Why do yahoo emails cause problems

Wish I could afford a dedicated host but my site is still just a baby site ;) Until/if it starts to brink enough $ in then it can have it's own server :D

I will look at what zen-cart has to offer and think it over.

Re: Why do yahoo emails cause problems

Well, brinkster support says they will try and contact me in about 24 hrs. Keep your fingers crossed for me. Of course I may have to play this game again with them when the next brinkster spammer gets to work :(

Re: Why do yahoo emails cause problems

Well brinkster is still working on getting off the blacklist.... but something strange is going on here.

I was able to set up outlook using my brinkster e-mail account information and from outlook I'm able to mail the same yahoo accounts I can't e-mail from zen-cart.

Any ideas out there on why with outlook these mailings get through while directly through zen-cart they are not?

Look at the differences in the mail header info between these

Re: Why do yahoo emails cause problems

Sending from Outlook, the email comes from YOUR computer.
Sending from your online store, the email comes from your Brinkster server ... which as you said, is blacklisted.

I had it in my head because outlook is set up to use the brinkster mail server that it would be the same. So then does my computer's IP address somehow get involved when outlook is used and then when emailing directly from the zen-cart site it uses the brinkster sever IP address?

Re: Why do yahoo emails cause problems

an update: They say they got removed from the black list here is a transcript of that

: requests to have our mail servers removed from the RBL have been submitted. I am waiting on feedback on the requests.

: 1/22 -- no update from spam list manager. IP's still blocked.

: 1/22 -- confirmed all IP's have been removed from the RBL.

I double checked with dnsstuff and it is no longer listed there.. what else should I be checking?

This as you stated is not a Zen Cart issue but one of possible blacklisting of your hosts mailserver and one that you should be contacting them about

Re: Why do yahoo emails cause problems

From your post #4

Email Error: SMTP Error: The following recipients failed: <email addy>@yahoo.com
I did and they are no longer on a blacklist but I'm still having the same issue.
If you off the black list then this is not the same issue
Does your account have a SPF record
Do you have a dedicated IP?
What is your site url?

I'm not sure about the SPF record... I will contact Brinkster on that.

I don't think I have a dedicated IP, I do know that it's not on a dedicated server. It shares a server with other Brinkster clients.

my url is https://www.horseworldpixels.com

Re: Why do yahoo emails cause problems

I am not fully current on Yahoo rules because this is like chasing your tail as each large outfit is demanding different things that seem to constantly change...

But some items that have been required that you do not have are:

ERROR: One or more of your mailservers does not accept mail to [email protected]. Mailservers are required (RFC822 6.3, RFC1123 5.2.7, and RFC2821 4.5.1) to accept mail to postmaster.

WARNING: One or more of your mailservers does not accept mail to [email protected].

Your domain does not have an SPF record.

You do not appear to have a Dedicated IP and as a result your RDNS resolves to PTR record: secures38.brinkster.com and not PTR record: horseworldpixels.com that some mail services expect and check

and others

Re: Why do yahoo emails cause problems

Bellow is my answer from Brinkster on SPF, and they confirmed that I do not have a dedicated IP.

I do not see custom/additional SPF records for this account.

The postmater and abuse email are easy to fix and I will do that as soon as I post this.

What is an SPF record? I asked Brinkster how I would go about getting one on my site and was told "If you have the record we can add the information to your account." Would that help?

They should know how to create this for you and install - if they do not or will not , "RUN"

Re: Why do yahoo emails cause problems

Just and FYI: I found a wizard that helps to figure out SPF Records...

http://old.openspf.org/wizard.html

I'm puting this here for anyone else that needs to set one up to get e-mail working.

I also want to give a big Thank You to Kobra for all your help.
