Paymentech (aka VersaPay, aka Orbital)

VersaPay in Vancouver represented the best value for me in terms of credit card processing. They use Chase Manhatten's Orbital gateway. The system is often known more commonly by the name Paymentech.

There was an old module floating around, but it didn't work with the new ZenCart. So my company paid to have one developed from scratch.

At the encouragement of some members and because we have benefited from the contributions of this community, I asked my partners if we could release it back to the community. So this code is now presented to the ZenCart community free of charge, but also free of warranty, expressed or implied, and you use it at your own risk. You may modify and re-release as you see fit, but I would suggest we keep it in this thread for the sake of organization and work on getting a single good release out rather than multiple ones.

I have uploaded the package to the downloads section, it may take up to 48 hours for it to show there.

Do NOT email me or PM me for support with this module! It is supplied as-is, but you may ask questions here for community input

It has ONLY been tested on our store!
Our store is Canadian based and accepts multiple currencies but only CAD/USD via credit card.
Credits, Split shippments, Voids, etc must be done via your Virtual Terminal and is not supported by this contrib. Only Auth/Capt or Auth is supported at the moment.

Cheers!

Re: Paymentech (aka VersaPay, aka Orbital)

Hi Steven,
Thank you for your contribution. Is your Paymentech mod able to access Interac Online?

Does your mod have customers enter their CC info on the website (i.e. they don't leave your website), or does it take them to a site hosted by Paymentech?

I am looking at Versapay for my merchant account/gateway. Did you find that they had better deals than to deal directly with Chase Paymentech?

Thanks

Re: Paymentech (aka VersaPay, aka Orbital)

I use VersaPay as well, they're the only ones that pick up the phone when you call and you get a live person. Their support group is probably the best i have seen in Canada and they do have the best value, even lower processing rates than Chase (and chase is useless for service).

Versapay helped me get the cart working, I was going to use paypal to make things easy but again versapay came through :clap:

If you really want amazing service ask for kevin in vancouver, hes one of the partners and he is a tech genius

No, not setup for Interac Online, but certainly the foundation is there and it can be modded for it. I have no way of doing it since I didn't sign up for IO so I can't test it and don't know the requirements, but it certainly is possible and would be a wonderful addition to the contribution.

They enter their CC info on your website, which must be secure for Paymentech to approve it!

I didn't try going to Chase directly. I didn't even know Chase had anything to do with it until after finding VersaPay. But let me put it this way... I searched for over 2 years (off and on) and never found anything that offered better value for my store than PayPal... until I found VersaPay. They offered me a very good rate right away and their fees were more reasonable than most. If anyone actually wants to sign up with them, pm me and I'll give you the contact name of the person I used. I already discussed with her about referalls, and she said she would give a great deal to anyone I send their way, and they give me $50 credit. Worth a try anyway.

I guess they have good staff all round, because I never spoke to Kevin and I would say the person I dealt with couldn't be beat! So glad to know they are made up of good people. I agree - customer service is amazing at the VersaPay level. Sometimes you have to phone Paymentech for things, and they are less than stellar but ok.

Re: Paymentech (aka VersaPay, aka Orbital)

Thanks for your advice bogueart and s_mack. I appreciate it. In terms of service it usually seems to be best to use a smaller company who knows how to give customer service rather than a large one where you are just a number.

Thanks

Re: Paymentech (aka VersaPay, aka Orbital)

I love the module supplied here for orbital. But, I am being told by the company that zen-cart needs to get certified to be used on their system.

Any one run into this - know what they are looking for? etc.?

HELP?

Re: Paymentech (aka VersaPay, aka Orbital)

Its not zen-cart that needs to get certified... its you. They don't care what software you use, as long as you can make it pass their "certification tests", which this contrib does.

There's quite a bit of work involved in setting up your account with them... this mod just saves you a few dozen hours of programming, but the rest is up to you. You have to call them, and sign up, and fill out their forms, and put this mod (or similar) on your site, and test (internally), then go through their certification steps (they give you a guide) and send them the results and they certify you. Simple? No... but with this contrib its a helluva lot simpler :)

Re: Paymentech (aka VersaPay, aka Orbital)

I'm having some trouble (maybe?) getting the Auth Capture authorization stuff to work out. Several of the card numbers/zip/cvv/price combos are failing authorization (no codes given by your module in the dev. testing mode), but not giving me useful response codes.

