Yahootreemenu with ajax.

Interestingly: the ondomready has only been mentioned twice on this entire forum... which would be right up here in the last couple posts!

So - I got to your link, j-spider... now off to figure out what file to put it in...

Re: Yahootreemenu with ajax.

I have found that sometimes different javascripts can conflict with each other. Could this be what's happening here? For instance, Lightbox 2 slideshow that I have installed (I plan on packaging it up for release in the downloads section soon) conflicted with the Dynamic Price Updater mod from Chrome until a change in the reg ex and a couple of lines of code got them to play together nicely.:D

I hope that you can get it sorted, and when you do please post detailed steps of what you did to make them work together.

Re: Yahootreemenu with ajax.

Thanks man...

I thought I fixed it, but the error happened again...

What file do I put the onDomready thing in???

BTW - I'm using tree_menu - not YAHOO - not sure if that matters or not?
so in

/www/includes/modules/sideboxes/mytemplatename/treemenu.php

I put this at the top:

<script type="text/javascript"> function init() { tree_menu.util.Dom.setStyle("hidden_element", "visibility", ""); } tree_menu.util.Event.onDOMReady(init); </script> <?php /** * treemenu sidebox - prepares content for the treemenu categories sidebox */ $tree_menu_items = ''; $tree_menu_noscript = ''; $treemenu_fn = DIR_FS_SQL_CACHE . '/categories-treemenu-' . $_SESSION['language']; if (defined('SMART_CACHE') && SMART_CACHE == 'true' && is_file($treemenu_fn . '.js')) { // echo "File"; $tree_menu_items = implode("", file($treemenu_fn . '.js')); $tree_menu_noscript = implode("", file($treemenu_fn)); } else { // echo "New"; // don't build a tree when no categories $check_categories = $db->Execute("select categories_id from " . TABLE_CATEGORIES . " etc. etc. etc....

So i put the part up at the top in the <SCRIPT> part... I'm not even sure if I did it right...

Anyway - I've been a UNIX admin for 20 years... not a programmer!!

maybe it shouldn't be:
tree_menu.util.Dom.setStyle

but rather:
something_else.util.Dom.setStyle

Hey, thanks for the compliment! Yeah, the cart total in the header is pretty slick. There are a few other slick features on the site that appear at various times like recently viewed items, previous orders, shopping cart with images, and if you go to http://www.drumfactorydirect.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=6_9_10&products_id=1911
and play around with the attributes and quantities you will see the Dynamic Price Updater in action.

All of this was possible from the incredibly awesome and generous zencart community.:D

Don't think I can help you with the DOM event. But you might try treemenu.Dom.setStyle or treemenu.util.Dom.setStyle or treemenu_tpl.util.Dom.setStyle. Hopefully Jerusalem_Spider will post back with the exact steps.

Good luck!

Re: Yahootreemenu with ajax.

OMG!!! That dynamic price thing is cool - and exactly what I was going to do...

A long time ago I had gotten that same idea from a buddy of mine's company... except his site is all ASP... but the price should just update!! The BIG difference (that makes your better) is that it doesn't update until your cursor leaves the field...

http://www.providencecable.com

Go check it out... there's one other thing I like as well - the Shopping Cart that slides up out of the way, but is always there! Should be easy enough (relatively!) to colde with some JS and <DIV>'s!!! We'll see.

Where did you get your Dynamic Pricer? Do you mind saving me some legwork and posting the code somewhere?

Yeah - I know we are going WAY off topic here, huh!!? :) I'll poke around to see if there's somewhere else folks are talking about this stuff...

Re: Yahootreemenu with ajax.

Ok - found it in the downloads section. (Super Orders) (I saw another one too just called Dynamic Pricer or something. in the forum)

I guess I will be playing with that today, too - if I get time... (always a problem!)

Thanks.

Hmmmm - maybe it is Dynamic Price Updater! Reading the README for Super Orders doesn't seem to mention anything about dynamic price...

