Paypal 2.0 for zen cart

Is anyone able to verify that Paypal 2.0 as described above is available internationally and not restricted to US cart owners?

Re: Paypal 2.0 for zen cart

Have mailed Meric Turkoglu asking this very question, but of course waiting for business hours today...

Will let on the response, though I figure their only piggybacking PayFlow Pro on PayPal Pro which rules us Aussies out. :censored:

snarkys:

will the updated version send the shipping information so the ship buttons work correctly ?
No idea. It sends all the shipping information according to the API documentation. And I can't see any additional resources via which to collect/send further information. I suspect the problem is a limitation in how PayPal has their payment side talking to the processing side. As you know, the verisign and paypal teams aren't working really well together just yet.

Granted, I don't have a "real" account to test with. If someone wants to PM me with access to a real account, we can try to do some real fine-tuning of things...

Re: Paypal 2.0 for zen cart

I just tested out the updated file set ver 3.0 and they are functioning.

Shipping info is not being listed in the paypal account and neither is email.

The shipping button is in paypal so you can still copy and paiste from zencart to paylpals click n ship.

If you are installing this file set over the old one, make sure you set permision to overwrite the old files and remember to set the bin files to 755

No need to reenstal the SQL though,.
I uninstalled then reenstalled the whole module from the admin section as well just to make sure it took the new files. Not sure if its required, but I did it anyway.

Yes, that's a good idea, as some changes were made to available options.

Re: Paypal 2.0 for zen cart

For all those outside of the US wondering if you might take advantage of this new PayFlow/PayPal service...

This is the response from Meric Turkoglu, Account Executive, PayPal Payment Services.

This new PayPal 2.0 Product is only available to US Merchant for the moment. It will eventually be available across the globe where PayPal is accepted, but for the time being it is only US, and there is no determined timeline to launch it in other countries. Please keep my info handy and feel free to contact me to check.

Thanks Meric Turkoglu, but :schmoll:

Re: Paypal 2.0 for zen cart

I just got off the phone with paypal tech support and they said the paypal manager is grabbing the billing address from ZEN and not the shipping. That is why in paypal manager the address shows up but not in paypal regular.
Paypal manager won't pass the billing address to paypal, it will only pass the shipping address. So if there is something in the code thats preventing the shipping info from being grabbed then fixing that "should" allow paypal manager to pass it over to paypal.

He looked at the test transaction I ran and said the address was definitly on the billing side.
I asked him if he knew the right things to tell you guys about what code to look at and he said he didnt.

I can't see how to add shipping information more accurately than it already does. We are sending the following (note the SHIPTOxxxxx fields), based on their API documentation:

VENDOR
PARTNER
VERBOSITY
ACCT
EXPDATE
CVV2
AMT
CURRENCY

Re: Paypal 2.0 for zen cart

Just to let you know if you are like me and thought PayPal Pro would work for you and applied for the account you can not use PayPal 2.0-

"Michelle, the PayPal 2.0 product is only available to those merchants
who are not in the PayPal Database. The product will not work for you
if you are already in the existing Paypal Database and using PayPal Pro.
The only way I can set you up is if you start a brand new paypal account
with all new info including ssn and bank account.

I am sorry for the inconvenience and since this is a brand new product,
it is currently only available to new existing US merchant base.

I do have 3 customers who started new paypal accounts. One used his
wife, one used his son, and one used her sister to apply for the 2.0.

If that is your option, please let me know, so we can get started.

My reply to that was- Hi,

I applied for the PayPal Pro but I am not using it and I will not be
using it. Does this still apply to me?

His reply was-
Unfortunately the system will still recognize your personal information.
I am sorry. This product will also be available to the existing base as
well, but for the time being, I don't want to give you a product that is
not going to work for you.

Hopefully this will help some of you before you start jumping through PayPal's hoops

Re: Paypal 2.0 for zen cart

i am going to agree with the above statement. every step of the way it was one hurdle after another trying to connect my normal paypal account with the new paypal 2.0 and after a month they were still working on a "workable solution".

Re: Paypal 2.0 for zen cart

well i got the reason why my acount was not working today. btw i already have a paypal acount.

Your account was “stuck” due to the vetting status. This is the status of your merchant account application. Specifically, we weren’t at that time, able to manually update our end with your status. That has since been fixed. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Re: Paypal 2.0 for zen cart

Hello everyone. I have read every post in this thread and just want to clarify a few things. I am currently using PayPal Website Payments Standard to process all of my transactions. I would like to be able to accept credit cards directly on my website without the need to transfer potential customers offsite. These may sound like dumb questions, I apologize.

So if I understand correctly (which I probably don't):

  • PayPal Website Payments Pro is not supported by Zen-Cart at this time.
  • PayPal Payflow Gateway is NOT the same as PayPal 2.0
  • PayPal 2.0 has no setup fees, no contact, no cancellation fees, only cost $20/month plus the fees per transaction. It allows the customer to enter their payment information directly on my webiste and process the transaction (accept/decline) within seconds without transfering out of my website and the customer never knows that PayPal has been used. The money is deposited into my PayPal account instantly just as with Website Payments Standard.
  • The module: http://www.zen-cart.com/index.php?main_page=product_contrib_info&cPath=40_48&products_id=321
is designed to somehow integrate PayPal Website Payments Pro with PayPal 2.0 so that it integrates with Zen-Cart. (This is the part that confuses me, any clarification would be greatly appreciated).

PayPal 2.0 sounds much like PayPal Website Payments Pro. What is the difference? Is it that 2.0 can be integrated with Zen Cart? (Which would be a big difference of course ;)

Attention Canadians
I am a Canadian. I spoke to PayPal today and the representative said that PayPal will be offering Website Payments Pro and Virtual Terminal to Canadians sometime during the first quarter of 2007. As I cannot sign up for these premium services untill then, I am simply researching and finding out what is involved with transferring over to the Pro version.

Thank-you for your help.

Re: Paypal 2.0 for zen cart

voltage:

Woohoooo! An overpriced gateway from one of the company's with THE worst customer service I have ever experienced. $150 - $250 to setup and $20 - $60 a month! AND this doesn't include the merchant account (I'm not sure if this costs extra or if its free).

The reason Paypal is so huge is because of eBay and because it allows sellers to receive cash without paying a monthly fee. Had they started with this gateway offer, none of us would know who Paypal is. IMHO, its just not a good deal.

Check AND Mate! :)

$60/mo for me to get a canned email response that has nothing to do with the question I asked is a bit steep. Not to mention all the Bullsh!t rules paypal generalizes so somethings that look similar to illegal activity but aren't get lumped into their TOS. for $60/mo I can't believe they have the audacity to charge a transaction fee as well. They should have a personal banker included for that price who runs to the bank for you and deposits the money himself.

I'll have to check out this skipjack, but I also recently switched (about a year ago) from payquake to merchantlogic and i've never been happier. On Average I save about $190/mo more than I did with payquake and I sure as hell don't pay $60/mo! Payquake is good if you have very slow sales because there is no monthly fee, just a higher transaction discount rate. If you have a lot of sales, get a merchant with a monthly rate but a lower transaction discount. With merchantlogic, I pay $17/mo ($10 for gateway, $7 for merchant) with half of the payquake rate. I have a lot of sales so I was paying out the crack for each sale.

-$17 > -$60
