Free Template "Future Zen"

Out of general interest, is this information of any use to anyone involved with the "future-zen" template? http://sccambria.com/css_validation_report.htm

If it isn't, or has already been used then please ignore this post.

Regards,

G.

Hmmm. I'm beginning to wonder if you're taking the mickey. An apology to Big Gee. As a result of some off-line exchanges I know a little more about him and although I still don't understand the how the change to his CSS came about, he seems like a stand-up guy to me and not one of the mickey-takers.

Regards,

G.The errors in thsi CSS validation have, I'm afraid, been introduced by you. The CSS to which it refers are not part of Zen Cart or the future Zen template.

The warnings are about colors and background-colors and are not specific to the future Zen template, but more general comments about the default Zen Cart stylesheet. However, they are also the sort of thing that users would naturally change anyway as they develop their designs and so, IMO, it would be an unnecessary bloating of the stylesheet to add extra styling to eliminate them.

Nevertheless, stylesheet validation is a good thing. It should be done more often. Thank you for sharing.

That's O.K. Kuroi - no malice meant, no offence taken, no apology needed. You're STILL on my "Buddy List" - keep this up and you'll soon get on my Christmas Card list!

The boxes problem seems to be of my own making - it makes sense - I presume the problem is not apparent in IE however as a Firefox user I saw it straight away and didn't bother cross checking in IE (of course it needs to look right in all Browsers). I can't remember making the change you pointed out, mind you I've experimented so much that I lose track of what I've done! That was my feeble attempt at making the store page look a bit like the website it's attached to.

I'll plug away - as time permits. First thing is to catch up on some reading to pad out my general knowledge of the software, and to familiarise myself with it. :smartass:

All the best,

G.

Good luck with your reading. You're welcome back here, or on a new thread with any questions arising.

Wtashby- I checked out http://www.ashbysontheweb.com/ but that website is utilizing a table based custom (aow) template.

Woody

Hi Woody,

That is the wrong site. The one I'm working on is on my local server. Anyway, after goofing around with the css file, changing margins and padding, I finally got everything centered, or, at least close enought that it is hard to tell.

Thanks for checking and responding!

By the way, what is wrong with my sig?The link to your site in your sig was broken yesterday. I think that this may have been a general problem with sigs carried over from the old system. However, it works fine today. I'm seeing a few other changes to the forum going on at the moment (e.g. PM defaulting to on not off) suggesting that the administrators are tweaking it a bit and I suspect that you've unwittingly benefited from their work.

"I have d/loaded future_zen and uploaded to server, but cannot see the template in zencart admin?"Impossible to say without knowing more about how you installed it, but most likely is that you unpacked the zip in such a way as to create a file stucture > future_zen_v1_1/future_zen/<the template> and then copied all of this into your templates directory creating the following structure on your server > includes/templates/future_zen_v1_1/future_zen/<the template> The correct structure is > includes/templates/future_zen/<the template>

Re: Free Template "Future Zen"

hope you can help me again?

I have been through FAQ, applied template over-ride settings and even managed to get a flash object in place thanks to previous posts on this forum

Now, all I want to do is to make the colours of the sideboxes (background, catagory header) the same as the rest of my site

http://www.greatbaits.co.uk/onlineshopfiles/index.php?main_page= - if this helps

Put simple, I want to make the light blue sidebox colours the same as my flash object

thanks in advance

Re: Free Template "Future Zen"

Woodymon:

Question in regards to the fixed size graphics...

Is it possible to provide the source vector files used to create the following sidebox and column and header images?

sidebox_top.gif
sidebox_middle.gif
sidebox_bottom.gif
title_bg.gif
centercolumn_capsule.gif
fullwidth_capsule.gif
header_bg.jpg

This would allow end-users to change the horizontal sizes, and fill, border and background colors, border thickness, etc (and also adjust colors outside of rounded corners to match background) without having to create the graphics from scratch. As suggested by Woody, here are the original source files for the images used in the Future Zen template >>Attachment #123<< well most of them anyway (please remember that this whole template was built in just two hours!) My personal advice would be for users to create their own graphics from scratch rather than trying to edit these files, but if they provide information about sizes and show how it was done (even if it was a rush job) then that will hopefully be of help to some.

Re: Free Template "Future Zen"

excellent template, thanks kuroi!

also, out of curiosity, how would I go about disabling the categories that appear at the top of the page lined up horizontally under the header?

Re: Free Template "Future Zen"

The same way you do on all templates. Admin> Configuration> Layout Settings> Category Tabs, disable.

Please do not PM for support issues: a private solution doesn't benefit the community.

Be careful with unsolicited advice via email or PM - Make sure the person you are talking to is a reliable source.

Kuroi-

Thanks for providing the source images for your template. I think they will be of positive assistance in helping newbies identify the graphic components of a basic template and guide themselves through the template building/re-design process. Then with the knowledge gained, hopefully they will be able to create something using their own imagination.

Re: Free Template "Future Zen"

thanks for your help so far, now I suspect this will be a really easy question to answer, but I just cannot find a simple solution

I can happily remove the TITLE HEADINGS in any sidebox, but I want to remove the bit that says 'Home' in the middlebox of my site (the bit above the welcome comment!)

http://www.greatbaits.co.uk/onlineshopfiles/index.php

thanks again!
