PAYPAL Payment but no order !

Hi All,

We have just found an unusual problem, our customers have placed orders on our site and the order has been accepted and payment taken but no order is shown on the Admin Main Page or against the customer profile.

We are having to only accept payments by cheque for the minute.

Site Details Below:
Zen Cart 1.2.6
Database Patch Level: 1.2.6
PHP Version 4.4.2

Has anyone seen this before ?, or have any suggestions.

For starters ... I'd upgrade to at least v1.2.7 if not the current version ...

Has PayPal ever worked right?

Is this a fresh install of v1.2.6 or an upgrade?

PayPal has been working fine for almost a year now, what we narrowed it down to was the fact that customers no longer have to have an account with PayPal, but can just pay via credit card.

When customers paid via credit card the transaction details are lost.

So, would upgrading fix this problem ?

We are looking to upgrade anyway, just we have modified the site quite a bit so just making sure all will work first.

when you say "transaction details are lost", is that just another way of saying that no order shows up in Zen Cart ?

And this is ONLY when the customer paid via Credit Card without creating a PayPal account?

Yes, That is correct

No order details, only when paying by credit card

As mentioned,

The problem above is definatley isolated to Credit Card payments on PayPal (No login requried).

I read about a new version of PayPal being updated in the future, is this in the pipeline for a new version soon ?

Also, We want to upgrade to the latest version of zen to get our system ready for future enhancements.

We are running Zen Cart Version 1.2.6 and want to do a fresh install with the full file set, what is the best way of doing this ?

i have a similar problem
i can purchase something via paypla and all works well
but no order will be shown in the admin under "orders"
what do i make wrong?

I just had the same thing happen. I had an order and nothing showed up under orders in my admin. I have a new customer but no order attached. I've received notice from PayPay, but I've no idea what got ordered. Help! :frusty:

I stumbled across this link in another thread and resolved my problem. I didn't have all the PayPal settings right.

It's taking me a while to work through some of the bugs as I find them, but this forum is pretty good about helping those of us less technical folks find the solutions. Sometimes I wish I was more of a computer geek or that I could afford to hire one.

I dont know if this will help any But I had this happen just once and it turned out the sql server was down a few moment as the order was placed, Other than that I take credit cards via paypal and out of about 300 orders sofar they have worked great just the one order one time.

Here is a tip that may come in handy. I had a few customers call and ask if they could pay by credit card and that made me wonder how many I lost who did not call. So I changed the little pic on the payment page to show credit cards and my orders have increased now that they see that credit cards are ok even without a paypal account. here is a link to the pic I use if you want to save it and use it.

I also installed the one page checkout mod and that seems to make customers happy not to have three diff pages just to get to paypal and pay.

I am still having an issue with this. I have tried all the trouble shooting on the wiki pages and seems to be a problem with the customer getting returned to the site. Is there any way to force paypal to send the data across if a user has a paypal account or not?

What mods do you have installed ?

We recently added the Simple Search Eng Optimization mod Simple SSEU.

We could not get orders to appear when paid by PayPal, it has something to do with the URL that Paypal uses to handshake back to Zencart to release the order

I've gone back to a pre SSEU setup whilst I test..

I've just had the lost order problem (my fault entirely - I moved servers and upgraded the shop recently but forgot to change the return page in Paypal IPN prefs). Anyway, upshot is that an order has gone missing. Is there any way I can recover and complete the order?

I experience exactly the same problem. If the customer did not click return to the web site, the order is not log properly. Any way to solve this?

make sure that you have auto return setup on your paypal.com

I do enable the auto return. But when receive fund from credit card, the auto return is not "automatic" as mention in Paypal page. And that is when the problem begin. I read on some post, seem like this is a bug in paypal side for years. Anyone got any workaround?

for paypal express, am i right that it only work for paypal payment but not credit card?
