Improved Attributes Controller (now built-in to v1.3.9)

You're welcome.. It's always the little things.. I had a similar issue recently.. Additional images wouldn't display on certain product pages.. After DAYS of troubleshooting Image Handler2, I discovered that my clients product names hosed Image Handler2. (she had a single quote in the product name)

Honestly this contribution doesn't alter the way attributes work, just the interface you use to add them to products.

Good luck.. Troubleshooting is ALWAYS a barrel of fun.. (If you're partial to pulling out your hair and random screaming!!!)

If you can you might try creating a duplicate version of the site to mess around with to run down the problem.. It may sound like a PITA, but it will allow you to "experiment" a little without breaking anything on your live site..

thanks divavocals.

well, I am searching like mad, believe me!

The attributes are the same as the ones that are used on other products that work fine. And actually the attributes themselves are the only things that haven't been altered since day one.

Re: Improved Attributes Controller (now built-in to v1.3.9)

The attributes controller shouldn't have any affect at all on what happens in the catalog. While looking at your site, I noticed something intriguing that might be a clue to whatever is going wrong:
From your product listing page, if you hover over the link for the first product (Aventure Verticale) - that you can't seem to add to the cart, you see the link in the status bar is:

http://www.starlessriver.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1&products_id=84

then when you click on that link, you end up with the product page, but this url in the address bar:

http://www.starlessriver.com/shop/oversuits/aventure_verticale?cPath=1

Now, from back at the product listing page, hover over the third product (Aventure Verticale Holloch Confort oversuit (women's)) that you can add to the cart, you see this link:```
http://www.starlessriver.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1&products_id=6

From those observations, I'd suspect that something weird is going on with an seo url module and that's the underlying cause of not being able to add that first product to the cart.

Wow. I stand in awe :D

Yes, I am using Ceon Uri mapping and haven't got round to editing many products with it as I am waiting for my brother in law to finalise his product list first. Off the top of my head the product seem to match the ones that don't work. I'll have a complete look in a moment.

Don't know what to say. Just awestruck that you noticed that. I'd put a smilie in but none seem appropriate.

I'll see whether I can reverse that process. Shame, I liked the URI mapping.

Once again Bunyip I stand in awe of that diagnosis. If I turn of the re-write seems to work fine.

BIG THANKS - I would never have got there.

Yep - it seems that some pages are being redirected, and although the redirect is including the GET parameters (ie: action=add_product), the POST parameters (most importantly - qty and selected attributes) are not passed, so you get qty 0 added to the cart.

Re: Improved Attributes Controller (now built-in to v1.3.9)

Finally, sorry to have posted this on the improved attributes controller thread. As it turned out the mod had nothing to do with the problem. And as I said earlier it's a great mod that makes life so much easier.

Re: Improved Attributes Controller (now built-in to v1.3.9)

Quick question for those who are familiar with the code for this contrib: why is the sort order for my option values ignored and instead they are displayed in alphabetical order?

This makes selecting option values a chore since the sort order for my values is different than alphabetical. (i.e. I have a lot of half sizes that I want grouped together, but an alpha sort intersperses them with regularly stepped sizes).

I was able to fix this by commenting out line 1776:

	//arrTexts.sort();

but why is this the desired default? Shouldn't it be sort by sort order by default? I read earlier how some people want an alpha sort if they haven't set up a sort order - but the proper fix should only apply that if there is no sort order in the DB.

Just off the top of my head, I think that could be accomplished by slightly modifying the SQL query to output the values ordered by sort and then alpha (which would be just alpha if they have no sort order value).

Am I right here? I can make that change and post it here if anybody wants, but before I do that I just want to make sure that my commenting of the javascript sort line doesn't have other effects I'm not aware of.

P.S. It was a total kick to go through this thread and discover some fix for dual pricing I had posted back in 2006 was used by others here. I love open source and sharing fixes with the community. Thanks, everyone.

Re: Improved Attributes Controller (now built-in to v1.3.9)

The original code for this module did sort by the option name and value sort orders (it was originally my contribution but got updated by others while I was offline for over a year due to health reasons). If you look at the comments on the download page for the module, you'll see that the last revision specifically added the javascript to change the sort to alphabetical. For info, it didn't need to be done by javascript either, simply changing the order value in the sql query would have done it. (earlier versions do have download links there)

Re: Improved Attributes Controller (now built-in to v1.3.9)

Awesome contribution! I wish i had found this months ago!!!

Just downloaded and uploaded the file today. I had some issues at first with the layout. It wasn't tracking back to the css... looked through the code and saw the issue here:

around line: 576

<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="../../AppData/Local/Temp/Temp1_improved_attributes_controller_1-1b2.zip/includes/stylesheet.css"> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="../../AppData/Local/Temp/Temp1_improved_attributes_controller_1-1b2.zip/includes/cssjsmenuhover.css" media="all" id="hoverJS"> <script language="javascript" src="../../AppData/Local/Temp/Temp1_improved_attributes_controller_1-1b2.zip/includes/menu.js"></script> <script language="javascript" src="../../AppData/Local/Temp/Temp1_improved_attributes_controller_1-1b2.zip/includes/general.js"></script>

I took out "../../AppData/Local/Temp/Temp1_improved_attributes_controller_1-1b2.zip/" and the layout is fine.

You'll need to remove it from line 1012 as well.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Re: Improved Attributes Controller (now built-in to v1.3.9)

bunyip,
Where is the line to make Option Values boxes higher?
I have searched through the 1,000+ lines of code and could not find it.
I need this info because I have lots of attributes.
Thanks.

Re: Improved Attributes Controller (now built-in to v1.3.9)

First off, this is the best tool that I have come across! Thank you for creating it!:clap:

Question: Is there a way to have the attributes swatch color apply to all the colors I choose? I have a apparel website, I have many products that have many tshirt colors. So when I choose to add a black tshirt color choice and add the attribute swatch image file for that color it only applies to the shirt I am working on. I am looking for the ability to have the black apply to all my products that have black as a choice. Website is http://www.parleypromotions.com

Thank you

Terry

I have a lot of attributes and option values. I need them sorted alphabetically if no sort order is entered. And if there is a sort order entered for each value it should sort by the said sort order.

If you have a solution for this can you please post it :)

Thank you

Check the settings in the Configuration ... Product Info ...

Products Info - Product Option Value of Attributes Sort Order
Sort order of Product Option Values of Attributes for Products Info
0= Sort Order, Price
1= Sort Order, Option Value Name

Re: Improved Attributes Controller (now built-in to v1.3.9)

I do not believe you will need it as you already have the Attributes Controller where selecting an Option Name then filters the Option Values and allows for multiple selection in v1.3.9x ...

Re: Improved Attributes Controller (now built-in to v1.3.9)

I'm using 1.3.9f and have been reading back through 2009, and I'm afraid what I need is conditional (based on one comment) though I thought that's what this latest version offers. My situation: I have shoes that are available in certain sizes depending on the color choice. So if a customer chooses Option Name Color/Option Value Black, I would like the next dropdown, Option Name Size, to display the size values available for Black. Is that something the Attribute Controller does or is there additional programming involved. I'm bleary eyed and feeling hopeless.
