Search function not working

Hi all,

I've just joined a company which runs Zen Cart v1.3.9h on two separate websites.

The first thing I've noticed about both sites is that the search function does not seem to be working at all - I either get a blank page or "There is no product that matches the search criteria". Has anyone else come across this problem?

The previous webmaster had installed several addons but as I'm unfamiliar with Zen Cart I'm not sure which are addons and which are included with the release.

What happens if you turn off the SEO/rewrites ... does it work now?

Thanks... I've just disabled Simple SEO URL, I think that's the only SEO addon installed, but still no search results displaying.

Do you see any debug logs in the /cache directory?

Yes... there's 200-odd of them

I would delete all of the logs that you see right now, then try the search and look in the /cache and see what is generated ...

NOTE: be sure to refresh the directory in your FTP program so you see the most current debug logs ...

What errors are reported?

NOTE: also navigate through your site and see if other debug logs are generated as well ...

Thanks - deleted the logs from both sites (the other one had over 600!)

The search is working on the other site now (clearing the cache has fixed this, perhaps?) but not on need that gift. No debug messages have been generated in /cache.

I'm thinking my next step is to compare the site that does work with the one that doesn't using Beyond Compare. Which files should I be looking for that specifically relate to the search?

The files involved are:

includes/languages/english/advanced_search.php

includes/languages/english/advanced_search_result.php

includes/modules/pages/advanced_search_result/header_php.php

includes/templates/template_default/templates/tpl_advanced_search_result_default.php

Note that these are default paths, and you may also find them in your overrides directories.

aha... seems there was a problem somewhere in includes/modules/pages/advanced_search_result/header_php.php, so I replaced this and the search is now working.
