Facebook - eCommerce Catalog Browse [Support]

The app doesn't auto post anything, but you or your users can post/share products onto your own walls, by clicking the Facebook icon next to each of the products.

The post will automatically include product name, image and link to the product on your Zen-cart website, along with any comments the user wishes to add.

An example shop can be seen here:

Re: Facebook - eCommerce Catalog Browse [Support]

If you don't use inventory counts, they may be set to zero in your store. In this case your products will not show up. If this is the case, you need to make every product have an inventory count. You can search for a sql statement to easily do this to all your products in Zen Cart. Hope this helps.

Re: Facebook - eCommerce Catalog Browse [Support]

Hi

Thanks solidrock, however in the Facebook app admin section you can just click 'display out of stock products' and it will now automatically show products that have zero stock quantity, so this should no longer be an issue.

juneloweelyn has contacted us via our Facebook page and it would appear the issue was an invalid shop URL. This caused the system to wait, and time out when trying to get to their shop. This was resulting in the blank page.

We have corrected the URL and believe that this is now resolved the issue, but we are waiting for them to complete their plug-in key settings to confirm it's working.

Regards

Re: Facebook - eCommerce Catalog Browse [Support]

Zencart v1.5 have changed how modules have to register to appear in the admin, this involves two changes.
Additional script, to run after the original version in the zip file.

This registers the page in the new Admin_Pages table:

#Get Configuration group id
SELECT (@configuration_group_id:=configuration_group_id)
FROM configuration_group
WHERE configuration_group_title= 'Facebook Catalog Browser'
LIMIT 1;

# Register the pages for Admin Access Control
INSERT INTO admin_pages (page_key,language_key,main_page,page_params,menu_key,display_on_menu,sort_order)
VALUES ('configeCommerceBrowser','BOX_CONFIGURATION_ECOMMERCEBROWSER','FILENAME_CONFIGURATION',concat('gID=',@configuration_group_id),'configuration','Y',@configuration_group_id);

Then we need to add a new language entry to give the Module it's title. Quickest solution will be to add it to the existing admin language file
e.g. in /admin/includes/languages/english.php

search for "BOX_CONFIGURATION_EZPAGES_SETTINGS" and on a new line below, add:

define('BOX_CONFIGURATION_ECOMMERCEBROWSER', 'Facebook eCommerce Browser');

Then refresh the admin and the menu item should appear.

Re: Facebook - eCommerce Catalog Browse [Support]

Sorry but I cannot get the FB Browser Page to appear in the Config section to get the passkey for facebook. I tried to the above page but got an error so had to reverse the additions. I am really not sure where you want to add the config code to get it to work right. Here is my website: http://jolenesbooksandmore.com/JBM13admint
I had to do a fresh install of Zencart 1.5 and lost my database. I have already paid for a full year of standard addition and would like to get this working again on my facebook page. Thanks for the help.

Re: Facebook - eCommerce Catalog Browse [Support]

Hi,
That's weird do you know what error you received as it worked fine for us on a clean system, so I am wonder if the script begin affected by the version of MySQL?

An alternative solution, is you can manually set a plug-in key by searching for BSS_PLUGIN_KEY in fb_browse.php by replacing it with a password of your choice in quotes. e.g.

Change (Approximately Line 85):

if (!($admin_pass == BSS_PLUGIN_KEY)) {

to

if (!($admin_pass == 'MyNewPassword')) {

This will remove the need to find the plug-in key in the admin and you can then proceed onto installing the Facebook app, using the key you have manually created.

Kind regards

Re: Facebook - eCommerce Catalog Browse [Support]

What a NEAT add-on and Facebook App!!! Took no time to install, and no time to configure.. It ties my client's FB page to her store in a very SEEMLESS manner.. Hopefully now she will be more motivated to keep up her Facebook page!!

Re: Facebook - eCommerce Catalog Browse [Support]

Hi

The website URL that needed to be entered into the Facebook app, should only be the root / folder the shop is installed in (i.e. no index.php). We have corrected this for you, and your products are now appearing correctly.

Kind regards

Re: Facebook - eCommerce Catalog Browse [Support]

Thank you. I had actually tried entering it both ways and it wasn't working. I'm glad you could fix it on your end.

Re: Facebook - eCommerce Catalog Browse [Support]

Hi I have just set this up in ZenCart 1.51 I installed the sql and nothing changed in my config, so read all the posts on here and saw there was an additional sql to install on ZC 1.5.0 so I installed that. I then had the facebook menu in my config but no values in it. I then manually entered a password as mentioned a few posts back and set up a facebook page and everything works fine there. I would like to see the facebook values in my config though, any ideas?

Re: Facebook - eCommerce Catalog Browse [Support]

This is normally caused by one of two reasons:
Did you add the entry to the language file
i.e. add :

define('BOX_CONFIGURATION_ECOMMERCEBROWSER', 'Facebook eCommerce Browser');

To the bottom of /admin/includes/languages/english.php

Alternatively the MySQL script has failed to find the original configuration group created by the first install script and as a result the insert fails. To manually find the configuration_group_id:

SELECT configuration_group_id FROM configuration_group WHERE configuration_group_title= 'Facebook Catalog Browser'

Then you need to create a new entry in the admin_pages table, with the ID found above inserted into the 2 locations INSERT_ID_HERE :

INSERT INTO admin_pages (page_key,language_key,main_page,page_params,menu_key,display_on_menu,sort_order)
VALUES ('configeCommerceBrowser','BOX_CONFIGURATION_ECOMMERCEBROWSER','FILENAME_CONFIGURATION','gID=INSERT_ID_HERE','configuration','Y',INSERT_ID_HERE);

P.s. You will need to revert the manual password you added, back to the original format, otherwise the setting in the Zencart admin will be ignored.

Re: Facebook - eCommerce Catalog Browse [Support]

I am using zen art 1.5.1 and I am trying to install this module. I have posted the fb_browse.php to the root folder and I can see it there. There was no new listing in the configuration category. I also tried going into the english.php folder and adding manually and still nothing. I have added the script and there were no errors. I search for the page and get the following Illegal Access Denied. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I am new to zen cart so I am sure I am messing something up somewhere.

I am still in the process of configuring my site so if you could help me figure this out before I get all the items listed this would be a great help. Thank you for taking the time to read this and get back to me. - David -

Re: Facebook - eCommerce Catalog Browse [Support]

The easiest option is to copy the fb_browse.php and manually set the plug-in key inside of this file. This removes the need to run any SQL scripts but does mean that it does not appear in the admin.

To manually set a plug-in key by searching for BSS_PLUGIN_KEY in fb_browse.php by replacing it with a password of your choice in quotes. e.g.

Change (Approximately Line 85):

if (!($admin_pass == BSS_PLUGIN_KEY)) {

to

if (!($admin_pass == 'MyNewPassword')) {

Then use the plugin key you just create in the installation of the Facebook app.

Re: Facebook - eCommerce Catalog Browse [Support]

We sell coins on our website and our product prices changes every 5 min or so due to metal prices, would the updated prices show on Facebook page? Just curious how the pricing data is displayed on Facebook, do I have to update prices on facebook also every 5 min or is it link to the products table database in Zencart?

Thank you
