Re: Facebook - eCommerce Catalog Browse [Support]

Hi
Installed this module with the standard subscription and all is good. Except each product shows twice - once with the price including VAT and next to it again without VAT. Both products in the Facebook online store link to the same Zen cart product. I also had this problem when I used the Magento module.
Can you advise what could be causing this.

Re: Facebook - eCommerce Catalog Browse [Support]

Hi

This can occur when you have two tax rates under the same tax class, since the plug-in can't determine customers zone both are displayed. If you don't want two tax rates for the same tax class, we would recommend you remove one in the admin.

If this is how you intentionally set-up to allow you to tax based on customers' zone, then you will need to make a minor modification to the plug-in so only one rate is displayed.

To limit plug-in to one rate go to the Tax Rates editor in the admin and click the tax you want to apply, then make a note of the tax id in the URL (e.g. tID=2).

Now in fb_browse.php find:

```php
$Query_TableTax = " left outer join " . TABLE_TAX_RATES ." tr on tr.tax_class_id = p.products_tax_class_id ";
Limit this query to your choosen tax_rate by adding the id "* and tax_rates_id= ? *".
E.g. for the Tax ID tID=2 change the query to:
	```php
	$Query_TableTax = " left outer join " . TABLE_TAX_RATES ." tr on tr.tax_class_id = p.products_tax_class_id and tax_rates_id=2";

Kind regards

Re: Facebook - eCommerce Catalog Browse [Support]

1.3.9h

Hi,

I installed your plugin some many months ago and got it working fine after a while - I hadn't checked it for months and today I went to the store and everything will show up OK however there is no linking to the site - it is just a bunch of pretty pictures taking up space. https://www.facebook.com/HarmonyBalls/app_136002413133082

Any ideas what it could be?

cheers,
Mike

Re: Facebook - eCommerce Catalog Browse [Support]

Hi

The 30 days free trial of the full version ended. You should have received notification via email based on the contact details you provided when setting up the app. Users are automatically transferred onto the Free lite version after the trial is over. The lite version is an image gallery for your products and is funded via advertising banners at top and bottom of the page.

All versions and prices are available for comparison here:
http://www.ecommercebrowser.com/info/prices

Sorry for any confusion. We try to make this clear on the app, and the download is labelled "ALERT: This is a free addon which can be used to connect your store to the commercial services offered by the Bright Software product.". Please feel free to continue using the lite version; there is never any obligation to upgrade.

Kind regards,

Thanks - so my 'shop here without leaving Facebook message' in the banner is now only valid for my Etsy shop in Facebook, same same I suppose, commission going to one place and not another.

Interesting concept - how can a page that doesn't work be "funded by advertising", funding only happens if the ad is clicked on right? - oh I know because I did it - clicking on product images doesn't work so in frustration you click on the BIG RED PULSATING "CONTINUE" button - very clever, deceptive but clever. It would be less deceptive if the ad had a border around it so as to be seen to be separate to the 'store', that way someone who clicks on the ad will be doing so because they actually want to rather than being masterfully deceived into doing so.

By the way - I didn't get my Steak Knives after signing up for the free 30 day trial.

Can you tell me how to put a header message or banner on the page between the ad and the shop that doesn't work?

cheers,
Mike

Re: Facebook - eCommerce Catalog Browse [Support]

Hi Mike,

The contents of the advert is not within our control, originally we used Google adverts as they were better quality (as deceptive are not allow by Google). However Facebook banned apps from using Google Ads and only allow you to choose one of their prefered companies. Unfortunely the adverts provided by these companies are not as good and can be deceptive. As they are not well targeted to customers, they appear to rely on people clicking by accident. As a result, we are now making a loss on the cost of hosting over 6000 free facebook apps.

As for adding a banner, this can be done via the admin mode under the "Appearance" tab in the "Top Banner".

Kind regards,

It is for this reason that I advise my customers to not waste their time installing this unless they intend to pay for the subscription for your service.. There really isn't ANYTHING useful for potential customers in the "Free lite version", and we really don't want to deal with banner ads.. they make the Facebook page look unpolished IMHO... I think the fee for your subscription is reasonable, and the clients who have subscribed to your service think so too..

Re: Facebook - eCommerce Catalog Browse [Support]

I tried to follow the basic steps for version 1.8 installed on Zen Cart 1.3.9h. However, I do not see the Facebook Catalog Browser under the Configuration after running the Install SQL Patch. What information do you need?

