Zen Lightbox addon [Support Thread]

niestudio:

Fantastico installations seem to add this prefix, but that is not the standard with installation files download from this website.

from the dist-configure.php file:

define('DB_PREFIX', ''); // prefix for database table names -- preferred to be left empty

Ahhh - now I understand. I did install this store the lazy way (Fantastico), simply because they had 1.3.9h available in Fantastico.

Cheers guys!

Re: Zen Lightbox addon [Support Thread]

Zen Cart v1.3.9h
Zen Lightbox v1.6.2

I've been trudging along building a site for the last 3 days and being dumb I've just been going along loading the site in Chrome.
So today I go and test it with Firefox and no images are showing at all! Not even the thumbnails.
It's been doing fine in Chrome, working perfectly.
In Opera hit or miss depending on box.

PC-1
Windows7
Firefox v7.0.1 - Nogo, nothing
Opera v11.52 - No Picts, but have frames
IE8 - Works
Chrome - Works

Linux Box
Chrome - Works
Firefox v3.6.17 - Nogo, nothing
Opera v11.0 - Works

PC-2
WinXPsp3
Firefox v8.0 - Nogo, nothing
IE8 - Works
Chrome - Works

I've searched for a half hour, going to go for a walk and clear out the gray matter... SIGH...

Thanks,
_mr

first off you will get better help with posting a link so we can see what you see and test things out.

secondly---should have been first--- this is most likely NOT a lightbox thing...especially since you said it has been working right in the one browser....but have you any other mods installed?

You may need to uninstall everything and go back to just the bare store...do them all one at a time ---then test in each browser before going to the next mod.

worst case is that it is not the mods but something in the actual browsers.

Hi,
I have uploaded and installed zen lightbox. Now I am wondering how it works. Not sure. Could anyone give me a clue or point me to a tutorial thread.
Thanks,

  1. go to admin/configuration/zen lightbox and make sure it is turned on with the settings( IF I recall it is automatically done)

  2. now go to the store, any product description page and click on the main image

it should open into the blacked ot window with the image dead center for viewing larger one.

that is it, if they don't open up into the "shut off the lights" type of window then it is not uploaded right...come back with link to your site for help

also before I forget again...READ the readme file included in the zip---the ENTIRE read me.

Thanks for replying. Question: do you upload ALL the files or just the 3 php files.

Thanks,

What are you looking at that you are only able to see 3 php files? The download pack has well over 20 files that need to be uploaded. There are 4 files that do not need to be uploaded (the Read_Me and the 3 sql files).

Either you're not looking through the download pack thoroughly, or your download got corrupted and is missing a ton of files. Also, did you read the installation instructions in the Read_Me file?

From the Read_Me:
To install Zen Lightbox follow the steps below.

** 1.** Download the latest version of Zen Lightbox from: http://www.zen-cart.com/index.php?main_page=product_contrib_info&products_id=273

**2.** Extract the contents (of zen_lightbox-v1.6.2b1-20110123.zip) to a temporary location, keeping the file structure intact. (Note: If you can't open this file try using 7-Zip, it's free!)

** 3.** Rename the following folders to match your template folder name.

  • includes\languages\english\extra_definitions\YOUR-TEMPLATE-FOLDER

  • includes\modules\YOUR-TEMPLATE-FOLDER

  • includes\templates\YOUR-TEMPLATE-FOLDER

** 4.** **Upload the entire contents of the includes folder and the images folder to your server, again keeping the file structure intact. **(Note: All files make use of the overrides system.)

****If you're not familiar with the override system, you need to read up on it before you install this or any other mod!!

Understanding the Override System
The Override System Really Simplified

** 5. **Open phpMyAdmin for your site and navigate to your database. Choose 'Import' and then 'choose file' and navigate to and select install.sql then choose 'Go'.

Alternative to step 5. If you do not have access to phpMyAdmin you can alternatively run the install.sql file (Admin > Tools > Install SQL Patches) in your Zen Cart admin. (Note: It's best to copy and paste the contents of install.sql into the text area and then press the send button.)

