Preston Elite Template Support Thread

Hi Anne,
First, Thanks for this amazing Template! It's really great.
I'm building a webbsite which need a french language pack. It work well except for few exceptions that I just can't figure how to make them follow the language. Here are the exception:

• On the top, I can't have the word "Currencies:" to display in french.
• The Search button and all the buttons in the centerbox for the product details.

Can you help?

Whenever you install a new language you need to copy all of the english language files from the template over to your new language and then translate them.

Hello there!
I absolutely love this template. I need to upgrade to 1.5 from 1.39 and I wanted to go ahead and change my custom template I'm using now to this one, but I want it in a different color scheme. Will I be able to adjust that once I download? Here is my current site:

You can see here my colors I use now. I would like to stay in the same color scheme, maybe tan, brown etc. if I can't do black. Was just wondering :) I haven't used a complete template before and wasn't sure if it worked like adjusting the basic one. (sorry to sound so dumb, but I'm a crafter and not very savvy with computer knowledge, but I try :)
I would love to use this if I could adjust the colors from the turquoise to a natural tan or black etc. I like the color it is now, but it wouldn't work with my site.
I guess the background is the main thing I was wondering about color change, I assume the category headers, fonts, etc. are changed like I did them on my current site. If so, maybe I could just change the background?
Like I said, sorry to sound like such a idiot, but I just want to make sure the things I wanted to adjust would be ok.

If you have the skills, you can literally make any of the free template packages look any way that you want ;-) You will need to know some css so I would recommend doing a google search for a good css tutorial and you might need to do some image editing depending on the template.

You can literally do anything that you want with the free templates ;-) I have released these under the GPL. If you are interested, there is a copy of the license in the template package, or you can find it online. I am happy that you will be using it for your site.

Ok, so I am stumped on one thing. On my main page the module that shows new, featured and special products, there is a text there that I can not find anywhere to change! Right now is says "new products for december" it's the font color etc. I can't locate in the css sheet.....I think I got everything else, but this one has me :P

Use the developers toolkit to find which lines of which files you need to edit. There is a tutorial up in the FAQ's section of this site if you need more instructions. Admin--tools--developers toolkit.

If you want to edit the styles of the title, try includes/templates/preston_elite/css/index_home.css

I absolutely second this ;) Chrome also has some decent web developer extensions you can install.

Well....here is what I have so far, still have a bit of work to do:

I do have one question though that puzzles me.....My columns keep changing their width from page to page, they are not set like in the live demo you have. I don't know what I have set wrong, I went through my layout settings, and made sure they matched your recommendations, but I am missing what it is. You can see it majorly on this page here:

Each page seems to have different sidebox sizes. Can you point me to where I might have this set wrong? As I said the layout is set as you recommended, so I have crickets right now......I was lucky to switch it all over without loosing anything :)

I think that there is no problem with the sideboxes. Some like product notifications only show on the product info pages.

Did you turn them on in admin--tools--layout boxes controller? See the readme.html file for detailed instructions on turning these boxes on.
