Postage won't go less than £1 ??

peewhy:

configuration/shipping/maximum

Directly under that, what are your tare settings for:-

  1. Small to medium packages...
  2. Larger packages...

eg:

  1. Small to medium packages: 0:3.0
  2. Larger packages: 10:0*

Re: Postage won't go less than £1 ??

Check the setting on the Configuration ... Shipping/Packaging ...

Enter the Maximum Package Weight you will ship
Carriers have a max weight limit for a single package. This is a common one for all.

Re: Postage won't go less than £1 ??

I have no maximum weight ...so I put in 500000000

What should it be if there is no maximum weight.

All I want to achieve is to send a 100 gram envelope out for 50p postage.

Re: Postage won't go less than £1 ??

You may wish to correct those to be:
0**:**0

vs what you are saying you are using if you want them to be 0 ...

While this should not matter, technically, it should be setup correctly ...

Then make sure that the Maximum is set high enough so the total weight is not split up ...

Re: Postage won't go less than £1 ??

Sorry, what should I correct to 0.0?
The Tare or the maximum?

I can't believe how difficult it can be to get some software to accept 100g weight is 0.50p postage:no:

Re: Postage won't go less than £1 ??

Look at the **formatting...
**
0:0 (zero colon zero)

You set your small/medium setting to 0:0

and your larger packges to 0:0

Next

In the line:-

Enter the maximum package weight you will ship

Give it a value of 30 not 5000000

(note for Linda... I'm trying to get round the issue of tare first. You're right - Peewhy needs to format this correctly eventually, but I'm trying to establish what may be causing his shipping pricing problem. We'll move over to maximum parcel weight later, and then also try to look at his shipping module setup)

Re: Postage won't go less than £1 ??

Sounds like you are mixing apples and oranges ...

Copy ALL settings that you see in the Configuration ... Shipping/Packaging ... so that we can see exactly what you have ...

We are talking about delimiters of colons ( **: **) and you are talking about periods ( . ) ...

We cannot tell for sure what settings you are using in your settings as it sounds like you are using kgs but then we are not sure ...

I don't know what 100g vs 0.50p is suppose to mean ...

Re: Postage won't go less than £1 ??

Okay,

I've set it to kilos instead of pounds.
I want to send a 100g envelope at the cost of 0.50p (GBP)

In Configuration
Max Package weight I have now set to 30
Tare Small to medium is 0.00
Larger is 0.0

......

In Modules>shipping>zone rates
100:0.50,200:2.50,500:3.00

I hope this helps

Please just follow what we are saying...

Above, you say your tare settings are 0.00 and 0.0

Follow the formatting, these must be:

**0:0
and
0:0

ZERO COLON ZERO**

I have a meeting now... can't do any more on this right now

Thank you, this has been done.

It hasn't allowed the 0.50p postage as yet.

Re: Postage won't go less than £1 ??

Now let's try get your arithmetic right.

You say you're working in KILO ...

But you're talking of a "letter" weighing 100 GRAMS

Your zone shipping numbers are:-

100:0.50,200:2.50,500:3.00

Which means:
"For weight up to 100 Kilograms, charge 50p"
"For weight up to 200 Kilograms, charge £2.50"
"For weight up to 500 Kilograms, charge £3"

(500 kilograms is half a ton - find me a shipper who will ship half a ton for £3 !)

You also need to look at the numbers you are giving to each product. Again, are you working in GRAMS, or KILOGRAMS. I don't know because I can't see the numbers you've applied to your products.

You must choose a weight unit and apply it's arithmetic principle throughout your website.

So if you choose KILOGRAM, and you want to express weight in grams (or fractions of a kilogram, then your numeration must be "1 gram = 0.001"

So your 100 gram letter should be 0.1, (not 100 as you have stated in your zone shipping).

I am sure that if you correct your numeration throughout the site, we will make a bit more progress on this issue.

When I said kilos (kgs) as opposed to lbs.

The method I used in the shipping zones worked for other items, for instance a 500 kg item went out correctly at £3 but it wouldn't allow a 100 kg for 50p.

I have now changed them to your suggested 0.1:0.50, 0.2:2.00 etc but now not only will it not define the 50p shipping but it has charged 0p on the rest.

Do we need to go back to my original settings which worked apart from the 50p issue?

Re: Postage won't go less than £1 ??

I'd like to assist you further, but I fear that you are struggling with many of the technicalities of setting up products' weight and shipping formats.

As we are all speculating on where your errors lie, further advice is reliant on us having a thorough understanding of how you have set things up. We do not seem to be getting the kind of info we need to make logical assessments about where to fix the shipping.

My advice is to buy the book (see top right of the screen) and to work through it logically.

This will provide the step-by-step assistance that you (like all new zenners) need.

If you need your webshop to start functioning urgently, then it would be wise to consider finding a consultant to whom a fee will be paid.

Re: Postage won't go less than £1 ??

Why would my be different to anyone else?.

I have an item that weighs 100g

I'd like to set Zen Cart to mark the shipping at 0.50p

It will do it for £1, but not 50p

Surely there is an experienced Zenner that cam put their finger on this issue?

Your help would be appreciated

Yes there probably are lots of people that can fix this but after reading the complete thread I believe that it would require actually getting into the admin and seeing for themselves.

Re: Postage won't go less than £1 ??

The store itself is empty other than three sample products.

one is 500 kg for £3 postage ... it works!

What I can't get it to do is mark up 50p for 100 kg .... it defaults to £1.

It also rounds of an amount, so if I put in an item for £7.99 it makes it £8 at the checkout ...could this be connected?
