Autoresponder+ for ZC v1.3.x [support thread]

Hey Steven
I read in the beginning of this thread request for sending emails after the customer place the order, I wondering if you ever were able to code this mod to send email to customer after they place the order.
I think this would be a great additional if the store owner was able to follow up with the customer a few weeks after the order.
In my case I want to be able to send the customer an email a week or two after I ship the item to follow up on the order and maybe request a Testimonial or a Review for the product they bought.

A lot of people forget to come back to the store and leave testimonial or reviews for the product so this would be a quick reminder.

Do you have any plans for adding such function?

Re: Autoresponder+ for ZC v1.3.x [support thread]

Hi at the moment I don't have any plans to include product details in the emails. I think it would require a lot of work to do this feature properly, and unfortunately I have other projects to focus on. If anyone wants to add this feature, they're more than welcome to do so.

Re: Autoresponder+ for ZC v1.3.x [support thread]

What version of Zen Cart?
What appears in the log?
Do you have the mod enabled?
Do you have the relevant preset enabled?
Have you got the 'Days After' set correctly?
Does the order's status ID match?
Make sure 'Subscribed' is set to false
Make sure there are no location restrictions or time validation
Are all other emails working correctly (e.g. contact form)?

Okay, was it that you had the presets disabled? If so, that would indicate why a log wasn't created.

The only thing i changed was:
Make sure 'Subscribed' is set to false
OK i changed that to false

I check the log location and one still was not created.

So i am guessing that if subscribed set to true it doesn't work? , or was it because admin email is not a subscriber?

It might be that the path you specified is incorrect, or the directory has not been given write permissions (e.g. 777). Before checking those things, just try refresh your ftp program whilst inside the log directory and the log might show up.

The email address which is checked for subscription is that of the customer. So it's probable that for the order you're working with, that customer is not subscribed to the newsletter.

Is the path:/home/user name/location/ or is it www.your site.com/location

It would be something similar to the first one.

Mine is "/var/www/html/name_of_log_directory"

It's different for each server.

Re: Autoresponder+ for ZC v1.3.x [support thread]

Do you use FileZilla? When I'm in my root directory, it shows the correct location just above the right window, next to "Remote site:".

Re: Autoresponder+ for ZC v1.3.x [support thread]

Great mod ! thank you for it!

I just made a small tweak , figured i'd let everyone know in case others may need it. In my system, I use regular checkout and google checkout. So , order shipped status could have more than one ID (one for regular, one for Google Shipped and one for Google Shipped and partially refunded).
I was able to change the SQL in the autoresponder.php to allow several order status IDs per query. So, in the admin GUI, you can now write "3, 102, 104" for example (instead of just "3").

Here's all you have to do:

  • open autoresponder.php file
  • search and replace all lines
    AND OSH.orders_status_id='". AUTO_ORDER_STATUS_ID ."'
    by
    AND OSH.orders_status_id in (". AUTO_ORDER_STATUS_ID .")

Single order status IDs will still work, but now you can have an option to have many..
Hopefully someone else will find it helpful.

Steven300:

Thanks greenhat, I'll add this to the next version.

cool..

also, just want to clarify the Compatibility section in the READ_ME file for this module:

Compatibility

This contribution is compatible with Zen Cart 1.3.8a
Some 1.3.7 users have had problems, but have found overwriting
the following file from 1.3.8a to help:

includes/functions/functions_email.php

I read this as I was installing it, but while testing on my 1.3.7 Zen Cart, didnt notice any problems. Then, I went live and send emails to about 50 customers, only to realize that the HTML emails did not work and were send like this:

$EMAIL_MESSAGE_HTML
$EMAIL_FOOTER_COPYRIGHT
$EMAIL_DISCLAIMER
$EMAIL_SPAM_DISCLAIMER
$EXTRA_INFO

To fix the problem, i downloaded Zen Cart 1.3.8 , extracted the
includes/functions/functions_email.php file and replaced my 1.3.7 version of this file with it. That solved the problem (unfortunately, after live emails have been send).. I attached the file in case somebody else needs it.

Re: Autoresponder+ for ZC v1.3.x [support thread]

Hi guys, just to let you know I have now added a feature to include product details in the emails. I still have some more testing to do before it's ready, but so far so good. Similar to the main Zen Cart program, the mod will be released as v2.0 to reflect significant changes in the code.

Re: Autoresponder+ for ZC v1.3.x [support thread]

hi steven300,

is there a chance autoresponder+ could generate a unique, 1 time use, coupon code for X% off and include it in the email for use on the customers next purchase?

thanks!

Re: Autoresponder+ for ZC v1.3.x [support thread]

Hi I was just looking at the discount coupon section in admin and was wondering whether it would not be possible to create a coupon where "uses per customer" is 1 and "uses per coupon" is unrestricted? That way, the same coupon could be used lots of times but each customer can only use it once.
