Fual Slimbox (Lightbox) - Ver 1.0 Support

Sabrina:

Thank you banswidthjunkie, I can wait for now, what I think could be more interesting is a decription of the pics!
But I can use it as it is for now. Thanks!
Well, don't hold your breath on that one! It sounds like a lot of work.

j/k... but since I'm building a shop to sell candles, I'm using additional images to show the different finishes/techniques, and a caption would be helpful.
In the meanwhile I'll add description to the image directly, I'm thinkin' it's the simplest and fastes way I have.
Congrats again for the mod, it's great!

Re: Fual Slimbox (Lightbox) - Ver 1.0 Support

Due to the way that zencart currently deals with images, having a different caption for each additional image would be an administrative nightmare. Perhaps in future versions the designers will change this. Until then I think that your suggestion of adding the description to the image is a pretty good one.

by the way if you tell me what "page x of y" is in Itallian I will pm you the file that you need to replace.

have you also thought about having a single page showing what all the different finishes look like?

Re: Fual Slimbox (Lightbox) - Ver 1.0 Support

I cannot tell if Slimbox or Zen Lightbox is working as I followed the directions.

The Image Handler 2 Watermark is working fine.

Can I hear an amen?

Cheers!

You have Zen Lightbox installed and it is currently overriding Slimbox.

  1. Have you installed the Zen Lightbox patch?
  2. Have you switched Zen Lightbox off in the admin?

Rats. I did have ZL off but then the watermark quits (IH2).

So turning it on kills FL?

How do I work around the one?

Cheers!

Page = Pagina
of = di

having one page for all the different finishes could be an idea, but doesn't the problem stays the same? How can I describe them? Sorry I'm not a smart zen-cart user!!
Thanks for the help!

@webskipper <- What happens when you turn ZL off? does the lightbox show, but there is no watermark, or dose the whole thing just die?

I will put IH2 on later and have a play, but any information you can give me would be useful.

@sabrina <- Download and install the new version and there is an option to change the "page x of y" to whatever you want. As for a page of all differernt finishes, I would have that as an extra thing, not as a replacement for all the finishes on each page.

Re: Fual Slimbox (Lightbox) - Ver 1.0 Support

Without ZL on, SL works similar to the standard Zen image handler and it does control centering the image but, without the watermark.

I don't really care for the spinwheel effect with ZL. it takes too much time to load.

Cheers!

AHA

I did turn off ZL and removed all the generated directories in the IH2 BMZ directory, to start over.

Not only does SL work faster than ZL but the IH2 Watermark works!

I just need to create a _LRG watermark image with larger text.

Re: Fual Slimbox (Lightbox) - Ver 1.0 Support

@sabrina <- yeah, just reinstall everything including the sql patch and you should be ready to go. Follow the instructions in the readme on upgrading if you are unsure. Let me know how you get on.

@webskipper <- pleased to hear it, just let me know if you have any other problems.

Re: Fual Slimbox (Lightbox) - Ver 1.0 Support

banswidthjunkie:

Small Announcement

There is a new version of slimbox available on the downloads page I strongly recommend anyone currently using slimbox to upgrade as it contains a small but important bug fix and allows you to have permenant next and prev buttons if there are additional images, which seems to be something that people were very keen on. This makes it work properly in IE6.

Note: if you upgrade you need to reinstall the SQL patch as well as copy all the files over.

nicely done - thanks banswidth!!

BTW: I still haven't figured out my DOM event issue yet and treemenu... I sort of took a break from it!! Got sidetracked on other stuff!!!

Anyway - I'm going to tackle it again. I have my DEV site in the VMWARE virtual machine and I figured out a way to "slow" the "machine" down (so I get the error more often) I installed the vm server on a JUMP/THUMB drive!! That
really slowed it down!!!

Where was i supposed to put that DOM thing anyway? Do you recall? I couldn't figure it out when I was playing with it before...

