Facebook - eCommerce Catalog Browse [Support]

coucho:

Ok I am using ultimate seo so I will send a copy of the ht access file in response to the ticket I created because I'm not sure what changes need to be made.

Thanks,

Allan
How about you post your question in the Ultimate SEO support thread.. I believe that Ultimate SEO provides mechanisms which allow you to exclude pages without modifying the .htaccess files..

Hi

No fb_browse.php must be in the root for the app to work. The problem is the SEO URL is blocking access to this file. Normally this can be done by editing your .htaccess to not redirect the fb_browse.php requests.

If you are using CEON Friendly URL, then in your .htaccess file you should find:

BEGIN CEON URI MAPPING REWRITE RULE

RewriteEngine On

Don't rewrite any URIs ending with a file extension (ending with .[xxxxx])

RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !.[a-z]{2,5}$ [NC]

Don't rewrite any URIs for some, popular specific file format extensions,

which are not covered by main file extension condition above

RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !.(mp3|mp4|h264)$ [NC]

Don't rewrite any URIs for some specific file format extensions,

which are not covered by main file extension condition above

Uncomment the following line to apply this condition! (Remove the # at

the start of the next line)
#RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI}
!.(3gp|3g2|h261|h263|mj2|mjp2|mp4v|mpg4|m1v|m2v|m4u|f4v|m4v|3dml)$ [NC]

Don't rewrite admin directory

RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/epdshop [NC]

Don't rewrite editors directory

RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/editors/ [NC]

Don't rewrite sample directory

RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/sample/ [NC]

Don't rewrite logs directory

RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/logs/ [NC]

Handle all other URIs using Zen Cart (its index.php)

RewriteRule .* index.php [QSA,L]

END CEON URI MAPPING REWRITE RULE

>
> You need to add:
> ```
#Exclude fb_browse from rewrite
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !fb_browse.php [NC]

prior to :

Handle all other URIs using Zen Cart (its index.php)

RewriteRule .* index.php [QSA,L]

Just wanted to chime in that I am using this module on a site that has Ceon URI installed and I did not have to make any changes like this to the .htaccess file.. This module works JUST fine.. <https://www.facebook.com/pages/Table-Leg-World-Inc/178209902219697?sk=app_136002413133082>

Re: Facebook - eCommerce Catalog Browse [Support]

Bright Software Solutions

I have installed the fb_browse.php to root, but when I copied the entire install.sql into the textbox, I get this:

["1064 You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'TYPE=MyISAM' at line 7 in: [CREATE TABLE zen_zen_upgrade_exceptions ( upgrade_exception_id smallint(5) NOT NULL auto_increment, sql_file varchar(50) default NULL, reason varchar(200) default NULL, errordate datetime default '0001-01-01 00:00:00', sqlstatement text, PRIMARY KEY (upgrade_exception_id) ) TYPE=MyISAM ] If you were entering information, press the BACK button in your browser and re-check the information you had entered to be sure you left no blank fields."]

Facebook Catalog Browser is installed under Configuration, but there is nothing inside.

I am currently running three languages, don't know if that makes any difference....Can you please help?

Re: Facebook - eCommerce Catalog Browse [Support]

I believe it a compatible issue with MySQL as it been report previous on a different thread:

http://www.zen-cart.com/showthread.php?117773-1064-You-have-an-error-in-your-SQL-syntax-TYPE-MyISAM

Your version of MySQL probably requires that you to edit the SQL script to replace every occurrence of

TYPE=MyISAM

with

ENGINE=MyISAM

As always please make sure you take a backup of your database prior to make any changes.

Re: Facebook - eCommerce Catalog Browse [Support]

Hi

Sorry just realized the error message is actually part of zen-cart not being able to log upgrade errors, rather than relating to installation of the plug-in. Trying to resolve the issue with Zen-cart might not be that easy. An alternative solution would be to manually set a plug-in key by searching for BSS_PLUGIN_KEY in fb_browse.php by replacing it with a password of your choice in quotes. e.g.

Change (Approximately Line 85):

if (!($admin_pass == BSS_PLUGIN_KEY)) {

to

if (!($admin_pass == 'MyNewPassword')) {

This will remove the need to find the plug-in key in the admin and you can then proceed onto installing the Facebook app, using the key you have manually created.