Zen Lightbox is now installed and ready to use!

You can configure various settings from the Zen Cart admin (Admin > Configuration > Zen Lightbox).

Thanks for the quick reply! Finally got back to it last night, and I think
that is was a bad import on my part.
The only other mod that I have installed is Apsona Site Admin that I'm
using for importing/exporting.
I believe I messed up when I went to do a quick import of 6 items
and I was copying from the .CSV file into Apsona.
I had a typo in the pathnames for the images. It appears that those 6
may have cause something to choke with the browsers.
I exported all 226 items and verified the images field and then performed an import/update
on just that table, and all the display probs are gone.
""/operator error"" I should have sat back and done a re-think before posting.

Zen Lightbox is working great, and the client really liked this method of displaying
multiple images.

Thanks again,
_mr

LOL operator error --- that culprit hits my house too and first I panic and sometimes come here then stop and think...thinking gets me into trouble though so try not to do it often.

glad it got straitened out for you but remember always post link to store so we can help even better.

Re: Zen Lightbox addon [Support Thread]

Hi everyone,

Having a bit of a problem with Lightbox.

I had no problems adding the files or running the script and the actual Lightbox works correctly, however I don't have an option for Zen Lightbox in my admin panel!

As far as I can see it should be under Admin - Configuration - Zen Lightbox but there's nothing there?

I'm actually looking for a way to display captions when using additional images and stumbled across the admin settings being missing, if anyone can help with either of my problems it would be hugely appreciated!

I'm using:

  • Zen Cart v1.5.0RC2
  • Zen Lightbox v1.6

Sorry my site is using local server at the moment so I don't have a link!

Cheers
Josh

It doesn't add the option in Zen Cart 1.50.

Thanks for the quick reply, that will be why I can't see it then!

Don't suppose you also have any idea if it's possible to use captions with additional images on product pages?

Do you have Firebug installed in Firefox? If so, remove it. It causes problems with image handling add-ons.

UM I think 1.50 RC is still pretty much a beta and might put up a fight.

Why not start your store with the latest 1.3.9h stable version until 1.50 is done totally?

Re: Zen Lightbox addon [Support Thread]

Will it be OK to downgrade back to 1.3.9h?

I'm not 100% sure why I chose the beta download to be honest, think I was a bit eager to get started!

Re: Zen Lightbox addon [Support Thread]

ZC 1.50 did away with admin/includes/boxes, so any mods using them will not function properly until those mods are appropriately updated.

Here is a list of mods that work with 1.5

Info about 1.50 beta (to see what's changed)
Info about 1.50 Release Candidate versions

There is a release candidate version of 1.50. If you're going to use 1.50, make sure you're using the RC rather than the beta.

I would not attempt to "downgrade". If you want to use 139h, do a complete uninstall of 150 and a fresh install of 139h.

If you need your store to be up and running sooner rather than later and want to use a lot of mods (or mods that aren't updated yet), recommend you install 139h with the mods of your choice, and once all the mods are updated to work with 150, you can upgrade at that time.

Re: Zen Lightbox addon [Support Thread]

Thanks for the replies everyone, I think I'll leave it on 1.5 for the minute and have a mess around to see if I can get the captions to work (even if it means just throwing the info I need straight onto the pictures) Then hopefully an update to the plugin will arrive at some point.

Cheers guys!

Re: Zen Lightbox addon [Support Thread]

Hi there, I just installed Zen Lightbox in one of my customer sites then I got this...

http://www.casademotores.com/sitio/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=4&products_id=7

When you click on the main or additional images, youll see the larger image at the botton of the site, cropped.

I reuploaded all the files many times.

Any ideas?
Tested on Firefox 7, IE 8.
Zen Cart 1.39h
Add-ons installed relative to images:
Image Handler 3
Additional Images Hover 1.0

Thank you all in advance.
