USPS and UPS shipping module update

Thank you for the quick reply.

I have the latest version of the usps.php file * @version $Id: usps.php 15202 2010-01-09 21:31:35Z ajeh $

I uploaded the file again, removed and reconfigured, now I'm getting these quotes with machinable set to true or false, weird, they don't change and I know they should:
United States Postal Service (Express Mail (1 - 2 days)) $19.35
United States Postal Service (First-Class Mail (2 - 5 days)) $2.07
United States Postal Service (Priority Mail (2 - 3 days)) $5.05
United States Postal Service (Parcel Post (4 - 7 days)) $4.90

Are there any other files I should check aside from the usps.php file? :unsure:

What version of Zen Cart are you using?

Clean install or an Upgrade?

Re: USPS and UPS shipping module update

NOTE: you are missing from your stylesheet the classes:

.hiddenField {
display: none;
}
.visibleField {
display: inline;
}

And you need to fix this image as it is hard coded vs relative so throwing secure issues:
http://www.byvalenti.com/blog/img/vipspecials.jpg

Meanwhile, I am not seeing the source of the problem ..

If you want to PM me on this, when I have time I can look into this in more detail but I need access to your Zen Cart Admin and possibly FTP ...

Re: USPS and UPS shipping module update

why would that image be throwing security issues if that's on the blog? it has nothing to do with zencart.

Thanks I'll PM you.

Re: USPS and UPS shipping module update

NOTE: it is in your right column ... and most likely you have referenced it with the full URL and you need a relative URL so that it works on secure and non-secure pages ... try something like:
/blog/img/vipspecials.jpg

Re: USPS and UPS shipping module update

Yeah I know, I put it there but the thing is, the blog which is a completely separate wordpress installation doesn't have secure pages, is not even part of zencart. You could access them if you know what you are doing calling them by hand, but there is no need for any visitor to access the blog via https nor there are links from the blog that point to any secure page. I mean even from the secure pages of zencart, you are directed to the non secure pages of the blog. The blog is managed by 2 people only, we don't allow account registration to visitors, so I don't think that should matter. In any case I'll make the change to the relative url in the morning. thanks.

Re: USPS and UPS shipping module update

If an image is called in a non-secure method from a secure page it causes security errors, regardless of where it is called from on your site or from another site ...

Re: USPS and UPS shipping module update

that I know, what I meant to say, is that there is no need to call any page of that blog via https, so it shouldn't matter is the url of that particular image is relative or not, but I'll fix it anyways. :smile:

Re: USPS and UPS shipping module update

And what I mean is it does matter because you are calling that image from your shop and when on a secure page the image is not secure so it matters to the secure warnings that there is a non-secure image on a secure page and people will not like to see that as they become afraid of secure warnings ...

Then, they pack up their credit cards and go somewhere else that doesn't have secure warnings ... :smile:

Re: USPS and UPS shipping module update

Sorry about that Linda, you are right! now I see we were talking about two different sidebars. I was talking about the blog and you the store. That's why I keep saying what does that have to do? I didn't place that image on the zencart sidebar, and for some reason I didn't see it until now! I fixed it right away. As soon as my assistant gets here I'll pull his ears :flex:

Going back to the usps issue, is there a possibility that FEC (fast and easy checkout) could be affecting in any way? I'm trying to think what other modules I have that could interfere with the shipping estimator.

Re: USPS and UPS shipping module update

That is a possibility and we have seen an issue where something in the template cause pricing issues ...

A switch to Classic to do a quick test of the pricing might help ...

Re: USPS and UPS shipping module update

In post #36, you showed that you had the current USPS shipping module installed, based on the Handling Per Order or Per Box showing ...

However, looking at your site, I am not seeing that and doing a search on usps.php in the Developers Tool Kit is showing an older version installed:

/includes/modules/shipping/usps.php

Line #8 : * @version $Id: usps.php 8516 2008-05-13 01:56:07Z drbyte $

If you could install the current version for Jan 4, 2010 from:
http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=144992

for the update of:
USPS_UPDATE_2010_0104_B.zip

and has the Version ID of:

  • @version $Id: usps.php 15202 2010-01-09 21:31:35Z ajeh $

and apply the one change listed below it ...

Then follow the steps of:

1 Save your current settings from the current USPS shipping module to something like NotePad

2 REMOVE the current USPS shipping module

3 FTP the NEW USPS shipping module

4 INSTALL the NEW USPS shipping module

5 Reconfigure the NEW USPS shipping module

then see if that fixes the pricing issues ... :smile:

Re: USPS and UPS shipping module update

Holly cow! the file didn't upload yesterday! but filezilla didn't give any error?! I deleted the file from the server and upload it again and it seems to work, but I still get a higher rate than usps.com for first class, $1.90 versus $1.73 on the usps website.
