Yahootreemenu with ajax.

willandjenny:

Any ideas on why my categories are not liked to the category pages? Please see me site for more details:

www.Custom-BuiltPC.com

Thank you for any help that you may offer.

the module .htaccess in the root of your site has to be rewritten because you have a double url .
One is http://www.Custom-BuiltPC.com and the other is http://Custom-BuiltPC.com
the second one has been defined as the base root of your site in the configure.php when you installed the shop so all the categories will be lnked to that base url and you may see that it actually works while the first one doesn't.
All you have to do is a rewrite url whit your notepad and save it as **.htaccess
**so that your apache server understands:
############################
##.htaccess file##################

RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www.Custom-BuiltPC.com$ [NC]
RewriteRule .* http://Custom-BuiltPC.com / [L,R=301]

#############################

In this way you'll redirect all of your visitors to the correct base url and you will also improve your google ranking, actually shared between the two's.
Test it before locally in your easyphp root, or whatever else you use for testing, than upload it in the root of your productive site.
You may see this mechanism (but in the opposite direction..) working on my site right here:
http://insitesolutions.com.br

Hope it helps

Re: Yahootreemenu with ajax.

Is it possible to increase the subcategory indentions or to make the main categories a larger font so that the main categories are more easily distinguishable from the subs?

Check out my site and you can see that the subcategories are very hard to distinguish from the primary categories: http://Custom-BuiltPC.com

Thank you in advance for any advice you may offer.

Re: Yahootreemenu with ajax.

Just to let anyone who has this problem know what the solution is:

I installed the ajax menu, I had two main categories, the first one would not load no matter what I did, unless I disabled the ajax. So anyhow messing about with trying to get it fixed I stumbled upon the following:

This menu does not work with "Extended Ascii Codes", i.e. the é in Animé, etc.

Look for ascii codes here: http://www.asciitable.com/

Once the é was removed the menu worked great!

Thanks for this contrib, makes browsing the site so much quicker!

Re: Yahootreemenu with ajax.

I think it's same problem I explained with my poor english in http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?p=305521#post305521

Try editing load_branch.php (in root directory) and find the code:

echo htmlentities($cat['categories_name']) . $productsCountForTitle ."\n";

and replace with:
echo str_replace('&','&', htmlentities($cat['categories_name'])) . $productsCountForTitle ."\n";

let me know if that works, I've been using this mod for months and works like a charm.

William,

Try renaming "tree.css" to "stylesheet_tree.css" and your main cats will have an arrow pointer next to them indicating that there are sub cats available.

Re: Yahootreemenu with ajax.

Greetings all,

My Yahootreemenu works fine in Firefox, but has a problem in IE 7: when you click on a category or subcategory, the last few letters of the category name disappear. It doesn't seem to be a problem related to font size or column width, as it happens on short names, too.

Does anyone have an idea as to how to fix this? Thanks in advance.

Newbie, Linda

PS. I can PM the website address.
PSS. I may not be able to respond right away...until my toddler's naptime.

Re: Yahootreemenu with ajax.

This newbie isn't sure if I followed your advice correctly, but I tried adding "line-height: 1.2em;" to the tree CSS. Not sure if I placed it in the right position. I tried placing it in both of these sections, to no avail:

/* the style of the text label in ygTextNode */
.ygtvlabel, .ygtvlabel:link, .ygtvlabel:visited, .ygtvlabel:hover {
	/*
	margin-left:2px;
	text-decoration: none;
	*/
	font-size: 11px;
}

.current {
	font-size: 11px;
	font-weight: bold;
}

More on the problem: I did notice that when the pointer/cursor moves over the missing category letters (all the way back to the left margin/category arrow), the full text reappears. I'm not sure if this helps in diagnosing the problem.

Thanks for any and all help. Linda

Re: Yahootreemenu with ajax.

have you renamed tree.css to stylesheet_tree.css ?
That is the only way that IE intends....
is it possible that you have into the default zen-cart css the a:link on line 22
to #ffffff color ?
For better inspect of your stylesheet you should try firebug extension for firefox
and than play around with it.
For a better view you should post the link of your site...

Re: Yahootreemenu with ajax.

Has anyone come up with a solution for the product page load issue. I too have narrowed it down to a conflict with the Yahoo tree menu and either Image Handler or Hoverbox. I also tried slimbox and lightbox.

If I turn off Yahoo menu and all works well, with it on I receive the "unable to load error 2 for every 3 tries. A refresh usually brings it up, but I can't depend on that.

This is no doubt a conflict the menu is having with other loaded javascript. Any solutions? I have a live test site at offshorewake2.offshorewakemarine.com

Re: Yahootreemenu with ajax.

Russian characters in category names inside YTM show up weird, even though the rest of the store is showing up in the correct charset. What's up with that and how do I fix it?

Re: Yahootreemenu with ajax.

This plugi works just fine on my local zencart but when i loaded it up to sever, it does not work.
check it out:

http://ghazalis.web44.net/

here is you clkc on the side it does not show the sub-categories.

however, if you go directly to a page of a product the tree is expanded and works fine.