Kind regards

Re: Facebook - eCommerce Catalog Browse [Support]

Thanks Bright Software Solutions for the help and the quick reply!

I have changed line 85, and I even tried to match the MyNewPassword with the Admin login, but it still throws the same message......Am I doing something wrong?

I am running v1.3.9h

Re: Facebook - eCommerce Catalog Browse [Support]

Hi

With the password set in the file, you no longer need to install the script. The password you enter in the fb_browse.php will now be the password you use for the plug-in key when you install the app onto your Facebook page.

This password should be different from your admin password any random string will do as long as you remember it whilst installing the app on Facebook after that you will not need it again.

Kind regards

Re: Facebook - eCommerce Catalog Browse [Support]

By the way....any chance to get this working as a mobile version? Is Facebook putting restrictions on this? I see that Storeya is able to get this done.

Thanks!!

Re: Facebook - eCommerce Catalog Browse [Support]

Hi

Previously it was not possible as you could only link to an external mobile app that took you out to the app store to allow your client to install custom app for each shop, so we were not able to provide this functionality. However this might have changed, if Storeya are now displaying catalogs in their mobile web version. We will investigate and see if we can add this functionality. However it would be helpful to us if you could confirm an example url that has a working mobile version as we are unable to get any of their demo stores to work on mobile.

Kind regards

Re: Facebook - eCommerce Catalog Browse [Support]

See if this works:
https://www.facebook.com/klozerhk/app_149696141763776

Although the Facebook Store has not setup, I can at least see the tab on my phone ONLY if I am using the browser to login. If I am using the Facebook app and click on the same link, it will display "This page is for an app that doesn't work on mobile devices. Please try visiting it the next time you use Facebook on your computer."

I guess it might still be a long shot until the Facebook App allows Facebook store to function correctly.

Re: Facebook - eCommerce Catalog Browse [Support]

Hi

Thank-you for the link, you are correct - without the Facebook app supporting third party apps it is never really going to work on mobile devices.
eCommerce Browser supports mobile the same way as StoreYa when you view the full Facebook site on mobile then it displays fine. However if you request the mobile version of StoreYa it is not available. (https://m.facebook.com/klozerhk/app_149696141763776). As a result when you visit a Facebook page with any app installed, the app tab doesn't appear unless they are external iOS or Android apps. We will keep and eye on this and if Facebook ever does allow interaction via their app or mobile site we will endeavour to provide this functionality to your clients.

Kind regards

Re: Facebook - eCommerce Catalog Browse [Support]

Install the Plugin to my online store
I downloaded and installed
**Facebook - eCommerce Shop Browser - Version: v2.0 to be used with Zen Cart V1.3.9h, the sql was installed with out errors on the web site, i copied the only file **fb_browse.php to the root. I created the Catalog Browser Plugin Key.

Added the 'App' to my Facebook page

I followed the instruction on Facebook adding the app and filled out the fields and saved them, clicked on leave admin mode and that is when i got this error:

Error : Shop plugin has not been located error code 403 returned, please check that it has been installed at

Any idea what this error means?

Re: Facebook - eCommerce Catalog Browse [Support]

Hi

Please check the URL is entered correctly within the app settings, as the system can't retrieve your product data feed.
A 403 response means the request is being blocked ( 403 - Forbidden HTTP status code).

Alternatively it could mean your server is blocking access to the fb_browse.php file. If the problem persists, please can you confirm your shop URL, so we can investigate.

Re: Facebook - eCommerce Catalog Browse [Support]

Hi

Most likely it means the system is failing to retrieve the XML feed, possibly relating to the same issue of not being able to access the plug-in.

Please can you confirm your shop URL, so we can investigate.

Re: Facebook - eCommerce Catalog Browse [Support]

Hi TamyA,

I can see you have tried to install it on two different Facebook pages.

One you attempt to install it as an app, the system is reporting that the Plug-in key is incorrect, as a result it can't retrieve the data.

The second you attempt via XML but you didn't specify the location of the XML file. You need to give the exact URL of the Google XML product feed for the system to import it correctly.

I would recommend that you fix the plug-in key via the app admin and it should hopefully start working. As this will give you the best result, as the Google product feed doesn't provide all the information, and results in reduced functionality.

Kind regards
