Simple SEO URL (OLD version) [support thread]

I just upgraded this mod, which I love by the way. One of the reasons I upgraded was because my new wordpress keeps rewriting and leading back to my main page.
I have everything working fine, included wordpress and blog in the exclude list and still no luck.
I also have included the rewrite, but nothing.

Is there any special rewrite that I can/should be using?

As far as I know about how search engine works. Google has improved its search algorithms a lot and does not recommend you guys rewrite dynamic url to static url. You should read this article (from Google Blog) before you install this mod.

Funny... 2008 in computer years is almost four generations.

I too dabble in the mystical SEO arts, and have most of my client sites up in the top 10 with organic growth. (PITA!)

However, I can say with empirical proof that using this DID get about 200+ MORE pages (for one site) recognized by The Google and others, whereas for six months previously they were not.

After changing the URL's and resubmitting sitemaps, it was less than a day before the included "url's in index" number started jumping. One site has gone from about 30 pages included, to now over 500. AND, the only thing changed was the addition of this mod.

I suppose I could turn it off and resubmit and see what happens... :shocking:

Just as a whim, on one site I put in just one (1) funny keyword term, and added it as an alt-text on one (1) image... before the mod - nothing... no love from any of the Engines. After, you might ask? Goog 'Zombie Emergency Supplies' and see what Zencart is listed in the #1 spot. chuckle

Technology and SEO coding has come a long ways since 2008 (Grammatical sentence checking - whuh!?!) so it might be valid for then, but "I" believe that a readable url impacts visitors and intelligent engines alike.

I managed to get Simple SEO URL working but I wonder how to fix this, I have 2 languages on site, Japanese is the default but when I switch to English the page there's a 404 NOT FOUND err0r. any fix on this please :smile:

We've been running this mod on our site for 2 years now without problems (apart from growing disk usage as the cache keeps filling). As I have nothing to compare it with I couldn't say if it has made much difference to our placements but I don't think its done any harm and it does help to have a human sensible url to read.
However, a lot of sources are now saying that dynamic urls are just as good as any others. If the day comes (for whatever reason) we decide we need to turn it off I'm wondering what would happen. Over the last few years we've built up inbound links to our pages and I'd hate to lose those. That's always been my concern. This mod is a great stable bit of coding but I worry it’s a one way street which one day might turn in to a dead end.
Has anyone written anything which can handle switching back to the standard dynamic url scheme such as via 301 redirects or can anything which would steady my nerves on this?

does the custom aliases work for the other language when you have like 2 languages? i wonder why the alias is only working on the english version of mine but not with the other language like: on english - site.com/shopping/sign-display-c-5
but on a japanese language - site.com/shopping/categories_name-c-5

any help please??

Yes i have everything the same. I discovered that when i enter page via url - http://marion.krakow.pl/index.php?main_page=advanced_search search box is working i just don't know why it is not working on every other pages :(

I'm failing PCI due to cross site scripting error. If i turn SSU off, I do not get the error. Is there a fix for this please? Should I upgrade to the current SSU version and is this a simple process please?

I use zen version 1.3.9h and SSU Beta 3.4.5.

I have two issues related to SEO URLS, hopefully they'll be easy enough to solve.

The first is that when the homepage initially loads, the links are of the form eg.

/cancellation-returns/chapter/0**?zenid=02fa1bbfe51e56f8c0c5ece0a86ea5df**

/bean-bag-wedgies/?zenid=02fa1bbfe51e56f8c0c5ece0a86ea5df

However once you've clicked once on a link then the links behave as expected and the ?zenid=... disappears and you get nice urls i.e. /bean-bag-wedgies etc. (with the exception of some EZpages see below) so it seems that SEO url takes one click to get used to things before it starts working fully?

The second issue is that certain pages, terms and conditions page is a good example, have terms-conditions**/chapter/0** i.e. suddenly the /chapter/0 has appeared at the end of the URL

I have two huge problems with ssu and I hope you will help me, because it's important. Thanks.

1. I have a lot of categories but first problem concerns only two categories. Every few days (but sometimes errors appears after 2-3 days, sometimes after week) one category of them "crashes" and anybody can't enter in. Browser shows error about blocked cookies. What is more when this error occurs, in the "/cache/ssu/categories" appears "playstation-3-c-13**.html**" file although proper file existed all time (playstation-3-c-13). I need clear all cache in the suu admin panel for eliminate this problem, what is annoying (deleting file with .html extension doesn't fix problem).

2. Second error concerns advanced search. When I use search to find any product with long name like "Dead Space 2 - Limited Edition (PS3)", "Crysis 2 - Limited Edition (PC)", "Camera to PS3 Playstation eye", and I will try to use buy button on the advanced search's result page, my browser shows cookies error. "advanced_search_result" is on the Exclude list.

How to fix this serious problems? Thanks for help.

I have zencart 1.3.9h and Simple SEO 3.5.8

Each day I have to reset my cache otherwise the site fails with categories and products not being reached. After the rest it works fine, but I am not sure how long for.

Please advise what I should do to remedy this.
