or maybe even "grab" their order number (from the order they just placed), use it as the coupon code for X% off, and include it in the email for a 1 time use on their next purchase??? that way they would get a new, 1 time use code for their next purchase every time they place an order...

Okay but why is it important to have a unique discount coupon for each customer? The only issue I can see with it is that your customers may tell non-customers about it who then use the coupon at your store for their first order, but would that be such a bad thing anyway? I'm just trying to see whether this feature is really needed :wacko:

my thinking was that if a unique, 1 time use code is generated each time, it would encourage customers to return not only to use their discount code, but they would also get a new code for the next purchase...

if a non unique, 1 time use code was used, they wouldn't get a new code to use on their next purchase...

Sorry I need to stop getting such late nights. My suggestion wouldn't have worked in any case as the customer would end up receiving discount coupons that they had already used so were no good. You could create a coupon with unlimited uses, but I can understand how it would look much better if the coupon code is different each time. I should be able to code this at some point :smile:

Hi all, I have a quick question.

Since I have over 3,000 customers and I'm just thinking about installing this mod, do I have to worry about the 2,000 plus customers I don't want to receive a mail?

I read this: "If you define a follow up email for pending 6 days, no one who has been pending for more than 6 days will get the email."

will this mod ignore the many many customers that have ordered prior to 6 days? Just want to be sure before I install:)

Yes, this is correct. The mod will only send out emails to customers who exactly match your settings. So if you set up an automated email to send 30 days after orders, then you execute the mod, only customers who ordered 30 days ago will get the email. If customers ordered 31 days ago, or even 29 days ago, they won't receive any emails.

Ok, I just tried a test email but I didn't receive anything.

Any ideas why this would happen?

Make sure that the:

Mod is enabled
Correct preset is enabled
Mode is in test mode
Query is set to order
Days After equals the number of days after one of your orders was set to the Order Status ID that is configured (3 = delivered)
Subscribed is false
Restrict Location is set to no
Time Validation is set to false

If you entered a different admin email address, make sure it's correct.

Enable logging, try to trigger an email, and check the logs.

Hmmm this still isn't working. I check my log and I see this line:
Start preset #1 (test mode): 2009-04-23 15:31:07 End: 2009-04-23 15:31:07

I checked my email log and there is no record of a sent message.
I've had plenty of orders, I should receive those mails right? I get the "Autoresponder successfully loaded. End of message." when I run autoresponder.php... I'm stumped.

All my settings seem correct, any advice?

You clearly have the mod enabled, preset 1 enabled, and are in test mode. However, the conditions inside preset 1 are not being met. Perhaps the 'Days After' field is not set correctly. If you haven't already, try both increasing and decreasing it by 1. What date are you trying to work with? Remember that it's not the date that the order was created, but the date that the status was set to 3.

If you still have problems, I'll install the latest version again on my site to verify the mod's working.

Aha! It's working. I changed the date down by one and it seems to be working but I do get these errors after running the script:

I do have another question too, I don't suppose there's any functionality to turn the product name into a linkable URL is there?

If not, I'll have to give customers instructions on what exactly they have to do.

I considered this a while ago. The problem is that product urls are not stored in the database, instead they're built on the fly according to the product and category id. I suppose the mod could try and put together the url at run-time. There are two issues that I can see with this. It wouldn't work for those with seo url mods. The other thing is if the product or category id were to change after the order, the url would become invalid.

Actually, when thinking about this, no product details at all would be included in this case. I haven't tested this situation so I'm not sure exactly what would happen, whether it would fail gracefully or not.

I think it could be a good feature to have clickable product urls, providing it's implemented as an optional setting.

Yea I'm use simple URLs so I guess the product links are not possible for me. Too bad:(

I'm not really sure what's causing this. The error messages suggest that there are empty variables being passed e.g. $test="";

It might be that the mod functions correctly despite this.

I am using your system and thanks for it. I was woundering how can i get the test mode to also send html messages and not just text messages when in test mode?

Hi, the best thing to do is to change the autoresponder admin email address to one that can accept html emails.

Thanks for the update but, all of my emails accept html, I can set the system on live and receive html but when the system is in test mode it only sends the text email.

Well, that was weird. I changed the email and it worked. I thought all of my emails would work the same. Due you know how to change that in windows mail for each email account?