Re: Facebook - eCommerce Catalog Browse [Support]

Hi

It probably throwing a SQL error, we have seen compatibility issue with old versions of MySQL in the past. However the easiest solution is to manually set the plug-in key inside the fb_browse.php as this will removes the need to run the SQL script. To do this, simply change (approx line 89):

if (!($admin_pass == BSS_PLUGIN_KEY)) {

to

if (!($admin_pass == 'MyNewPassword')) {

This does have the disadvantage that you will not be able to set the password inside the shop admin, but this is only done once during installation so it is not important.

Kind regards

Re: Facebook - eCommerce Catalog Browse [Support]

Hi

Please make sure you are installing the app onto a Facebook Page not a Profile. As Facebook handles these differently and the app will not work on Profiles as it will only be visible to the owner. You can convert a personal profile to a 'page' (used for businesses and public figures) whilst maintaining all your friends. The instructions for doing this can be found here: http://www.facebook.com/help/?page=18918

After adding the app to your Facebook Page you will be presented with a registration screen that allows you to enter your user details. If you click the "Settings" tab at the top of the page you will then be able to enter your plugin key, see screenshot.

Attachment 14467

You can return to these setting via the "Admin mode" link which is visible in the left hand menu or the footer in single column mode.

If you are still having problems with installation, please can you confirm your Facebook Page URL so we can investigate.

Kind regards

Thanks for the information. Facebook finally cooperated and I have the app installed on the page and the key entered but no products appear. It says more products coming soon. Is this caused by a software installation mistake I may have made on my site? The facebook profile page is: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Perk-A-Latte/265997540276506

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Re: Facebook - eCommerce Catalog Browse [Support]

Hi

Please can you check that fb_browse.php is present in the root of the shop, as when the Facebook app is calling the data feed :

http://perkalatte.com/fb_browse.php?n=zc_browse&p=YOUR_PLUGIN_KEY

The system is receiving a 301 redirect to the homepage:

http://perkalatte.com/index?n=zc_browse&p=YOUR_PLUGIN_KEY

If it is installed in the root, it could caused by SEO friendly URLs redirect this request. If this is the case the, previous customers have had to exclude fb_browse.php in the .htaccess file to resolve this issue.

Kind regards

Re: Facebook - eCommerce Catalog Browse [Support]

Hi

No fb_browse.php must be in the root for the app to work. The problem is the SEO URL is blocking access to this file. Normally this can be done by editing your .htaccess to not redirect the fb_browse.php requests.

If you are using CEON Friendly URL, then in your .htaccess file you should find:

## BEGIN CEON URI MAPPING REWRITE RULE
RewriteEngine On
# Don't rewrite any URIs ending with a file extension (ending with .[xxxxx])
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !\.[a-z]{2,5}$ [NC]
# Don't rewrite any URIs for some, popular specific file format extensions,
# which are not covered by main file extension condition above
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !\.(mp3|mp4|h264)$ [NC]
# Don't rewrite any URIs for some specific file format extensions,
# which are not covered by main file extension condition above
# Uncomment the following line to apply this condition! (Remove the # at
the start of the next line)
#RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI}
!\.(3gp|3g2|h261|h263|mj2|mjp2|mp4v|mpg4|m1v|m2v|m4u|f4v|m4v|3dml)$ [NC]
# Don't rewrite admin directory
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/epdshop [NC]
# Don't rewrite editors directory
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/editors/ [NC]
# Don't rewrite sample directory
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/sample/ [NC]
# Don't rewrite logs directory
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/logs/ [NC]
# Handle all other URIs using Zen Cart (its index.php)
RewriteRule .* index.php [QSA,L]
## END CEON URI MAPPING REWRITE RULE

You need to add:

#Exclude fb_browse from rewrite
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !fb_browse.php [NC]

prior to :

# Handle all other URIs using Zen Cart (its index.php)
RewriteRule .* index.php [QSA,L]

Please make sure you take a backup of your .htaccess file prior to make any changes. If you are not sure what change is required if you can respond to the existing support ticket you create yesterday on our main support site, with a zipped copy of your .htaccess file we can review and confirm the changes you required.

Kind regards

Ok I am using ultimate seo so I will send a copy of the ht access file in response to the ticket I created because I'm not sure what changes need to be made.

Thanks,