For example, the AC Amex test returned

|N|success. AuthCode = TXRefNum = AVSResp = H CVVResp = N

Is this expected? Or do I need to hunt through the XML for more details?

Thanks!

Re: Paymentech (aka VersaPay, aka Orbital)

...Actually i found that I'd munged the code when poking around, trying to extend the class a little bit, so I got the response code from the AmEx, however I'm still getting some Auth decilned errors that aren't really showing up in the dev testing mode.

For those who are trying to get their copy of the module certified, it might be easier, for now at least, to get some of the details straight from the XML.

Re: Paymentech (aka VersaPay, aka Orbital)

Happy hunting. I forgot to mention, but I set it up, and tested, for MasterCard and Visa only. I have no idea what the differences are or what to expect with Amex. And yeah, you could be right that the displayed responses don't give you the data you need for the certification scripts (the test Q&A they provide)... its probably best to get that data from the Virtual Terminal anyway. I designed the contrib to work... not to help troubleshoot configuration.

Re: Paymentech (aka VersaPay, aka Orbital)

We eventually got this module certified, so it's legit. For anyone looking to use this module, there's a line of code that needs to be uncommented so the responses can be spit out to the screen. With that you can fill-out the auth/response tables in the certification document. I can't speak as to whether or not all the CCs work, but it appears they do. That would be a question for your cert. rep to answer.

Not by me. As I said, I don't have that service so I'd have no way to test or develop.

Re: Paymentech (aka VersaPay, aka Orbital)

Hi Steven,

I've installed Paymentech Mod in my Zen Cart 1.3.8a and already have an merchant account with Paymentech.
But it didn't work ! - I got an error message : "An unexpected credit card gateway error occured. Your order was not processed. The details have been sent to the store manager who will contact you to help resolve this problem." :-(:( And received by email something like this :

ProcStatus = -
Customer = Last Name,John

Cart contents = Array
(
[0] => Array
(
[id] => 1
[category] => 0
[name] => Product Name
[model] =>
[image] => image.jpg
[price] => 12.00
[quantity] => 1
[weight] => 3.8
[final_price] => 12.00
[onetime_charges] => 0
[tax_class_id] => 0
[attributes] =>
[attributes_values] =>
[products_priced_by_attribute] => 0
[product_is_free] => 0
[products_discount_type] => 0
[products_discount_type_from] => 0
)

)

Transaction request data =

I filled out all informations correctly (Merchant ID, BIN Number, Terminal ID etc.), asked to Paymentech to add IP addresses of my server in their record, tried with a valid credit card...

I tried everything... ! And now, I'm very desperated. :( Don't it work with version 1.3.8a ?

Please HELP !!!!
Thank you and have a nice day.

Re: Paymentech (aka VersaPay, aka Orbital)

By what you've posted, of course it works with 1.3.8a. You say "didn't work" but in fact it did... whether or not the credit card is approved is entirely independent of the shopping cart and this mod. The fact you got the email shows its working fine on the ZenCart end. Its something either with the communcation between your server and theirs, or its the information you're sending or your account isn't set up right.

You didn't get a ProcStatus message so it seems like the server isn't responding.

Not enough information to really help. It could be anything really. You need to spend more time on the phone with Paymentech.

Re: Paymentech (aka VersaPay, aka Orbital)

Hi Steven,

I saw you have 2 versions of Paymentech mod :

  • paymentech_v2 (the old one for earlier versions)
  • paymentech_1.00 (the latest one I installed)

I would like to be sure I missed nothing : in the latest one, there are no files for the "classes" folder ?

I contacted Paymentech and they confirm everything is correct. (We already have another shopping cart system working with Paymentech account that's gone live since 3 months)
The card number is a valid one.
Added all our server IP addresses in their records.
But into Zen Cart, when I checkout, i got same error message : "An unexpected credit card gateway error occured. Your order was not processed. "

Thank you for your help.

What about using Paymentech issued gift cards. Does anyone have any experience with that?
