Improved Attributes Controller (now built-in to v1.3.9)

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected $end in /home/doodlebu/www/www/store/admin/attributes_controller.php on line **2002

**I am getting this error after I install and go to the Attributes Controller. It works on my www.giftsofcharacter.com site but not on www.doodlebuckets.com I have the same version, 1.3.8a and the same template on each, so I don't understand why it would work on one but not the other. What then shall I do? I really like this mod!

Re: Improved Attributes Controller (now built-in to v1.3.9)

try re-uploading the file. Maybe there was a glitch during upload and caused an error in the file.

The good thing about this is that you just replace the one file and it works, not DB changes or any other files to change. So, if there is something wrong, then there had to have been something happen to the file itself, and the only thing I can think of is perhaps an error while uploading it.

I've done it twice. Not an upload problem. I don't understand it working on one site but not the other. I did try adding some admin mods yesterday but took them all off when they didn't work either. What could be on line 2002 that is the problem? What else could be interfering with it?

Re: Improved Attributes Controller (now built-in to v1.3.9)

Find the following section of the file:

<!-- bof Down loads ON -->
<tr class="attributeBoxContent">
  <td class="pageHeading">
    <table border='0' width="100%">
      <tr><td class="attributeBoxContent"><table border="0" cellpadding="4" cellspacing="2">

        <tr><td class="attributeBoxContent"><table border="0" cellpadding="4" cellspacing="2">
          <tr class="attributeBoxContent">
            <td class="attributeBoxContent" valign="top"><?php echo TABLE_HEADING_DOWNLOAD; ?> </td>
            <td class="attributeBoxContent"><?php echo TABLE_TEXT_FILENAME . '<br />' . zen_draw_input_field('products_attributes_filename', $products_attributes_filename, zen_set_field_length(TABLE_PRODUCTS_ATTRIBUTES_DOWNLOAD, 'products_attributes_filename', 35)); ?> </td>
            <td class="attributeBoxContent"><?php echo TABLE_TEXT_MAX_DAYS . '<br />' . zen_draw_input_field('products_attributes_maxdays', $products_attributes_maxdays, 'size="5"'); ?> </td>
            <td class="attributeBoxContent"><?php echo TABLE_TEXT_MAX_COUNT . '<br />' . zen_draw_input_field('products_attributes_maxcount', $products_attributes_maxcount, 'size="5"'); ?> </td>
          </tr>
        </table></td></tr>

      </table></td></tr>
    </table>
  </td>
</tr>
<!-- eof Downloads ON -->

And compare it to what I posted above. They should be identical.

<td class="attributeBoxContent" valign="top"><?php echo TABLE_HEADING_DOWNLOAD; ?> </td>

is the line that I am showing as being at 2002. "Unexpected End" usually occurs when there is a semi-colon or closing bracket missing or something along those lines.

All I can suggest is doing an eyeballs on comparison of the section of the file where it reports the error happening and the same section on the copy of the file that works (download them both from the servers -- and then compare the two -- don't just look at your source file).

There has to be some sort of difference somewhere.

Also, since this section of code is using some of the constants that are setup in one of the language files, you might want to find where they are being set up and making sure that they are not missing their closing semi-colons and such as well. You can find them in admin/languages/english/attributes_controller.php

It is possible that perhaps the error is coming from that file maybe.

The code is identical and I'm not seeing anything missing. I will check out my other files that are referenced in the AC and see if there are any issues there. Thanks! Amy

Re: Improved Attributes Controller (now built-in to v1.3.9)

It's crazy! I copied my admin folder from one store to the other and that didn't work and broke my store. So I restored the admin folder and re-uploaded the AC file again and it works now for no rhyme or reason. Just thankful, I guess I don't really need to understand...

Re: Improved Attributes Controller (now built-in to v1.3.9)

copying your entire admin folder would have broke the site cause you would have copied over the configure file for the admin stuff.

but if copying the original folder back fixed it, then that would tend to say that yes, there was a problem in the upload somehow... -- at least that is what I would think

Re: Improved Attributes Controller (now built-in to v1.3.9)

I am having a similar problem with the unexpected end. It works on my test server, but not on my production server. I've pinned it down in that my production server is using the dual price mod for wholesale prices, and my test server does not have this installed. I did have to make some minor changes to get attributes to work with the dual price mod, but I do not know what to do to the modified attributes_controller.php..
anyone help?
See this thread for info on what i had to do to get attributes to work:
http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=35219

Posts #9 and #24 fixed the problem at that time. I'm sure we can just add the proper items to the modified attributes_controller.php to get it to work, but I'm not good enough with PHP to find it.

Hello,

Where is the attribute_controller.php file meant to be uploaded to?

Kind regards,

Re: Improved Attributes Controller (now built-in to v1.3.9)

ahhh!

i uploaded this file , and then when i go to the attributes controller i get this

"Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class base in /home/idyemyhair/html/includes/classes/class.base.php on line 17"

i have no idea why!

everything was working fine before i uploaded the attributes_controller.php to the admin.

what's worse is that after getting that error, i re-uploaded the ORIGINAL file, and i'm still getting that error.

any idea what happened?!?!!
ahhhhh :(

Re: Improved Attributes Controller (now built-in to v1.3.9)

I am also having an issue with the attributes controller - it had worked for many months, but now it seems that it is not displaying any of the Option Name/Values in the controller and I have no idea what happened!

The option name/values are still contained in the database, so I'm assuming there must be a conflict with the query? Anyone find a solution to this?

Re: Improved Attributes Controller (now built-in to v1.3.9)

I have the option name "color" and over 300 colors as option values. How do I get the values sorted alphabetically? They are all mixed up and it is a pain to find the one(s) I need. I installed the mod when I set this cart up so I don't know if it is the mod or not but the sort order should be by name. It looks like it sorts by sort order and then if they have the same sort order it gets crazy.

Re: Improved Attributes Controller (now built-in to v1.3.9)

Your problem with sort order has nothing to do with the Improved Attributes Controller.

It is really important when you have tons of attributes to list a sort order. This allows you to have it the way you want it listed in the attributes controller.

Whether you have a sort order listed or not, you can try this trick.

When you have tons of attributes in either name or value box...

Click on a name or a value, then with your keyboard, press first letter of word in list.

Example: If color is red, press r, the box will auto scroll to the r's, making it easy for you to find the red in the list.

For sort orders to look good on product pages, be sure you add a sort order when adding your attributes, and try to add attributes in the order you want them in the first place.

Additionally, you can add or update sort orders en masse via the Option Values Sorter under the Admin->Categories menu.

Good Day All

To have your attributes sort alphabetically see this post I know it works as I am using it now on the latest ZenCart 1.3.8a
Hint: the file to make the change in is: attributes_controller.php in the Improved Attributes Controller download.

Good Day All

If your having a problem with not displaying any of the Option Name/Values in Improved Attributes Controller, check your Option Name and remove any dbl quotes " in the Option Name, as this just happened to me.

Re: Improved Attributes Controller (now built-in to v1.3.9)

I just moved an existing site to a new server. New server is PHP5/MySql5. Zen version is 1.3.8a - We have to use the controller constantly to update available sizes from the mfgs and distributors. Often times we have to add multiples of sizes at one time - your improved controller is just a must for us. The problem is that after moving the site the control key function no longer works. We have to select items one at a time to add. This is horrible when adding new items especially as there may be as many as 15 to 20 attributes to add.

Can someone advise what I can change in the coding to make the controller compatible with PHP5?

Thanks in advance!!
