Help! Orders are NOT recording

I am having the exact same problem so this must be a problem with either Zen Cart or Paypal. It only happens certain times the customer pays with paypal, but not everytime. I've had it happen twice so far. Any ideas?

Re: Help! Orders are NOT recording

I think my problem may have been that our web hosting company changed the location of our secure server which we forgot to update with Paypal, although a paypal payment did show up in our Zencart orders since that time, so I'm not exactly sure how that happened. I just tried a test order and everything was okay, but the problem happened rarely, so I can't be 100% confident this is solved.

Re: Help! Orders are NOT recording

For the orders that "didn't" show up, did the customer pay without having a PayPal account? If so, then maybe they failed to click "no" on the button PayPal presented asking them whether they wanted to create a PayPal account. If they don't respond to that question, then the IPN notice from PayPal never gets sent ... and thus your store will never hear about the order.
That's a design flaw on PayPal's end.

Re: Help! Orders are NOT recording

I'm having the same problem as well. If I do a test order, it comes through just fine. I have had paypal orders show up in the admin and 3 or 4 that have not. 2 from the same person. It's frustrating

Re: Help! Orders are NOT recording

DrByte, can you or anyone else please help me.

I have read every post I could find, including the wiki page.

I am using PayPal IPN. The orders are coming through PayPal but no order details are available in my cart (I can't even find the details in my database or by using the "view PayPal stuck orders" mod).

I checked the /ipn_main_handler.php page and there was a an error coming across as: > Warning: strstr(): Empty delimiter. in /home/content/site/includes/functions/functions_email.php on line 103

So I went to line 103 and it was for the email spam disclaimer. I went to the languages file and saw that I removed all the text in the quotes for email spam disclaimer, so I put some text in and rechecked the /ipn_main_handler.php and am now getting:

Nothing to process. Please return to home page.

I turned the debugging mode on in the IPN module and here are some of the emails I am getting:

IPN FATAL ERROR :: No POST data available -- Most likely initiated by
browser and not PayPal.
IPN INFO - POST VARS received (sorted):
Array
(
)
IPN PROCESSING INITIATED.
*** Originating IP: 66.211.170.66 notify.paypal.com
IPN FATAL ERROR :: Could not establish fsockopen.
Host Details = http://proxy.shr.secureserver.net:80 (0) Success

http://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr
Trying again without specified protocol ...
IPN FATAL ERROR :: Could not find stored session in DB, cannot re-create
session as PayPal IPN transaction.

Any ideas? I have double checked to make sure everything is set up ok in the module and at paypal. I do not have any SEO add ons, although I did make an adjustment to the .htaccess file for one of the links on the site. But that should have nothing to do with this because it's just a category page.

Re: Help! Orders are NOT recording

BTW, the ipncheck.php comes back as

IPNCHECK.PHP - Version 1.0
IPN TESTING - POSTING to PayPal via: ssl://www.paypal.com:443
IPN TESTING - Confirmation/Validation response: RESPONSE RECEIVED - Communications OKAY
Script finished.

Just as well, I shut off all tax options on the site in both admin and shipping modules.

Re: Help! Orders are NOT recording

After fixing your email disclaimer problem, I would suggest you delete the existing debug logs, and then do another transaction. Then report what appears in the log files.
Note: the debug emails can be hard to follow. Use the files instead.

Re: Help! Orders are NOT recording

I have done what you said. I deleted the previous logs, turned the debugging mode back on, and completed a new transaction. This time, when I was redirected to this page with a long string:

http://website.com/index.php?main_page=checkout_process&referer=paypal&tx=06N77316CT864515B&st=Pending&amt=0.10&cc=USD&cm=zenid%3df42bb0192d1265132bb212bdaa663eb3&item_number=Store%20Receipt&sig=ls69O6M6RoXbq36m6lk8H%2fkcUBzld%2bRDZwYE0VjNIW8Lu3iYCI%2fhzOQVidxrSfiIU5GjQcoWteOv4zKl6F1dYeVl69nSzCdbpnXTd%2bhxQfjC4aO8GiSgF2ruC5IWVo2eI9M%3d I got this message:
2013 Lost connection to MySQL server during query
in:
[select customers_email_format from zen_customers where customers_email_address= '[email protected]']
I think it's because I had the Payment data Transfer option turned on (sometime between trying to figure this problem out) because once I turned it off I was redirected to the correct "/index.php?main_page=checkout_success" page. BTW, is it supposed to take so long to redirect? It really takes more than 10 seconds!

Anyways, back to the point... it still only sends paypal confirmations and no order confirmations.

