Hello people,
I asked a question by opening a new thread but I haven't got any replies so I guess this is a better place to as kmy question again. I create an xml sitemap from google xml sitemap module but when I check the urls in the sitemap I find out that most of them go to a page that says "Sorry, the items was not found." and none of them actualy goes to a webpage with any products. Is this correct or am I doing somethign wrong?

Someone asked about this same problem I'm having but we never got a reply. Installation went smooth and the sitemap gets generated with no problems. The only problem is the ezpages sitemap. It keeps coming up as an empty file. Here is the message:

I have about 12 ezpages that I created so why are these not getting indexed into the sitemapezpages.xml?

i've just installed this add-on on my local testing site and now got 2 problems:
1st: i can't find a sub-menu 'google xml sitemap' under tools menu, it only appears under configuration tab, why and how to deal?
2dn: my local site is under a directory named 'store', how can i rename the 'your_domain' directory name just under the unzipped downloaded pack for when i input a directory name with '/', Windows would not allow!

Seems to be a problem with this addon? Using it causes warning errors in google webmaster tools. Says lots of the links have 'too many redirects'. Maybe a seo addon problem instead?
But, using an online sitemap generator works fine.
Does anyone have a solution for this? I am getting the same "unsupported file format" error from Google. :frusty:Quote:

Interesting- I added the 'url' attribute to the xml headers and now Google Webmaster is issuing warnings left right and centre (I forgot the important lesson: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"). It would appear that Google and Sitemap.org do not agree:

I've had a site built for me using ZC 1.3.8 and now I have a question re Google Sitemaps. Sadly my developer is off on a long holiday otherwise I'd ask him.
I've registered with Google Webmaster which is crawling the site but says I don't have a Site Map. Looking at my site I can see the the Site Map code so how do I submit it to Google?

I've checked this issue out- It's all over the web. Anyone that's written a sitemap program have come across it. Even Google's Sitemapper uses this attribute (and then causes issues in Google Webmaster). Does any one know how to edit a sitemap xml file? Ive tryed different site map maker,the zencart mod site makers and still keep geting errors and cant get over one url to index out of 150 products

If the products, categories, reviews have not changed since the last generation (time creation corresponding xml-sitemap file), a new xml-sitemap file not created (using existing xml-sitemap).
Priority is calculated on the basis of the positions in the selection from the database, ie the operator ORDER BY in the sql query. First item have priority=1.00, last=0.10. So can no longer be situations where all items in the file have the same priority.
Products - ORDER BY p.products_sort_order ASC, last_date DESC
Categories - ORDER BY c.sort_order ASC, last_date DESC
Reviews - ORDER BY r.reviews_rating ASC, last_date DESC
EZ-pages - ORDER BY p.sidebox_sort_order ASC, last_date DESC

Support 3 $_GET parameters:

It's not a secret, we have a program that looks for sitemap.xml link in our footer to perform certain actions and currently it reports no sitemap exist because it's looking for sitemap.xml instead of sitemapindex.xml.
It's not a big deal. I have reverted by to the original code in test. I was just thinking if it's something easy, it might be the route to go to take care of a minor change.

i've successfully installed Google Sitemap.
i went to Admin--> tools --> Google sitemap XML.
i did STEP 1 and STEP 2.
(FYI - all needed "XML" has been copied to my domain root.)
all was suceesfull.
but when logged in Google Webmaster, there's an error for sitemapcategories.xml file ("Your Sitemap does not contain any URLs. Please validate and resubmit your Sitemap. Help Help"). No problem with other pages.
Any idea to solve this issue?

Well the quick and easiest is the robots.txt route. Otherwise it would mean coding in a "ignore this folder" function and associated GUI. This still would not stop crawlers from accessing that folder it they could find it by alternative sources.Quote:

Hey guys I am trying a new install of this latest ver of the google sitemap generator on my Zen Cart 1.3.8a
I get this:
I tried setting all 4 of those files to 777 permissions also the same :(Quote:

I noted its not a permisson problem?
Cos my errors generated seems different from the ones i searched here :(
cos those says permission denied, mine just says failed :(
Does the savepath have anything to do with it?
I tried readjusting some still no effect :(
