary executable was located, input that into the applicable space in the mod's admin options, and the warning message disappeared.

Looks good now.
