The new rates should now be showing.

You probably have an error in the syntax. I guess that now the new rates are showing this is no longer an issue?

    Cheers

Hi I have recently installed the AustPost Improved for shipping for a friend on her zencart site www.alittlebittarty.com/index.php late last week. I am testing today having tried adding weight for one product and when I select checkout I receive the following message

ERROR:Unable to obtain a valid quote from the Australia Post Server.
You may still checkout using this method and we will contact you with postage costs as soon as possible.

In the shipping option I have notice that the "AustPost" and "Zone Rates" are both green but I'm not sure what I've done wrong........ can any wonderful person help help help me...pretty please? I don't get where I've gone wrong :o(

    Thanks heaps

Hi.... I am just posting what versions I have if anyone can help

    Zencart V. 1.3.8a
    Austpost Approved module: 2.1.3
    My Host = Hostgator

I have been in to the austpost module and turned the "Use Curl" option to YES
and I'm still getting the same error message. So now I have just emailed support at my host Hostgator to see if they can add me to the CURL User List.... fingers crossed that works.

I have just received a reply from my host provider saying that they have added me to the CURL User List so everything should be good to go. However, when I go in and try to order something I am still receiving the error message ERROR:Unable to obtain a valid quote from the Australia Post Server.
Eeek..... what have I done, boo hoo... does any one have any life saving advice for me?

    Thanks heaps
    Victoria

I've just taken a look at this site to see if I can offer any help, but it appears you currently have the module disabled(?).
Anyway, I notice the only item in the store that has a weight associated with it is the test product (widget), as such this is the only item in the store that will give a valid quote. For some reason or another Australia post don't like shipping items that don't weigh anything. http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/images/smilies/no.gif

Also, don't wait for your webhost to help solve this problem for you. The server logs indicate that both the FILE and the CURL access methods are available to you.
The problem appears that for some reason or another there simply isn't a valid AustPost shipping option available for the item(s) you are attempting to purchase. I already mentioned that a zero weight item will cause this error, but a very high tare weight will also cause it.. eg, if you set the AustPost module to use "kgs" rather than "gms" and you have a tare weight of "40", it will be seen as 40kgs, which is heavier than AustPost will accept.

Another possible cause could be if (for example) you disable all methods of shipping except the 500gm prepaid bags and the item(s) in the cart weigh more than this, you'll also get the invalid quote error.

In short, the error that you are getting isn't a connection related, or even an installation related problem, it is almost certainly weight related.

    Cheers

Rod, thanks heaps for your reply, I was just doing a test with the 12 tarts I put in 0.5 thinking that was 500grams and got the error message again, I'm not to great on the conversion thingy, I'll pour over your detailed info above and see if I can get my head around it.

I really do appreciate the time you took to check this out for me,

At the risk of possibly confusing you, I would like to point out that zencart itself doesn't use Kgs, gms or even lbs for its weight, it uses 'units'. It is basically up to the store admin to determine what these 'units' really are.

The *only* reason the AusPost module has a Kg/gm setting is because the module itself requires consistancy in the data it sends to the AP servers, they expect the weights to be in grams.

This wouldn't have been an issue other than the fact that some zencart users already had stores setup using Kgs, and other were using gms, so rather than force half the existing users to all conform to using grams, I added this toggle so that conversions weren't neccessary.

For new installations (other than the preset tare weight) all you need do is choose your preference AND STICK TO IT.

IOW, if you elect to use Kgs, then anything less than 1kg needs to be specified as 0.xyx Kgs. conversely, if you elect to use gms you have to specify all items in gms. A 2kg item needs to be specified as 2000gms. You cannot mix gms and kgs in the same store.

If you keep this in mind you can't go too far wrong.
DO try to be as accurate with your weights (and dimensions) as possible. The more accurate you are, the more accurate the quote will be (especially with multiple items).

    Cheers
    Rod

    Hello

    Client is a photographer.

Site is built using ZenCart 1.38 and Gallery2 using Gallery bridge. Shipping is using the Aust Post module.

    Photos are uploaded using Gallery2.

    Each photo has different sizes

    • 6x4
    • 7x5
    • 6x5
    • 8x10
    • 8x12 (A4)
    • 29x40 (A3)
    • 42x60 (A2)
    • 60x80 (A1)
and each size has a different weight in kilograms.

In order to calculate the shipping correctly I want to be able to specify a size and weight for each attribute

    eg a 6x4 photo has a size of 15.2cm x 10.2 cm x 0.5cm and an approx weight of 0.25 kgs

    where a 8x12 photo has a size of 20.3cm x 30.5cm x 0.5cm and an approx weight of 0.75 kgs

I want to be able to set this generically, without having to do this on a per item basis.

I would also like it to be applied whenever new photos are added via Gallery, without the client having to globally reapply the settings (client not very shopping cart savvy )

Is there any way to do this?

    Regards
    Danielle