I remember you getting all pissy with me, telling me that you win every battle you fight and not to bother helping you, so I am going to heed your advice. Someone else in that thread got it working, maybe you should ask him.

True that... but that was when you told me I was fighting a losing battle, and basically not really helping at all... You were snooty - and because of that I "got pissy"... You really shouldn't get so defensive - you told me that tons of people were using it all over the internet... blah blah blah - no help at all. i was being sarcastic. Someone else had to come on the thread and give me a clue...

BTW - there are also TONS of people all over the internet that have this SAME problem - not ONLY that, but a some of them even have this SAME problem and WITH SLIMBOX.

It aint your code - so I don't know what your problem is. You just made it work for ZENCART - right...

Well - from most of this i have figured out another thing:

Internet Explorer SUX!

and yes - i will keep working on it

Re: Fual Slimbox (Lightbox) - Ver 1.0 Support

If you want people to give up their free time to help you for no reason other than the fact that they want to then you should at least be poilite.

I wanted to install lightbox on my own site, but after I started looking at how it had been written and the various problems that there seemed to be with it I started looking for alternatives and this seemed to be the best one.

To get to know zencart a little better I thought it might be nice to make it into an add-on that other people could use too. It turns out that it takes a lot more time making a stable plugin than it does integrating a bit of code into one site.

I, like lots of other people on this site have spent a lot of time on something that they don't get, or even want, any money for; they just do it for a bit of fun because it's more interesting than watching tv or whatever. What makes it not fun is when someone like you keeps on harping on about the same thing time and again, making criticisms about everything, pointing fingers everywhere, but doesn't take responsibility for the fact that perhaps something is just beyond them.

If you seriously want to sort your problem out, then maybe you should get back to basics; learn javascript (http://www.wrox.com/WileyCDA/WroxTitle/productCd-0764555871.html there is more than enough in this book for anyone) look at the mootools framework (http://mootools.net/), play with the yahoo api (http://developer.yahoo.com/) and become self sufficient.

This is the bug that you are encountering: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/927917

So as you Americans say, maybe it is time to put up or shut up?

yup

too defensive.

and then you throw the book at me!

and you think I am rude? "So as you Americans say, maybe it is time to put up or shut up?"

jeez. I think we got off on the wrong foot, as we Americans also say.

Re: Fual Slimbox (Lightbox) - Ver 1.0 Support

Now back to the THREAD topic:

what I need to do is figure out how to ensure that the LIGHTBOX loads in the page LAST.

From this link (which I already had)
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/927917

And my problem is because:
"
This problem occurs because a child container HTML element contains script code that tries to modify the parent container element of the child container. The script code tries to modify the parent container element by using either the innerHTML method or the appendChild method.
"

Or something like that. At first I thought i should make the JScrips (mootools, slimbox, and fual) load up at the end of the page... now I'm thing I can just try to separate out the code from the main DIV...

Re: Fual Slimbox (Lightbox) - Ver 1.0 Support

also - from this page:
http://clientside.cnet.com/code-snippets/manipulating-the-dom/ie-and-operation-aborted/

"
The general rule of DOM manipulation is that you can't mess with it until it's loaded, which is why we use the domready event (this is not a native event, but most frameworks have some method for creating this event).
.
.
.
The exception to this rule is that you can modify the DOM that's loaded so far if you do it inline. In other words, you can't modify the DOM before it's loaded, but you can modify the portion of the DOM that's loaded at any given point.

Re: Fual Slimbox (Lightbox) - Ver 1.0 Support

The more I keep working on this, the more I'm thinking about removing it...

it's a really cool affect...

about the first 300-400 times... but after a while i kinda gets old...

and this is TO NO OFFENSE to any of the coders, so don't everyone jump my chit here! :)

What this means is IF i do abandon it... then I won't have a solution to post... I know - everyone's going to be so depressed by that, I'm sure (insert sarcasm)

I may keep working it though, since I really do hate leaving stuff unfinished... we'll see.
