testuser:

Please post your solution if you get a chance ... XML solution ... the correct syntax and what not.It would be my pleasure.. I love to share:smile:.. I was a little worried about sharing this particular solution.. I didn't want to step on your toes since I feel like I colored outside the lines and whatnot.. :laugh:

Re: FCKeditor 2.4.3 - Content Editor addon for Zen Cart

Okay here's what I did:

First here's the source of my information: http://fckeditor.wikiwikiweb.de/Developer%27s_Guide/Configuration/Styles

  1. Edit the "fckstyles.xml" file found in editors/fckeditor/
  2. Following the instructions in the website link above, I added the styles I wanted to appear in the styles dropdown list.
  3. Edit the "fck_editorarea.css" file found in editors/fckeditor/editor/css
  4. Copy the styles from the store stylesheet that you added to the XML file here. I edited this file so that when the styles added to the XML file are used, they can be seen in the editing area of the editor when they are applied.

Now the three styles I added appear in the styles dropdown, and if they are used, you will see them in the editing area.

I did all of this because of this special styling treatment the client INSISTED on using for their product names:frusty:. Since they are HTML challenged, they needed to use a WSIWYG editor when they create products. I needed to give them a simple way to apply this style without having to know HTML. I also did not want EVERY style from the store style sheet appearing in the styles drop down..

Here's my XML code:

 <Style name="Ph letter colors" element="span">
  <Attribute name="class" value="letters_color"/>
 </Style>
 <Style name="Custom Product Title" element="span">
  <Attribute name="class" value="productTitle_space"/>
 </Style>
 <Style name="Custom Product Name" element="span">
  <Attribute name="class" value="letters_space"/>
 </Style>

Re: FCKeditor 2.4.3 - Content Editor addon for Zen Cart

I installed locally and had no problem(php4). I installed to Linux server/php 5, selected it in configuration, cleared cache, logged off, closed browser and tried to edit. It seems that the page cuts off right where the editor should begin. The last line in the html source for a product editing page is Product description.

Zen cart is in a folder "store" (ie not in the root)

Anything I could try?

Which version are you using?

2.4.3 or 2.5

Re: FCKeditor 2.4.3 - Content Editor addon for Zen Cart

Turns out I somehow screwed up my Define status table and had to repopulate it. DrByte figured this out! I somehow managed to get Localization --> Order Status to become empty which caused the Orders to not show up.

Details of the fix are here: http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showpost.php?p=487761&postcount=16

Funny how something totally different can affect how something else works.

Kudos to DrByte! He's great.

Make sure you didn't skip the definition file for FCKeditor ...

Also try setting the default editor under Configuration :: My Store.

You may need to clear your cache, and logout then back in.

Re: FCKeditor 2.4.3 - Content Editor addon for Zen Cart

Please forgive my stupidity, what definition file?

In Config > My store is where the no show is, can I initiate it another way?

Also, I have logged out and shut the browser down many times along with emptying the cache in both browsers

thanks so much for your quick response :)!

marksu:

It would be interesting to have a custom image button which uses Image Handler 2 hoover properties (showtrail function) integrated to FckEditor toolbar.

Just a thought

marksu

Would you like it for the mousepop-up or the HoverBox like effect? Or both?

You must have missed that file on upload. The file in the download package has the definition for FCK uncommented. But that's what the support thread is here for. Glad you got it working.

**FCKeditor V2.5 for Zen Cart Now Available!

**Please check download link available in signature.

Hi,
I have this mod on the v1.38a site I'm developing & it works really great!
Means I can do stuff with ezpages I could never do with the htmleditor.
Thank you for all your efforts.
My current site is v1.3.02 & I'd dearly love to install the editor on there too.
It would mean I can take my time about the other site's developement.
Does it work with v1.3.02?
I've been checking this thread & the earliest version I have noticed works with v1.3.6.
I'd be grateful for the help because this editor makes life a lot easier!
Thanks again

Re: FCKeditor 2.4.3 - Content Editor addon for Zen Cart

I have installed the latest version of FCK Editor and am running the newest version of Zencart 1.3.8a . Followed all the directions and it works fine in any of the Define Pages of the Tools but if I go to my Catalog / Products and edit any product I have there allready it doesn't give me anyplace to put text or anything. I get the top toolbar is all. In this image below, there should be text allready there because it is a product I have had up for awhile. If I switch back to the HTML editor it shows the text but if I switch back to the FCK Editor it doesn't who anything. I know I must be doing something wrong but not sure what ? Below is all I see when editing or adding a product.

testuser, I am wondering if there is any difference between the version offered at your site and the one offered at the FCKeditor script site, other than the version currently available.

The learning is in the doing.

Still haven't been able to get the editor to work for the Products. Does anyone have any ideas ? See my post above. Have checked everything I can think of and nothing seems to work. And yes I have logged out, cleared my Cache and everything. It works fine for the Define Pages but not for the Products.

Re: FCKeditor 2.4.3 - Content Editor addon for Zen Cart

Sometimes the improbable might give you an answer..

Is it possible that you have some HTML in your product descriptions that is causing the editor not to display the edit box??

There's an EASY way to test this.. Using the HTML editor, open one product and remove your product description. Enter in some random text without any styling. Save your product, then open it again and see if the FCK Editor now allows you to edit that product.. If it does, then some errant code in your product descriptions might be the cause of the problem..

Might sound strange, but IMO you might wanna rule this out as a factor..

Re: FCKeditor 2.4.3 - Content Editor addon for Zen Cart

Thanks Diva, tried that but doesn't work. It doesn't even show up for me if I am adding a new product. I get the same thing, the top toolbar but no text area to enter anything into. Like I said, it works fine on the Define Pages but not anywhere in the Products section.
