Improved Attributes Controller (now built-in to v1.3.9)

I've determined that this issue is not related to your contribution - but the attribute controller itself..so I'm off to search for a solution. If anyone is aware of how this could be solved I would be thrilled to know.

Thanks for this great contribution... I just hope I can figure out why PHP is breaking my control key function.

Thanks

Ruth

Dave G --

You're a lifesaver man - great call! For two months now I've asked my client to go back to using the original attributes controller as I could not identify what was causing the script to fail. I assumed it was an issue with the script itself, but it was just a matter of double-quotes being used inside Option Names. Props to you sir for pointing me in the right direction - thanks again!

kuroi:

No. That's it. It simply replaces your existing attributes_controller.php file with an improved version.

i looked in my directory and there are 4 different attributes_controller.php files listed in 4 different locations. which one do i overwrite? or do i overwrite all 4?

Taken from the original, older, file info:
Dave G

Contribution: Improved Attributes Controller
Version: 1.0
Designed for: Zen Cart v1.3 +
Designed by: Neville Kerr (forum ID: bunyip)

Support: Only given via the forums, please.

========================================================

WHAT DOES THIS MODULE DO?

This module changes the way the dropdown select fields work on the Attributes Controller Page. The content of the second dropdown (option values) is now dependant upon the content of the first dropdown (option names), so you will only see values that apply to the selected option name. Javascript is used to avoid having the page reload when you make that selection in the first box.

Here's the major time saver: the second box (option values) allows multiple selections! So you can add a whole bunch of option values with a single page load!

One proviso on that though: all the other selections on the page (attribute price, weight, default, etc) are used for each option value that you have selected. So for example if you have entered a price of +2.00, it's used for every option value that you had selected in that second drop-down box.

========================================================

INSTALLATION

Zen Cart versions 1.2.7 or later: all you need to do is upload the included attributes_controller.php file to your admin folder. There are no other changes to make.

Zen Cart versions 1.2.6 or earlier: upload the included attributes_controller.php file to your admin folder, and then copy the function below to the end of your admin/functions/html_output.php file (paste it into the line immediately before the last ?> ).

function zen_hide_session_id() {
global $session_started;

if ( ($session_started == true) && defined('SID') && zen_not_null(SID) ) {
  return zen_draw_hidden_field(zen_session_name(), zen_session_id());
}

}

========================================================

TO UNINSTALL

Simply grab a fresh copy of admin/attributes_controller.php from your Zen Cart installation zip file and upload it to your server

========================================================

History:

2006-05-25 - v1.0 Initial Release

========================================================

File Modifications:

This module overwrites an existing file that doesn't have an over-ride capability: make backup copies just in case, and keep it in mind for when you are next upgrading your Zen Cart...

Kelvyn, such a 'move multiple products' ability wouldn't be particularly difficult to code: I might even take a crack at it sometime in the not-so-distant future.:smartass:

Did anyone ever give this a shot???

That would truly be great :D

Re: Improved Attributes Controller (now built-in to v1.3.9)

romy:

installed mod and just get - Option Name- - Option Value-
my options are not showing up ..why is this

DiZZ:

I am also having an issue with the attributes controller - it had worked for many months, but now it seems that it is not displaying any of the Option Name/Values in the controller and I have no idea what happened!

The option name/values are still contained in the database, so I'm assuming there must be a conflict with the query? Anyone find a solution to this?

I suddenly developed this problem! I had several attributes working on my test product. I then added the Option Name: "Width" and filled in a lot of Option Values: 1/8", 1/4", 1/2" etc. about 15 of them. Then when I went to the Attributes Controller, there was only "Option Name" and "Option Value" in the "Option Name" and "Option Value" fields and not my own names and values.

If anyone knows how to fix this I would be very grateful!! I really need to finish this up.

Help!

Thanks,
Rebekah

Dave G:

Good Day All

If your having a problem with not displaying any of the Option Name/Values in Improved Attributes Controller, check your Option Name and remove any dbl quotes " in the Option Name, as this just happened to me.

Dave G

THANK YOU!! That was it! I had (Click "Add to Cart" to upload.) as an option name. I changed the double quotes to ' (single) and that fixed it right up!

Thank you again!

I am going to assume you have installed the IAC and have added attributes to an item.

If your IAC is not showing you attributes try looking in your "Option Name Manager" and "Option Values Manager" your option names and option values can not contain quotes (") ie 34" would need to be 34in or "Audio wma" would need to be 'Audio wma'.

I'm not sure how else to explain.

ThanksThe version in the downloads section IS the current version.. It works without additional effort other than replacing the default options controller with this one.. If IAC isn't working for you then it's likely that there's another another cause which is creating the problem..

Did you take the advice previously posted and make sure that your Option Names or Option Values DO NOT contain double quotation marks? (")

Re: Improved Attributes Controller (now built-in to v1.3.9)

While this mod is cool as heck, and saves lots of time, I discovered that any of my option names in which the "Option Type" is text do not appear at all in my attributes controller.. Only those attributes where the "Option Type" is dropdown, radio or checkbox appear. Any ideas how to correct this??

Re: Improved Attributes Controller (now built-in to v1.3.9)

Browse your products_options_values table and make sure you have a setting for:

products_options_values_id language_id products_options_values_name products_options_values_sort_order
0 1 TEXT 0

If not, you need to add it with:

INSERT INTO products_options_values (products_options_values_id, language_id, products_options_values_name) VALUES (0, 1, 'TEXT');

Do you have Image Handler or other add-ons?