Yup - and I've been reading your posts on that forum thread as well! I see you had some issues with radio buttons... I will post there anything I find when I get it going...

Yes, it's the Dynamic Price Updater.

If you get the treemenu DOM event sorted out so treemenu works with the lightbox mod please post the steps that you took so that others may follow.

I do plan to for sure... I got sidetracked playing with these other things mentioned above!!

I got that HEADER Shopping Cart going (very easy addition!) - and I tweaked its appearance... as well as my WHOLE header...

I need to get back on track!! So easy to get sidetracked with so much to do!!!

My one problem in testing MY problem with the DOM conflict thing is that it is too hard to duplicate... it only happens when the system doesn't respond fast enough. I use a VMWARE instance for testing - which responds pretty friggin fast (you oughta check it out - its free! - run as many virtual servers running any OS you install - all at once!!!)

Anyway... I have a friends house I test from - and at his house I get the conflict EVERY TIME!!!

I posted a post on the DynamicPrice thread... a little bug I saw on the dude's test site. Check it out. (has to do with you running a sale - 20% off... etc.)

Re: Yahootreemenu with ajax.

hey lankey - you got kudos in the README for the PriceUpdater:

"
Many thanks to lankeeyankee and clarkjarvis on the Zen Cart forums for finding the fault and fixing it, respectively
"

Cool

I'm installing it in my DEV tonight.

Re: Yahootreemenu with ajax.

OK - back to the topic!!!

I think I may have figured out how to fix my problem... Thanks to jerusalem_spider for getting me off in the right direction...

I don't know if it really is the solution, as it's hard to replicate the conditions in which it occurs... But here it is anyway - maybe those of you who run across it can verify!

FILE:
/www/includes/modules/sideboxes/yourtemplatename/treemenu.php

add this code to the TOP of the file:

<script type="text/javascript"> function init() { load_tree_menu.util.Dom.setStyle("hidden_element", "visibility", ""); } load_tree_menu.util.Event.onDOMReady(init); </script>

Let me know if anyone else has luck with that.

Re: Yahootreemenu with ajax.

Yep - you've turned on the Non-Ajax version. There seems to be a bug that causes this duplication. turn the Ajax version on again and it will go away (it did for me anyway).

  define('YAHOOTREEMENU_WITHOUT_AJAX', false);

hubert:

Hum I didn'get any reply to my question but perhaps I was not enough precise.

I'm running YTM on 1.3.7.

On the home page (www.piccolo-pizza.com) there's no problem, the YTM works great, but now go to the top menu and ask for Pizza->Classics.

And there you'll see twice the pizza menu in YTM.

Does someone has an idea ?

Oops - i forgot to respond to this...

I may have caused some confusion... I'm not using the YAHOO version... its simply called treemenu (something I downloaded fromt he ZENCART downloads area - I think I found the correct thread to discuss this issue, even though this thread "Yahootreemenu" has more information!!

<http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?p=490550#post490550>

And since I'm not using YAHOO, neither am I using AJAX

Hi,
Could I just ######## in and ask: what categories mod are you using on your site?
I found this thread trying to check out Dynamic Categories tree menu.
I've downloaded it but wanted to try to find out what it looks like before I tried it, & what sort of problems I might encounter.
Is this the mod you are using on your drum site?
Thanks for any help.
Regards
Gay

Re: Yahootreemenu with ajax.

Just wanted to say THANK YOU to the contributor(s) of this. I have tried almost all the category sidebox and they all never really did what I wanted, in design or performance, one or the other just never meet my standard. I simply wanted to keep my category counts on, and most of the time the category box loaded the system down.
Now with this, my site runs just the way I dreamed of it running and I don't have to worry about performance.

Thank you again!

Re: Yahootreemenu with ajax.

How can I increase the indent to make a stronger differentiation between the main categories and the subcategories?

Thanks for any advice.
