mmmh, good question, I'm actually placing a 0 on the lbs box and 6 on the oz box
Oba-san

I know I'm annoying, but by asking is how we learn, how come with zencart there is no way to offer flat rate shipping in the US and only for international shipments?

Can you explain what exactly you need or are asking here? I am not getting it ... :unsure:

ok, if I go to the usps.com site to get a quote (6oz package or envelope, from 48042 to 30094) I have a few more options to chose from, Priority Flat Rate Envelopes, Priority Flat Rate Boxes, for example and the Flat Rates all have different quotes compared to plain Priority Mail boxes, which usps asumes you are using your own boxes rather than their flat rates. My question, how come these options can't be offered with the usps shipping module for zencart?
If I get a shipping estimate on my store right now, I only get Parcel, Priority (which is higher than Priority Flat Rate), Express (not Express Flat Rate) and First Class. Just thinking out loud in ways to offer more shipping choices using the same carrier.
Oba-san
This is where you need to customize your USPS shipping module ...
For Priority for example, you will see the code:
//PRIORITY MAIL OPTIONS
if ($key == 'PRIORITY'){
$this->container = ''; // Blank, Flate Rate Envelope, or Flat Rate Box
}
There are actually a few others you can use:
//PRIORITY MAIL OPTIONS
if ($key == 'PRIORITY'){
$this->container = ''; // Blank, Flate Rate Envelope, or Flat Rate Box // Sm Flat Rate Box, Md Flat Rate Box and Lg Flat Rate Box
}
And these will get results such as:
BLANK:
United States Postal Service (1 x 0.38lbs) (Priority Mail (2 - 3 days)) $4.90Flat Rate Box:
United States Postal Service (1 x 0.38lbs) (Priority Mail (2 - 3 days)) $10.70Flat Rate Envelope:
United States Postal Service (1 x 0.38lbs) (Priority Mail (2 - 3 days)) $4.90Sm Flat Rate Box
United States Postal Service (1 x 0.38lbs) (Priority Mail (2 - 3 days)) $4.95Md Flat Rate Box
United States Postal Service (1 x 0.38lbs) (Priority Mail (2 - 3 days)) $10.70Lg Flat Rate Box
United States Postal Service (1 x 0.38lbs) (Priority Mail (2 - 3 days)) $14.50
But you need to customize it for your shop ...

That's it? how about the shipping time and name of the service? if I change that everything will appear as Priority Mail. :huh:
Oba-san
The Various methods allow for 1 method to be used ... if you want more details on the types you'd have to customize more ...
I have not played with the settings recently but for the most part it is the size not the method ...

A small minor change to the code is helpful here to document the options.
line 394 says
//For Options list, go to page 6 of document: http://www.usps.com/webtools/_pdf/Rate-Calculators-v1-2.pdf
and it should now be

Apparently, there are and have been issues with the usps's production server. They are aware of the issue, they have no estimate of when it will be fixed. This problem has been in effect for the past two days; you'd almost forget that the USPS is privatized.

Is anyone else having this trouble, or is it just me? I'm losing sales because of it and need to know before I express my growing displeasure with USPS.
Totally Zenned
Linda - I too am getting the following error when this international order is being placed:
-2147218052 - The ounces field must be less than 5 digits
On the shopping cart page near the top, it says, "Total Items: 30 Weight: 5.738lbs Amount: $211.37"
Could their be a problem with the weight showing three digits after the period?
I have the latest and greatest USPS.php update and the latest zencart.
Totally Zenned
I think it definitely has something to do with the weight. A few of the items in the shopping cart had a weight of more than two digits, like "0.063" instead of just "0.06".
When I went through each item in the shopping cart and made sure that the weight was no more than two decimal places long, it seemed to work.
Is there something in the code or ZC configuration panel that will allow for three digit decimal places in the weight so that it won't interfere with the USPS module?
Oba-san
Search for this code:
$shipping_ounces = (16 * ($usps_shipping_weight - floor($usps_shipping_weight)));
// usps currently cannot handle more than 5 digits on international
$shipping_ounces = zen_round($shipping_ounces, 3);
And change the 3 to a 2 ...
For unknown reasons, "sometimes" USPS is saying 5 digits is:
1.2345
12.345
and other times:
1.234
12.34
It is not being very consistent in how it counts ... :rolleyes:
New Zenner
Hello,
I upgraded to the latest USPS update by following the instructions. But when I go to the shipping modules tab, under "Sort Order" the indicator is yellow (it's been yellow for 2 weeks now). I believe it was green before I upgraded. I contacted USPS, they stated it's a zen cart issue, they are showing i'm in production status and to contact Zen Cart.
When I go on the live website and try to check out it does not work.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Oba-san
IF you have set a shipping zone on this module then you will also see the yellow icon to indicate that it has been filtered to only be used for some shipping addresses ...
Oba-san
One other check that you can do is in the Tools ... Developers Tool Kit ... in the bottom input box enter:
usps.php
and select Catalog then search ...
What is the version id line that you are showing?
Did you also do:
1 Save current settings
2 REMOVE USPS
3 INSTALL USPS
4 Reconfigure USPS
to make sure that all of the current settings are being used?
What settings are you using in the USPS shipping module?
What settings are you using in the Shipping/Packaging configuration?
What is your Ship From? What is your Ship To? What is the weight you are testing?
