Display price with VAT/TAX and Ex VAT/TAX

Hi,

been playing around with this mod a little, and it seems to work just fine until I view my shopping cart :

The sub-total is correct, but the individual prices are $0.

Tried to delete "tpl_modules_order_totals.php" but it makes no difference.

Also tried countrycharm's version of the file as suggested in the post above, but I'm still getting the same results.

Any ideas what I'm missing? This is on a clean 1.5.3 install, so it shouldn't be any conflicting issues.

Would love to get this mod working, as I sell internationally I want to provide an easier way for my "tax-free" customers to see their correct prices without having to login :)

Best regards

Peter

Re: Display price with VAT/TAX and Ex VAT/TAX

I have just installed this mod on 1.5.3 and i am getting strange calculations on check out
the item is £29.17 ex VAT with NO MODULE install the standard check out gives this.
Your Total
£29.17
Sub-Total:
£0.00 Store Pickup (Walk In):
£5.83VAT:
£35.00Total:
Which is correct

with the MODULE INSTALLED
i get this
Your Total
Ex VAT £29.00 > this is wrong should be £29.17
Inc VAT ££34.83 > this is wrong should be £35.00
Sub-Total:
£0.00 Store Pickup (Walk In):
£5.83VAT: > this is correct
£35.00Total: > this is correct

Is there a setting or a round up in the code thats needs changing
Totally lost with this. Can anyone explain??????

I have the same problem as shown in the image (the shopping cart page shows incorrect zero unit and total amounts). Went from 151 to 153 and also 151 to 154 via DB upgrades. Be good to get this fixed.

Re: Display price with VAT/TAX and Ex VAT/TAX

In includes\functions\extra_functions\inc_ex_functions.php

  function set_inc_ex_display($price_ex,$price_inc)
  {
    global $currencies;

	$content="";

	if($price_ex == $price_inc) // Zero tax

	{
		$content='<span class="productTaxZeroPrice"> '.$currencies->format($price_ex).' '.PRICE_ZERO_TAX_TEXT.'</span>';

both $price_ex and $price_inc evaluate to zero and therefore are equal.

Changing

	if($price_ex == $price_inc) // Zero tax

to

	if($price_ex > $price_inc) // Zero tax

restores the inc & ex defines in the shopping cart, but this is NOT a fix.

Only highlighting where the problem may lie.

If the $price_inc and the $price_ex are both evaluating to 0 before getting to this portion of the code, then the above fix would not correct the issue... That section of code is to identify that either there is or there is not tax to be applied, in the case of no tax to be applied (as in, the price that includes tax and the price that excludes tax is the same) then display that there is no tax applied. If there is some requirement to pay tax even if the product is or has zero cost, then that statement or similar would have to evaluate against the actual value of either of those values to see if they are set to something other than zero as applicable to address the requirement for that tax.

Re: Display price with VAT/TAX and Ex VAT/TAX

Part of the problem is that my coding skills do not permit me to see or find where $price_ex and $price_inc are calculated or otherwise defined.

Understand regarding programming skills. In this case would need/want to find the function(s) that call the above code. Somewhere in that code or the code that calls that would be what is assigning the values to zero.

I've seen this work properly (although still having some form of rounding error or another (possibly a penny off), but don't recall what files were involved to make it happen.

Fixed, incorrectly merged files, especially includes/modules/pages/shopping_cart/header_php.php.

Re: Display price with VAT/TAX and Ex VAT/TAX

Used this on the live store and it works fine, had a redesign and an update to the latest zen cart version on a test server and the VAT shows when not logged in but everything displays at VAT free when logged into an account.

Any idea?

Thanks

Not sure that this is a problem. If one creates an account, is there anything that asks for a VAT# as a customer? If so, what if that is left blank or otherwise incorrectly completed, do prices still show without VAT? Above is stated that site was upgraded and redesigned, I have seen a plugin that "identifies" the customer to have to pay VAT or not to based on their VAT info.

So difficult to call this a problem... Yet...

Re: Display price with VAT/TAX and Ex VAT/TAX

Managed to work out that issue, by changing zones around a little.

However this ran me into another issue where on the checkout screen it still states that everything is vat free until but not the subtotal.

Re: Display price with VAT/TAX and Ex VAT/TAX

Hi,

I'd like to display both Incl TAX/Excl TAX prices only when a customer has performed the login.
When not logged in, the store should display all Incl TAX prices.

How could I do it?
Thank you.
PS: using Zen 1,3,9H

Re: Display price with VAT/TAX and Ex VAT/TAX

I realize this post seems to have died a death, but I have had this mod installed on my old website (1.3.8a) for years with no issues and has worked flawlessly

Upon upgrading my copy test site the official way (1.55a) the website no longer displays the vat in any form any where on the site

I am just wondering if this mod will be updated or even added into the core of zencart in the future as its such a neat future and in this day and age has a definite need to be usable some how and included

Help please some one !!!

Re: Display price with VAT/TAX and Ex VAT/TAX

Hi,

Are there any plans to get this module to work with the latest Responsive Classic Template?

I’m currently using Zen Cart v1.5.5a.

I’ve tried installing (uninstalling and reinstalling) the “Display price with VAT/TAX and Ex VAT/TAX” plugin several times but the product info pages and cart do not display well.

All seems to go well until you upload:

tpl_product_info_display
tpl_shopping_cart

These two files cause multiple display issues – background colour changes, images and text become misaligned, footer text becomes misaligned etc etc.

I have used this plugin one several earlier versions of Zen Cart without issue.

Other than the display issues the module seems to work okay.

Working with the latest template and incorporating the changes made to support display are two different things.

Ie. What is needed to have your current template display the desired information is to identify what changes were made to a default ZC version of the template and apply those changes to your current template.

That is different than just uploading the file that is/was provided.

The same process would need to be followed if two or more plugin's were installed that both modified the same file but for different reasons or in non-conflicting areas of code. Otherwise, uploading one file would provide the desired effect for that plugin, but then uploading the second file in replacement of the first would remove the operation of the first and make the second "functional".

Re: Display price with VAT/TAX and Ex VAT/TAX

I'm getting a warning when using this module with PHP 7.3

PHP Warning: Use of undefined constant display_special_price - assumed 'display_special_price' (this will throw an Error in a future version of PHP) in /home/xxxxxxxx/public_html/includes/functions/extra_functions/inc_ex_functions.php on line 56

Line 56 is:

$discount_price=($display_sale_price!=0?$display_sale_price:display_special_price);

This variable is later used by the following code:

if($display_normal_price!=0)
   $discount_amount=($display_normal_price!= 0?(100-(($discount_price/$display_normal_price)*100)):0);
  else
   $discount_amount=$display_normal_price-$discount_price;

Looking at that, I'm not convinced just changing it to

$discount_price=($display_sale_price!=0?$display_sale_price:'display_special_price');

is the correct solution.

Any suggestions

Re: Display price with VAT/TAX and Ex VAT/TAX

That's a blatant bug. Change line 56 from:
$discount_price=($display_sale_price!=0?$display_sale_price:display_special_price);
to
$discount_price=($display_sale_price!=0?$display_sale_price:$display_special_price);
