USPS and UPS shipping module update

I downloaded the new USPS module from the link provided. I installed it as suggested and when I refresh the shipping modules I lose the edit feature for all of them. I reinstalled the old usps.php file and they came back. Am I doing something wrong or is there a problem with the file. I have downloaded it twice and the results are the same.

Re: USPS and UPS shipping module update

Be sure that you are doing the remove on the server from:
/includes/modules/shipping

of the file:
usps.php

and that you load the new module, via FTP to:
/includes/modules/shipping

If the whole module died, it sounds like a bad FTP to the server ...

What version of Zen Cart are you using?

Ajeh:

IF you have set a shipping zone on this module then you will also see the yellow icon to indicate that it has been filtered to only be used for some shipping addresses ...

Thank you so much for your help. I did have a shipping zone selected! Works perfectly now! Thanks again and sorry it took so long for me to respond. :bigups:

Re: USPS and UPS shipping module update

version 1.3.8a Ajeh....Now I've really done it! Was just sooo close to getting things where I could proceed with a working store. I saw the posts here to process the Jan4,2010 USPS.
Here's what I did:

"To ensure that you have the correct code, be sure to go to the Modules ... Shipping ...
1 Save your current settings to NotePad
2 REMOVE the current module
3 Load the new usps.php file to the server with your FTP software"

Here's where I have lost everything? I now can't find the USPS module to install??
4 INSTALL the new module

therefore I can't do this either.
5 Reconfigure the module for your settings
Attached Files USPS_UPDATE_2010_0104_B.zip (10.0 KB, 482 views)

What have I done ? Hopefully haven't messed this up completely

Re: USPS and UPS shipping module update

Under shipping in the admin, click on the USPS and it should have an install button on the right side of the page.

Re: USPS and UPS shipping module update

Make sure that you have 1 file for:
/includes/modules/shipping/usps.php

and that you did not rename the old one to something else or load a backup copy to the directory as this is a self loading directory ...

Copy the new USPS January 4, 2010 file into the directory:
/includes/modules/shipping/

You may have put the file in the wrong directory or tried to rename the old one and it is trying to load ...

These situations will cause the symptoms that you are describing ...

Re: USPS and UPS shipping module update

Oh my goodness that was scary! Yes, historically I have renamed old files in case I break something and have to put them back. As soon as I removed the old-renamed file, the new usps.php worked. Immediate green light!

Is this something that shouldn't be done in zen?
Thanks so much, you've saved the day!

Re: USPS and UPS shipping module update

Some of the directories are auto loading ... and if you just name usps.php to uspsold.php it will try to load it ...

Usually, you can use usps.php_OLD so it is not a php file ... but to be safe, it is best to keep the old copy on your computer rather than the server for these directories ...

Re: USPS and UPS shipping module update

Linda,

Am I understanding this correctly?

For the USPS modification posted on January 12.

Remove line:

'Global Express Envelopes' => 'USPS GXG Envelopes',

and add line

$db->Execute("insert into " . TABLE_CONFIGURATION . " (configuration_title, configuration_key, configuration_value, configuration_description, configuration_group_id, sort_order, set_function, date_added) values ('International Shipping Methods', 'MODULE_SHIPPING_USPS_TYPES_INTL', 'Global Express, Global Express Non-Doc Rect, Global Express Non-Doc Non-Rect, Global Express Envelopes, Express Mail Int, Express Mail Int Flat Rate Env, Priority Mail International, Priority Mail Int Flat Rate Env, Priority Mail Int Flat Rate Small Box, Priority Mail Int Flat Rate Med Box, Priority Mail Int Flat Rate Lrg Box, First Class Mail Int Lrg Env, First Class Mail Int Package, First Class Mail Int Letter', 'Select the international services to be offered:', '6', '15', 'zen_cfg_select_multioption(array('Global Express', 'Global Express Non-Doc Rect', 'Global Express Non-Doc Non-Rect', 'Global Express Envelopes', 'Express Mail Int', 'Express Mail Int Flat Rate Env', 'Priority Mail International', 'Priority Mail Int Flat Rate Env', 'Priority Mail Int Flat Rate Small Box', 'Priority Mail Int Flat Rate Med Box', 'Priority Mail Int Flat Rate Lrg Box', 'First Class Mail Int Lrg Env', 'First Class Mail Int Package', 'First Class Mail Int Letter'), ', now())");

That is the way I am reading it, is this correct?

Thanks, Mike

Re: USPS and UPS shipping module update

Post #4 says to ADD the line on Global Express Envelopes and to replace the SQL line ...

You may want to re-read that again ...

Re: USPS and UPS shipping module update

Linda,

This line "'Global Express Envelopes' => 'USPS GXG Envelopes'," already exists in the usps.php file, line 118.

Re: USPS and UPS shipping module update

OK, understood.

But the entry "'Global Express Envelopes' => 'USPS GXG Envelopes'," was included in both of the updated usps.php files in USPS_UPDATE_2010_0104.zip and USPS_UPDATE_2010_0104_B.zip. It does not need to be added as your instructions state. If someone does not need the Global Express Envelopes and does not add the updated sql statement, will that still work?

Re: USPS and UPS shipping module update

I am currently using USPS, but want to integrate the UPS shipping module to my website. I was told by my web developer that it doesn't support decimal weights, only whole numbers, and that it wouldn't work for me. She said that I would have to put 1lb for each product, but then the shipping estimate would be way to high, that definitely would not work for me.

Re: USPS and UPS shipping module update

Works for us.
It may charge in pounds, but it does accept decimal weights.

Re: USPS and UPS shipping module update

In Zen Cart, both UPS and USPS work with the decimal weight in pounds ...

1 ounce = 0.0625 pounds

Linda,

Feedback would be appreciated.

My point is that your instructions need some revising as the array entry does not need to be added. It already exists. That being the case, will it still work without modifying the $db->execute line.

Thanks, Mike
