FCKeditor Plugin 2.5

When I edited the contact_us page using the subject version of the editor, the updated text was placed in \includes\languages\english\html_includes instead of \includes\languages\english\html_includes\MYTEMPLATE, which is where the htmlarea editor places its updates.

Just noting this as it might confuse others as well.

Only updates that file IF there is there is a corresponding file in the location you referenced..

ie: if there is no \includes\languages\english\html_includes\MYTEMPLATE\contact_us page, then the one in the \includes\languages\english\html_includes will be updated instead..

I see someone posted this question last year, but haven't found the answer yet. With FCK Editor 2.6, I can upload an image but the 'browse server' just sends me to a page not found error. Has anyone encountered this and a solution for it?


Is it something to change within the editor files ,the .htaccess file, or is a problem outside of the editor? Old version of the editor didn't have a problem with this, but I'd like to stay up to date on versions if possible.

Go a couple of pages back (around pages 4-6).. Not only was the question posed, but the cause and the answer as well.. HTH..

Thanks for responding my question, I appreciate that. I have gone over every post here prior to posting, actually, and I'm still not seeing a solution. I think #46 is my same situation.

I tried updating the 2.5 version to the current 2.6.3, but am getting forbidden error messages when clicking on the browse button for seeing the files on the server.

I have ensured the files have been updated and the correct location links (myfiles) etc. but cannot find out why I am getting this problem.

I can navigate to the editors/fckeditor/editor/filemanager/browser/default/browser.html file OK with the page loading (albeit with XML source error).

I read this post about the .htaccess file but understood it to apply to users of IE (I'm using Firefox), and I also understood it to apply to those who got the "download browse.html" message. But I commented it out nevertheless and it didn't help.

The new version of the Zen Cart mod, bundles the 2.6.4.1 versions and adds an extra layer of protection. Unfortunately, as you have discovered, it relies on information that IE appears not to provide.

You can get around this by deleting the .htaccess file in editors/fckeditor/editor/filemanager/browser/default, though this may leave you exposed again.

I had this same issue and somehow managed to find a solution though I don't remember exactly what it was... Something to do with the files under "editor/filemanager/connectors". Make sure the config.php file in there is setup correctly and that everything else looks right... I don't have time to look it up and figure it out for you but hopefully that helps a little... Try googling it if you haven't already. Try searching for something like this "page not found in FCKeditor file manager Zen Cart".

Believe me, I am Googling the snot out of it. But thanks, I will look at the config.php file again and see what I can find. I did try reloading all my files in case something got screwed up but it didn't help.

The answer to the "browser.html" popup is NOT in the config.php file.. Kuroi's post is the answer.. (did you try this yet?????) Like I said, the how and why of the "browser.html" popup issue is found on pages 4-6 of this thread..

Wanted to report that the "browse" issue occurred for me in Firefox but not IE (ver 7.0)



Would love to.. **sigh** Unfortunately the charm and attraction of this WYSIWYG editor in particular is that DIYER clients who are not terribly tech savvy like being able to update/add content without needing to know/learn FTP.. (and yeah fortunately or unfortunately, FTP is a difficult concept for some to grasp..) So I explain the risks, try to show them the right way to do this, but most decide to accept the risk and use the file manager feature.. I'm always amazed how convenience always wins out over security for many end users.. **sigh**

(http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showth...t=86818&page=6) This mod is a fairly STRAIGHT FORWARD install.. (Meaning it needs VERY few if any mods/hacks/enhancements to work..) So before you go hacking at other files to solve this problem, PLEASE try Kuroi's suggestion first..

I've updated my FCKeditor to 2.6.4.1 version and the problems with image upload > browse appeared. In firefox everything is ok but in IE8 I get an 404 error. There was no problem with 2.5 version.
Any clue what is the reason and is there any patch for this?

The 2.5 version of FCKeditor (indeed every version prior to 2.6.4.1) was found to have a serious vulnerability. The FCKeditor fix in 2.6.4.1 still leaves the vulnerable page exposed, though hopefully protected - I'd prefer not to comment on that.

Better would be to turn off the upload image feature and use FTP to put transfer them to your site for when you need them.

That (FTP instead) is absolutely the better approach.

Ahhhhhhhhh okay.. I get it now.. Have you tried re-installing this?? I've always had pretty good "plug-n-play" experience with this mod.. The only time I've had issues is when my initial install was done wrong..

ETA.. Actually I am wondering if Kuroi's solution wouldn't resolve your issue as well.. Have you tried deleting the .htaccess file??

Hi,

I have gone through the steps and have uploaded the most recent release of the fckeditor for zencart. the .htaccess file does NOT exist in the fckeditor/browser folder yet I still have that pop-up prompt for browser.html.

Did i miss something? Have read through the entire thread, and everything refers to removing the .htaccess file, which I don't see in the specified directory.