Re: Help! Orders are NOT recording

Ok, I've been working on this all day. And after more digging I found this thread about IPN not working with GoDaddy as a host.

I shut off the cURL in Admin>My Store>cURL Proxy Status
Now it seems to be working!

Strange though, the emails are coming across as "SEND_EXTRA_NEW_ORDERS_EMAILS_TO_SUBJECT Order Confirmation No: 45" ???

I knew I wasn't crazy, IPN was working just fine, and it seems that this issue was discovered around September 2008.

DrByte, the question is, should I keep cURL off? Or should I follow your fix in this thread?

Two more side questions if I may: should I leave off the Payment Data Transfer? And is it supposed to take so long for the redirect to occur from PayPal to the checkout_success?

Re: Help! Orders are NOT recording

One more very important note that I just found out... When I go to PayPal and accept one of the test payments, it sends me the confirmation email that should have been sent before. What's this all about?

Two more side questions if I may: should I leave off the Payment Data Transfer?I guess if it won't work with your server, maybe leaving it off is best. But if you haven't tested it since overcoming the misuse of the proxy server, you might want to try it again.

And is it supposed to take so long for the redirect to occur from PayPal to the checkout_success?No, it's not. The delay sounds like it's coming from PayPal's end.> pricediscrimination:

Best to use the fix, since you may need the CURL proxy for other services.

Re: Help! Orders are NOT recording

I have a similar problem, but I don't believe it to be an issue with the Paypal IPN.

An order came in on my website, was processed, got transferred to Paypal, payment was received, and the IPN was sent back to my website. The IPN was working correctly except that my website had no order to match the IPN to.

Somewhere in this process, the original order on my website was either not recorded or overwritten by another order. I checked the orders table in my ZC database and there is no record of that particular order. All orders at the time this missing order was placed show that there is no break in the sequential numbering within the Orders table.

So this one customers order just disappeared from Zen Cart. This is the first and only time this has happened or that I am aware of. The customer's registration information and last login/access is recorded in the ZC db, but no order. I know that an order WAS placed thru my website because the Paypal IPN shows all the relevant ID numbers and information. And again, payment was received.

What could have caused this? Could this be a recurring problem?

Re: Help! Orders are NOT recording

Sounds like you might have the same problem I had. You need to do a few things to figure out where the problem is coming from.

  1. Go to https://www.yoursite.com/ipn_main_handler.php and see what it says. If there are an errors listed there, let us know. If it says "Nothing to process. Please return to home page" then that part is ok.

  2. If you are using v1.3.8, go to https://www.yoursite.com/extras/ipncheck.php. It should respond with "IPN TESTING - Confirmation/Validation response: RESPONSE RECEIVED - Communications OKAY".

  3. Go to Admin>>My Store>>cURL Proxy Status turn to False then try to do a test payment using PayPal IPN. If it works, then this was the problem. If you only use IPN, you can get away with using this fix, but if you ever plan to use the other PayPal modules, you'd better use this fix instead.

If none of those option work, you will have to turn on the debugging mode, complete a test transaction, and post the results here for someone like DrByte to analyze. But please, try those options first.

Re: Help! Orders are NOT recording

I thank you for this terrific support site. I finally got my orders to show up... now I just have to find the work around for the ship-to problem.

If the product is virtual - and will not be shipped, how can you get around the problem with paypal that says the payment is unverified?

The Paypal module is looking for a ship to address - but the Zen checkout module won't ask for a ship to if I say that the item is virtual.

Any ideas?
Thanks a million!

Re: Help! Orders are NOT recording

Okey, i figured out what the error was.

I was also running the addon Store Credit and it was error when you went to complete the order, i believe that this error was also impacting on Paypal somehow, even though it didnt show the error at all when the order was completed with Paypal.

Re: Help! Orders are NOT recording

https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=28

"PayPal Website Payments Standard (formerly referred to as "PayPal IPN" in older versions of Zen Cart) takes the customer to PayPal's site AFTER the ENTIRE checkout in order to make payment. The customer can pay without having a PayPal account (depending on what country YOU are in ... PayPal limits that feature for some countries). After the payment is completed, your store is notified of the completed payment, after which time the order is stored in your database. If the customer pays without making a PayPal account and declines the invitation to make one, your store sits in limbo and never gets the order (due to a bug in PayPal's logic, which they've not fixed yet). If they DO have OR make a PayPal account, you get the notification and the order is stored in your database. **IF there is any problem in PayPal's ability to communicate to your server, you will never see the order, because it relies entirely on PayPal's server being able to talk to your server in order to store the order."

If this is indeed the problem, how do we fix it?
