I think Peewhy's issue relates to inconsistency in relative arithmetic values between the individual product weights, the zone shipping module settings and the shipping tare settings in CONFIGURATION>>>SHIPPING/PACKAGING.
The first thing Peewhy needs to do is decide what unit to use (arithmetically speaking).
If the decision is to use KILOGRAMS, then the GRAMS settings need to be represented in decimal fractions of a KILOGRAM.
In my test shop, I decided to use GRAMS as my unit of weight, so I changed the defines in english.php and zones.php to " grams". (Note the letter space before the word - grams.
I then set my default currency as GBP, with a value of 1.000000
I "updated" currency values to get others to give current relative values.
I set my default country as "United Kingdom".
Then, I set up my three test products, giving the first one a weight value of " 100 ", the second a value of " 200 " and the third a weight value of " 300 " .
Then I set my tare shipping values as:-
- Maximum package weight I am prepared to ship = 30000 (Thirty thousand grams).
- Package Tare Small to Medium - added percentage:weight = 0:0
- Larger packages - added packaging percentage:weight = 0:0
(This assumes my shipping weight as influenced by the PRODUCT weight is INCLUSIVE of any tare. Peewhy may want to adjust this...)
Then I installed the Zones Shipping module and set it to calculate by WEIGHT.
Tax class " none " (my displayed prices are inclusive of tax in the UK)
Then, for zone 1, I included : GB,US,CA
My rates for zone one are: 100:0.50,200:2.50,300:3.00,500:5.50,600:6.00,30000:10.00
Naturally, Peewhy must decide what values to attribute to weight as this climbs - my settings are purely arbitrary for the higher values.
