Gallery Integration with Zencart

I will send it by PM here.

I will be on skype tomorrow so i can look you up.

This is such a great solution but I think being able to :

pick which image is your default folder image would be great as well as adding a custom title and/or caption

same for images

Re: Gallery Integration with Zencart

After some testing I am able to confirm that if you simply place the number 1 in front of the filename of the file you want as the default folder image, it will use that one.

You can see it in a demo here

http://spottedhaggis.com/zendemo/index.php?main_page=page_2

Both folders have the same images in them however I added the number 1 in front of one different file in each folder, hence the outcome.

Re: Gallery Integration with Zencart

ok I had a look with limited access (that I pm you about)

Firstly, I never tested the gallery function as part of EZ pages, and as soon as I placed the code into the page 2 it works straight off, so It may be simpler to take the page2 and place the link to that into your ezpages menu instead.

I did also try using the link instead of html in the EZPage and that also works, so, in theory you can turn off the page 2 from being visible in the menus of the site, but still link directly to the actual page using ezpages, I have made the changes as best I can, though without ftp access I cannot modify the page 2 file to say gallery, but am sure your ok with that

Re: Gallery Integration with Zencart

ok so for those who want to have the gallery linked inside EZ Pages menu systems do the following.

Paste the code as per instructions into Page 2,3 or 4 your choice, then go to the ezpages, setup the link to page 2 (something like this)

index.php?main_page=page_2

Using the internal link option (note if you have already put html or text in the window above it will not save without removal of this content)

When thats done, simply goto define page status under the configuration menu, and set the page you want to use ( page 2 3 or 4) to 2 and it will hide page 2 from the menu of the shop but the gallery link you setup in Ez pages will work fine

Re: Gallery Integration with Zencart

yeah I just checked that out, that is really cool

I can still see where you can access the gallery in two ways

one is through the zen site , the other is through the actual folder URL

i wonder if there is a way to fix that.

did you have to change anything else in there?

Re: Gallery Integration with Zencart

No did not have to change anything else to get that solution working, as to the other issue I am still working on that side of things.

The way I see it is if the gallery can be run from within the includes folder that would solve the issue, however that is no simple thing to achieve.

I get the gallery working but no images or thumbs display when I test it, again leave it with me I will see what I can do.

Re: Gallery Integration with Zencart

Hi,
Trying to get this working installed in a subfolder (ie not in root). Adapted code to 'subfolder/gallery/', but not working for me. What am I missing?

Regards,

Sean

Re: Gallery Integration with Zencart

Blimey, that was quick...
http://www.hamiltontaylor.co.uk/zenhamtaytesting/

define_page_2.php

I don't thinlk that'll be much help, tho' - I'm getting a 403 on the page. I'll move the code to the main page in a mo', so you can see it.

Thanks,

Sean

Re: Gallery Integration with Zencart

Got it on main page now, along with a load of errors, which weren't there before.
If gallery is in root/subfolder, should code be:-

<?php $G_JGALL['inc_path'] = 'subfolder/gallery/'; include($G_JGALL['inc_path'] . 'index.php'); ?>

??
I don't understand why it works even though errors, and code used is

<?php $G_JGALL['inc_path'] = 'gallery/'; include($G_JGALL['inc_path'] . 'index.php'); ?>

Re: Gallery Integration with Zencart

I think it would be reasonable for me to say many of the errors on the page reffer to zencart functions and have nothing to do with the gallery at all.

Since the gallery integration is only in the form of a little php code within a single zencart page (in my case page 2) if you remove this code then the gallery has nothing at all to dow ith the shopping cart.

I think you should try and fix the errors you have first.

I can tell you that on a fresh install of Zencart I am able to upload the gallery, add a few images and it works right off the bat without issues, so you have issues with the cart I think.

Re: Gallery Integration with Zencart

Who is your host, what are they running (linux, windows etc) and did you upload the files to install zencart yourself or was it installed using fantastico?

If its using fantastico it should have been perfect.

Before you made any modifications did you check that the site had installed correctly. I see you installed Cherry template, so prior to this, or if you switch to the default template does the site still have errors

Re: Gallery Integration with Zencart

Yep, site was installed just fine - been making css changes to template for a while, on and off. Errors only showed when I added gallery script.
Host - linux, cart installed myself.

Some errors show when I switch to classic, but not same ones. mea culpa, if it's not the gallery, I've got some work to do, thanks for your help.

Re: Gallery Integration with Zencart

Have you tried removing all gallery files from your cart, and see if the cart works flawlessly?

I want to help but not sure how I can, gallery works fine when I do a fresh clean install, granted I am not using the cherry template, and its a little more complicated than most other templates.

Re: Gallery Integration with Zencart

I've installed the gallery on another (test) site also using cherry zen, and get the same errors. Using classic on that site gives no errors, works fine, so it's a problem with cherry. Ho Hum.

Re: Gallery Integration with Zencart

You know, I hate to say this but my test site had nothing installed, then I installed Gallery and it works fine, after your message I installed a new clean version of Cherry, no mods at all, just installed cherry, reset the sideboxes to default, and still my gallery is working.

The only error I have (which is both pre gallery and templates) is in the footer area, but otherwise its working without a hitch?

check for yourself.

http://spottedhaggis.com/zendemo/index.php?main_page=page_2

So not sure, but have you installed any mods that make alot of core file changes maybe?

Re: Gallery Integration with Zencart

Spotted haggis would you be able to help me with 2 minor problems??

I have got the gallery working but there is an annoying refresh problem. When i click on next on the photo's the page go's to the top every time so i have to scroll down to view the photo each time which looks really naff.

Is there a way to just click next or previous and be able to view the photo without doing this ???

You'll see what i mean http://fishingtackleoxford.co.uk/?main_page=page_4&JGALL_DIR=&JGALL_IMG=carp%20153.jpg

Also what is that in the footer ???

Notice: Undefined variable: var_linksList in /home/fishingtac/domains/fishingtackleoxford.co.uk/public_html/includes/templates/pure_blue/templates/tpl_ezpages_bar_footer.php on line 24

Re: Gallery Integration with Zencart

Firstly, the footer issue has nothing to do with the gallery, the gallery does not use or have its own footer, I think you will find if you goto the configuration/ez pages and turn ez pages off the error will vanish meaning its an ez pages issue within the template your using.

The other refesh issue is not actually anything to do with refresh either, simply put, the gallery displays the same as any other page on your site, so the same will happen with products etc, there is nothing I know of to get around it, thats not to say someone may know how to do whatyou want.

Sorry I cant be more help, but neither is actually an issue with the gallery itself.
